    Hey Steven, I love the content of this video, so thank you for posting. One question I have is this: Is it appropriate to consider individual risks that are identified & listed in a project's risk register to be a case? Meaning, is it reasonable to consider a risk response plan for one identified risk to be a mini case study, focusing on that individual risk, for the project? Or are business case studies meant to be much broader in scope? It seems to me that Case Study Action Plans & Risk Response Plans have substantial overlap.

    Hi Steven, this is a great video. Question: you only explain at the end how to approach a Decision drive case. Do you also have examples how to appraoch a problem/evaluation cases? Thanks

    • @snseattle
      @snseattle  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi Guy - The approach to the other cases is very similar. The main difference is the set up. In a problem case, it is about clearly defining the problem to be solved and then using the case data to drive the solution. Similarly, in an evaluation case it is about the setup. For evaluation, you must identify the criteria for evaluation and use the case data to inform the solution. In both of these approaches, however, the structure of the write-up is the same. Start with the setup and solution, then work through the structure. Hope this helps.

      I use case studies from numerous sources. In my classes I used them primarily from Harvard at www.hbsp.harvard.edu. But a search with most search engines will turn up lots of sources.

    I was given a case with the goal "position our firm to maximize the chances of securing this order"
    Would that be a problem, decision, or evaluation case?

    • @snseattle
      @snseattle  Před 4 lety +1

      I would approach positioning as a problem - you do not know which segment to focus on. Then work on solving that problem. Hope that helps.

    Just another video where its all theoratical, no application or example. Pointless. Instead of such a detailed framework, you could have solved a few sample cases and people would have learnt a lot more. Just my 2 cents

      IH21 Just another destructive comment where the writer states his/her opinion judgementally, using words like “pointless” - which speaks volumes about his/her emotional intelligence. Instead of stating your personal opinion as if it were the only truth and without contributing any data to support it you could have watched the video to learn a bit about how to make a case.
      Please do not assume that you know what’s best for me. I think this video is one of the best ones I have seen about this matter.
      BTW, the author’s answer speaks volumes about his great maturity, humbleness, and emotional ability to listen to others, and try to understand them, even when they are being plainly and unnecessarily displeasing.
