LAPD Sergeant helps student finish LA Marathon

- 15-year-old Leobardo Dorado was able to complete his second marathon with the help of an LAPD Sergeant after collapsing just 400-meters away from the finish line. Alex Rozier reports for the NBC4 News on March 19, 2024.

Was pretty stupid and dangerous! That cop could have made a bad situation very dangerous. He could have ended up with life altering injuries.
I have been involved in the running community for about 50 years. I have seen this happen and the person being dragged to the finish ended up in the hospital for a while or even died.
@@dandejoux2622yeah, I doubt that, happens all the time. Where a runner can’t make it so they get help. 10/10 no long lasting injuries
@@dandejoux2622nope, I’m good friends with my boy Leobardo and he didn’t end up in the hospital at all, in fact he came to school the day after the marathon.
All too often runners that collapse 1/4 mile from the finish line and get dragged to the finish line only to end up being carried the last 100 yards are having serious medical issues. He was lucky this time. The cop should be suspended for doing what he did.
He put the runner in serious danger. In my 50 years associated with the running community I have seen this happen about a dozen times. A few walked away. A few were in the hospital for a few days. A couple died possibly because of the incompetence of someone who had no knowledge of the medical field and chose to force the runner to finish.
He should have been disqualified because of receiving the assistance.
The cop should have been a lot smarter than to endanger that boy's health and safety.
I have seen these situations where the person ended up with life altering problems. I have even seen people die from this.
