    Hi dude! I'm an electrical engineer that came across a lot of motor controllers.
    The capacitors they use are usually 55V capable, It won't have any problem on the most 48V controllers if you slightly overvolt it.
    Mainly motors only have windings and a hall sensor, which should be alright uptil 90V's. It's gonna take all the load until it reaches 85°C. It's the controller you'd want to keep an eye at. That it might pop up!
    Gread video! Cheers!
    *Healthy advice: You should use pedal assist on front wheel to have an AWD bike and burn dem cals fo good!
    *Also your tires have very high rolling resistance for a road like that

    My speedo is off too but unable to change it so I just use GPS. These little "250w" geared motors can take way more than that...most of them can handle way more, anyway, I think the plastic gears inside the hubs are the weak point. You can buy replacements for very little money, and I bet you could replace the plastic gears with metal ones if you know how to measure and count teeth. The 9-pin cable would melt before you damage the motor with amps / heat, imo. You could probably open the motor and replace the 9-pin with 10 guage wires.

    Just my opinion, do what you like with it. When you overvolt a motor, it definitely wil deliver more until that fateful day when it gets too hot and burns up on you. However, if you dont hold the throttle open too long or too often, you might get away with this for a very long time. I once overvolted a 24v motor to 40v. It lasted 6000 kms. Unfortunately, I got so acustomed to it working well, I absent mindedly ran it into a wind for an hour and cooked the motor.

    • @JesusChrist-sx1lf
      @JesusChrist-sx1lf Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah that's the thing It works until you put too much load on it. What people forget is that in order to reach equilibrium when going from 36V -> 48V battery for example, is that you should also swap out the controller for something that can either be current limited, or a weaker controller that delivers lower max Ampere. Otherwise it's a gamble in the long run.
      The S886 display has P14 Current limit for example, the controllers that are compatible with that would be ideal. As you can lower the current settings to make up for the 30% boost or 40% boost in Wattage when going from 36->48, or 36->52.
      Same principle for you if you went from 24->48.

    • @JesusChrist-sx1lf
      @JesusChrist-sx1lf Před 2 měsíci +1

      It's preferred that the controller have a equal or higher wattage rating than the motor, otherwise you are going to push the controller to it's very limit once you reach a certain speed or if you're going uphill and don't use pedal assistance which can cause it to overheat. But yes, it does work under some circumstances. If you use it with pedal assistance and maybe not the max mode, then for sure.

    just built a 350w rear hub wheel bike and got a 1000w 60v controller, thinking what battery to get 48v or 52v the hub motor wires are 1.5mm2 can the hub phase cables handle the current avg 7-12 amps ?

      @neilmartin1111 Před 8 měsíci +1

      "Update" It blew up the controller so installed a new controller, then the geared hub gave up ruining the motor windings so be careful about what motor you get !

      @@neilmartin1111 Yeah you pushed it too far with 52V. Going from 36V to 48V means a 30% boost. Going 36V to 52V means 44% boost. You shouldve stayed at 48V and not push your luck any further. Might work on a flat road, but once you go uphill or put more load on the motor it's gonna be generating a lot more heat than it's designed for those kind of Wattage.
      A lot of people do upgrade to 48V from a 36V system. But there's no guarantee how long it will last as it very much depend on the controller. If you have a "mid-end" controller that's only delivering 13-15A at max current, then swapping for a 48V battery would probably be perfectly fine. Yours probably deliver 20+ A I'd imagine. Even at stock it's not meant for a 350W hub.

    14 squid for that cable?! That’s an expensive cable, how long did it take you to catch the squid, two-free days?

    If that was mine, that front wheel would go on the back, take off the chain and put another front on it. Much stronger and better to ride IMO.

    I got a ebike battery with 7s 4p, 24v 8.8ah.
    I want to take it apart and change to 14s, 2p, will I lose range I think battery will then be 48v 4.4ah? Or is the range remaining the same but with more power when demanded?

      If your battery case has little additional room, the best option is to upgrade the cells to higher energy density. Otherwise, just buy a larger battery, voltage and amperage.

    Front wheels are dangerous I know because I nearly smashed my face on the road at 20mph the steel forks broke off due to the motor torque and went flying off the bike but luckily I ended up doing a roll as I landed which saved me from any injuries never bought a front wheel again rear wheels all the way

      @@DudeStuff Yea I saw the other video. The reason why I didnt want to buy a 48v1000w wheel with spokes is because I have a magnesium alloy wheel. They just look badass. I guess I just have no other choice (There are no magnesium alloy mtb black wheels with a 48v1000w hub motor)
      Thanks :D

    Which makes a mockery of the law as a 250watt motor quad volted appears legal when a 1kw motor restricted to 250 w is illegal . The law is an ass .
