My beloved vacuum has a beautiful brand new plug! I did it all by myself, thanks to you! Best instructional video EVER!

Awesome, thank you. Our vacuum cord at work broke, the prong ended up in the outlet. This video helped me to fix it since we didn't have a guy around to take care of it. Us women like to keep things clean you know. Took a pair of scissors and a sharp knife. It worked!! But we then realized someone bought the wrong plug replacement. I am picking up the right one and our vacuum will be back in action for less than $5! Thank you.

While it is true that the appliance doesn't care which wire is connected to hot vs neutral, you absolutely might. Polarization ensures that the wire you're more likely to touch is the neutral; it's a safety feature

Labor will always be what gets you every single time so it's always been wiser to do it yourself when you can. My younger brother took his car to the dealership to have his battery replaced once. Once. He was young, he never made that mistake again. I don't remember the exact numbers as it was in the 90's, but the labor was 2.5x the cost of the battery (dealership prices, mind you, which are always higher but still..). For this repair, either DIY or buy a new one; the repair would probably cost nearly as much as a new appliance

A have a case with a dehumidifier, I have to replace the plug end every three or four months because it gets burned after a hot spot is produced in one of the prongs. In using a plug similar to the one you use NEMA5-15P . Seems to be that after a while one of the screw contact forms a hot spot and overheat the blade. I'm thinking todo a try with another type plug end which terminal is a compressed hole
