Oh man guys, i’m so sorry about the music now, i realize how heckin ANNOYING it is! 😬
I'd just would love to watch you deal with my 1975 briggs and stratton. Its like yours but its white and has an air filter
But seriously I would literally send you mine to watch you deal with it
@@jamier5757 if you want to literally mail it to me then i’ll have a go. i’ve never had an engine i couldn’t get running
The problem is probably compression cuz it has spark fuel and too much compression
@@jamier5757 can't have too much compression. although, check to see if the cylinder has oil in it, if it has oil in the cylinder that can cause it to have higher than normal compression.
Damn I want one of these. I miss the old B&S engines, they sound soo cool and they are so damn well built.
Oh look someone my age doing the same stuff I do!
Same here
This guy has skills. .. It will be like new when he is finished
The engine needs the air filter attachment and the breather tube to work properly. If not, the air/fuel mix will always be wrong.
Its set up for a snowblower you can see it. Ain’t got no air filter. All those engines are not set up to idle. It’s got a governor it’s only going to go so high.
Snow blower engines do not have air filters because there's no dirt
1:19 my volume was down low and had to rewind and double check that you weren't dumping soap in the cylinder!!
XD nice yep wouldn't dump soap down there
Most snowblowers don’t have air filters
Mine doesn't start and has no compression when starting. When started with a drill it runs but now it has no spark anymore
It's a snowblower motor. That's why no air filter
What size is the output shaft on this?
this ones got a 1"
How did you get the engine to idle correctly?
by spending a good chunk of time fiddling with both mixture adjustment screws
@@WildfoxFabrication So it had nothing to do with the governor linkage?
@@nicholasbrokemond9880 I was wondering the same thing as mine does the same thing and I have no idea what to do as my governor doesn't have a screw
That’s an engine from a snow blower. No dust in winter time with snow on the ground. Hence no filter.
yeah I know that now lol
Lacquer, air intake. These are just two of the words your looking for
Heres my 83" Sno-Gard

Put news valves my friend
He freaked out when it leaked lol it’s just gas
Gotta keep it tidy
@@WildfoxFabrication I agree that bench looks pretty new
Put the motor on an old garden tractor or something.
ill have to see if I can find an affordable tractor for sale. people around here think they're made out of solid gold. I've seen one with a briggs model 14 listed for $11,000 and it sold within a day.
@@WildfoxFabrication Get a go-kart to put it on.
@@billbergen9169 that thing would have some TORQUE! Now I want to put it on a really small go kart dangling off the back so I’m doing wheelies for days!
@@WildfoxFabrication Yeah or a drift kart
You don't realize what you have their. That engine is worth good money. Its a Briggs Sno-Gard. Their weren't many made. In fact your one of the few people who has one on CZcams, that's how rare. I have one with the electric starter, 5 years older, dual shaft. Worth 4 to 5 hundred dollars. Built way better than any new engine.
Also your young so its okay, but I would have rebuilt the original carburetor, the primer is a huge help in cold snow. Its not hard. Some carb clean mostly. The OEM carbs are a lot better than those Chinese copies by far.
They didn't start adding a primer until late in the game, mine was built without one. Only downside to that engine. Its a lot harder to start in cold snow than a Tecumseh with no primer without the electric start. Otherwise those are really well made engines. What snowblower did it come off, a snapper? Tecumseh was on 90% of snowblowers at the time that was built, thats why their arent many of those around.
oh dang, i didn’t know it was rare, sold it for $175. i don’t know what brand of blower it was on, i received it just as is. and i didn’t throw the OEM carb away, i stuck it in a box somewhere and kept it till about last month when i rebuilt it and put it on an egg edger. i never throw away updraft carbs, they always come in handy. dang, wish i still had it. i don’t think anyone would have paid $400-500 no matter HOW rare it was anyway.
i also ended up drilling the rivets on that stupid guard over the pull start, and rotating the pull start so it’s 100% easier to pull. may have brought its value down a lot, whoops.
@@WildfoxFabrication Yea, you did. That guard was their to keep snow out of the recoil.
It was a $300 engine minimum. Once you start pulling its custom snow shield's off, the price is dropping.
@@WildfoxFabrication I watched one with the electric starter sell for $450 on Ebay. You didn't have the electric starter, so you could have got $300 to $350 on ebay plus shipping. The electric starter for those engines is worth $200 bucks.
$175 still isn't bad. Someone got it for about half its true value.
wait- dual shaft? what the heck?
Model 19000 series the best motor! I have two snow blowers that had an 8 and 10 Tecumseh I repowered with these. One's a 1987 the other a 1979 . I have a fleet of old flat heads ranging from 3.5 - 18.5 oppossed twins.. And lots of parts. Yeah been at it for about 40 years lol..Also old Lawnboys and a few Tecumseh from 3.5- 10.5 hp..
Check seat valves..
i can make it run with old carb!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, i could too, but i was pretty crunched for time on this as it was a customer’s and i needed to get it back to him
why don't you buy a Honda clone?
because i got this guy for free, and i just sold it anyway, i like the fun of fixing it up and making it do something.
@@WildfoxFabrication For free it's pretty awesome. I got a 5 hp Briggs from 1982, It's painted in grey like yours and I keep it. Anytime I will use it for my 'mini-bike-project'.
