      I can relate...I was 17 in 1977. Alex reminds me of Steve Perry from Journey and the long hair is so reminiscent of the days when my three brothers, all older, wore their hair that long, back in the late 60's and 70's... Those days are deeply missed. Nicely done video, simple and to the point. Thank you.

    Bro this was perfect! I've been trying to get into the Ebay hustle for so long but have no idea where to start. I spend hours a day studying business and watching videos. I remember Gary Vee talking about selling things from thrift shops on ebay etc. My first ebay sell was when the snap-chat spectacles came out, once i saw they were a limited release i knew they would be worth more sold it for twice the price on ebay. That was the moment my eyes opened to the hustle possibilities, i just dont know where good outsourcing can be found. Let me in this under ground world! LOL message me privately.

      Instagram myvisualsaga you can buy say a lot of 8 phones or iphone/ipods for 30 bucks sometimes less that have cracked screens or need repairs. new screens are cheap and easy to fix with a youtube how to video. some need batteries but go on amazon get one for as low as 8 bucks. you can sell on facebook swap shops in your area that way you dont have to ship anything. im in the process of doing it myself. can do that with video games too and can find xbox ones for under 200 i found one for 160 with a controller. can sell for 200+.

    There is a lot more to t-shirt than that. Don't just randomly pick out 200 shirts, pick out the good ones. I just sold a t-shirt on eBay for $80 that I only paid 75 cents for. You can get some duds but there are some that go for a fortune.
    But as long as you find what works for you then I suggest that you stick with it. Glad that you found something that you love.

    Alex. Great video. I have one suggestion. Whenever I go out of town, there's no need to hire an assistant. Instead, I put a notice in my store telling buyers that I won't be able to ship orders between (fill in the date) and (fill in the date) until I return on (fill in the date). This notice appears on every listing so the buyer knows ahead of time that there will be a delay in shipping. If he's OK with it, he'll go ahead and order. When I return, I have a pile of orders waiting and I ship them all out the day I promised.

    I agree with a lot of what was said in this video but if you are really efficient you can still makes lots of money on this cheap polos and jeans and used shoes. We have about 300 to 400 items at all times nearly all used clothes and shoes along with clearance items and new shoes from national clothing and shoe discount stores. Our average sales per month for the past 5 years has been between $7000 and $10500 per month with an average profit after all fees shipping returns and supplies is around $2000 to as high as $5900 per month. Important thing is sticking with what you know a lot about and enjoy messing with. Between looking for things to resell (which is what I truly enjoy) taking pictures, listing and shipping we spend about 20 to 25 hours weekly between my and my wife. Just my 2 cents.

      I have to add... I worked in pawn for years associate up to management. Now I'm only saying this because all stores reach overflow.. and will turn items down (believe it or not) game systems, guitars etc. Talk to the manager and let them know what you are looking for and if they have it on a do not buy list... (If they will buy/pawn) you'll purchase it same day or within 24 hours. Mind you they are not accepting because they have reached capacity of their store. We at one point even stopped taking gold bands (crazy right) because we had so many. When it comes to musical instruments obviously you're not going to get the cream of the crop because if it's extremely good item they're going to keep it no matter what and resell it but you will get a lot of bread-and-butter items.

    Spot on! Great advice! I also see some negativity in the comments here. Everyone has their way I think. Absolutely no need for the negativity at all.
    Me personally, I simply sell keywords. For me it doesn't really matter what the item is, it could be rubber dog crap, but I'll sell it, and sell it for a lot! I've purchased items from eBay, and sold them for quadruple the amount I purchased them for. It's all about the title! Title, title, title! Advice for all of my fellow Ebayers. If you don't already know, learn to separate yourself from the competition. This is easily, and simply done with great keywords in your title.
    But great video!

    I appreciate your opinion. But obviously you have never tried selling clothing. I don't work. Ebay is my job and I sell mostly clothing along with other electronics and I have a supplier that I get quality wrist watches from. I do very well with the clothing. I've been doing it since 2007 and unless you have tried or have done it your not qualified to do the math. I have also sold guitars because I am a guitar player and I'm very experienced in the products. They sell slow and take alot of space. In reality, I make more doing it my way.

    • @humanyoda

    • @Noah-wj4rd
      @Noah-wj4rd Před 7 lety +4

      I'm not saying that he is wrong. I've had an ebay store since 2007 and have recently opened a sports card store this year. I make a strong living reselling clothing and other things. I don't need to provide "caluculations" or other things. I don't need to prove myself. I'm not competing. I made a statement as I have the right to. Believe or not, don't really care. I know because I have done the guitar thing and it's a rough business.

    • @nullshock3381
      @nullshock3381 Před 7 lety +2

      Just because he doesn't sell clothing, doesn't mean he can't do the math. I don't sell much of anything, unless I want to get rid of something, or need some pocket cash. But, I can research what items sell more frequently, pricing and profit margins. That is all it takes to be "qualified to do the math." He has replied to someone who sells clothing who commented in a way that didn't sound smug, and he replied, told them they were 100% correct, but it just wasn't something his cup of tea, and gave a reason or two why. Though I will say this, everything on ebay has the potential to sell slow one day and quickly the next(and vice versa) depending on any number of variables. With ebay it can be feast or famine, just like any other type of business.
      And. . .sorry your comment just sounded smug, and no I am not white knighting. . .The way you said it, which you may not have intended to come off that way, just irked me. And, like your other comment, which you come off really smug, I have the right to make a statement just as Humanyoda had the right to ask you a question. They could have been seeking advice. Your response comes off as if you are being defensive and dishonest.
      And, yes I know that I am likely coming off as an asshole, but that is not my intent. . .Just read something that irked me a little, and I was bored so I replied. . .Gotta love public forums. Cheer mate.

      MrYnoter No. I would actually wait untill you are able to post 150 items or so. then the price of the store covers your listing fees plus you get discounted fees and $25 every quarter to spend on shipping supplies.

    People are not necessarily sentimentally attached to the money, but people have large bills that have to be paid, some living from paycheck to paycheck - and have only a limited amount of cash to spend if they want electricity and water! I do enjoy your videos! I suggest investing what you can and working up to the big stuff later! :) Thanks!

    eBay was the best place six years ago for buying and selling,
    unfortunately not anymore because most sellers are overpricing the
    shipping price far too much and they never response to the buyer
    messages most of the time

    Wow you know your stuff, thanks for sharing!! :) P.S. I learned about the thrift store hustle the hard way! I went out in the summer and spent $100 on clothes. Guess how much I've sold? NADA! I listed and relisted them 3 times. Anyways it discouraged me so much that I just quit ebay for 8 months but I'm back now. Editing again to say thank you SO MUCH! You helped me a lot.. I really believe I can make some real profit now.

    Nice video man. I agree with some of what you are saying and disagree with some, I am a full time reseller myself and I just started CZcams not long ago. I deal a lot in antiques and collectibles and also a lot of other things like clothing and all, most of all the clothing I deal with is vintage clothing and items. Your correct about a few things specifically the higher end items but you are missing the ticket and that is bread and butter items like the smaller lower end items that sell consistently, as far as buying clothing items at a $1-2 and selling them anywhere from $10-15 is a bread and butter items. But like I said I agree with you focus on higher end items and don't be scared to invest larger amounts to make larger amounts. A lot has to do with your business model, I own a estate liquidation business so I buy in bulk and there for have a lot of lower end items that I list and high end items, sourcing is the key! You need to focus on time management and you need to know the numbers. Reselling is all about what you want out of it, if you are doing it as a job and are just looking for the easiest way to make money and you are not worried about having a good time and enjoying what you do then there is multiple ways you can go about reselling, if your like me and you are doing this for multiple reasons like being your own boss, picking and sourcing items you know about and enjoy buying and selling, working your own hours and enjoying the grind and hustle of the reselling business. Reselling isn't a lifestyle it is a way of life. Thanks man

    i did dropshipping and didnt know the risks of activation codes for xbox one, i made about 4-5 euro e profit each sell after ebay fee and paypal fee, i sold 32 in about 12-14 days, i made 160 euro which i was really happy about and i didnt have to spend a penny, but several days after the buyer purchasing i got a message saying "unauthorized transaction" and ebay would take the money i earned out of my account and send it back to the buyer and he/she would keep the activation code, this is ridicoulous if you ask me, the buyers where refunded and kept the activation codes because i had no proof of shipping the game as i send the code through contact buyer... furious that i was so i complained and rang paypal which they then told me "we dont support/refund activation codes" so i literally could not do anything about it and got so much negative comments on my ebay saying "i was hacking debit cards" lol wtf, and ebay put me on hold so i could not even sell any more items

    ebay and paypal take a percentage of 15% then you have to pay for postage, ebay takes 2% of postage costs, leaving you with 83% of your money, providing a scammer doesn't claim their money back through paypal,then you lose your item, if you really wanted to make money you would make a website and sell your merchandise on there.

    very smart niche to get into, instruments. Not a lot of people do it or know about it. Also very smart to invest more money into things with more value. I like doing suits and sport coats because i can spend 10-20 and get 100-200 usually.

    20 shirts, $2 a piece= $40. I sold them for $10 each= $200. Minus paypal cost of $15 = 185. Minus $60 shipping cost= 125. Minus ebay charge of $20= $105. I have a profit, my net gain is $65. you said I lost 95. You are still making a profit of over %60
