Sometimes it's scary how accurate the algorithm is. My sister and I are starting a small farming operation in rural sw Kansas. Our choices for food are Dollar General and a small grocery store that is price gouging the community. We could drive to a larger city where there is a Walmart and another over priced grocery store, but gas is so expensive! I originally set out to grow food for the family and save on the grocery bill, but ended up growing far more than a family of 5 can eat. I gave away watermelons, cucumbers, zucchini, heads of lettuce, tomatoes, pears, etc to the neighbors. From this, an idea was born. I want to help my community, so I'm setting up my own produce stand to offer good clean fruit and veggies people can afford. For those in the area who can't afford much, I will give them food. No one gets left behind if I can help it. I've expanded the growing space significantly for permaculture, and we planted a fruit orchard last fall to keep our 50 year old seckel pear company. She hasn't produced fruit in 20 years and we thought she was done for, but holy moly she surprised us last year and made hundreds of pears! She's gonna drop more on us this year. If this isn't a sign to keep building my dream I don't know what is. Next year I hope to have a few chickens, a couple of bee hives, and a few acres of lavender and wildflowers. As if that's not enough to keep me busy for a hundred years, I want to offer art classes with nature being the inspiration and focus.

Another idea for bundles is things like “salsa” or “tomato sauce”. I think that might be a good seller! I also found out you could get free mulch from arborists so once I’m done getting my path done I’m definitely going to be hitting up my grocery store for free boxes and arborists for mulch

wonderful. at the end you mention how you intend for the farm to be your main source of income -- some seconds thoughts or doubts there but that is how it is. you'll be good. do you do soil tests? i worry about beginning gardeners who rely solely on composts. i am there with you about closing the loop of production and the organic part of this as science is showing how plants actually "farm" microbes - rhizophagy. but i have seen enough of the benefits of soil mineral balancing (the Albrecht system) with a bit of particular emphasis on calcium - it makes a difference particularly with the kind of microbial push you are doing...blessings from the Philippines

Hi, i'm new here. I'm about to start a hydropnic system this week. Have you thought about that? Good luck my friend. Hugs from Brazil.

Awesome friend! Welcome and sending you the best as you set way. I’ve done some growing in aeroponic towers in the past but have opted for soil and non synthetic nutrients just because I find it more fun to build year over year. We also have a long growing season here in Georgia so that is part of the reason I do so much outdoors in the soil. Here if you ever have any other questions for me! Stay in touch!

Where are you located, growing zone wise?

Thanks for the follow! We are just south of Atlanta Ga. So 8a. Did most propagation in the greenhouse around early February and transplanted outside between end of February and mid March. Summer stuff a tad bit later but everything did really well and no frost post March 30th here this year.
