  • Lacewing is actually a combination between the Ino and Cinnamon gene.
    which can explain a lot of why the budgie looks the way it does.

    I just had a quick question. I have a lutino female with red eyes and a sky blue cinnamon male with black and white iris. They just had 2 babies. Both have black eyes, one is black and white and the other is yellow with black. But it's still early to tell what they will be as it's only been about 2 weeks since they've hatched. What do you think they might be?

    I had a pale blue budgie who had a white head and slowly got blue downwards. He was mostly a light powder blue but his butt was sky blue. His mate was pure white. No brown/grey on the feathers at all, 100% pure white with red eyes, white feet/a light pink, and its cere was almost white too but a little bit little pink/blue/purple. We only knew it was a girl after it laid an egg xD

    Your videos are very educating. However, when you have a male with one X gene carries ino and the other gene carriers cinnamon gene, this would be a normal male that carries both ino and cinnamon genes. Remember that cinnamon and ino are X-linked recessive inheritance. This means a male budgie must carry 2 ino genes or 2 cinnamon genes to appear phenotype ino or cinnamon. So, in order to see a lace winge male, the bird has to carry 2 ino genes (one on each X gene) and 2 cinnamon genes (one on each X gene). You said that Type II Lacewing is only visible in males. In fact, Type I and II Lacewing splits are actually normal birds split for both cinnamon and ino. They can never be visible. I think you meant to say Type II Lacewing can only occur in males.

    • @BudgieWorld
      @BudgieWorld  Před 3 lety

      In birds it is the opposite than that of mammals, it is actually "ZZ" for male, and "ZW" for female, Z = X and Y = W.
      I hope that cleared things up.

    • @sevenunicorns1
      @sevenunicorns1 Před rokem

      Yes, XX is Female and XY is Male. Apparently it's the opposite for birds, although I haven't seen any videos for birds switching the X/Y chromosomes and using the opposite combinations for females and males. In reply to your question about this, the video creator states that the gender chromosomes for birds are actually called Z & W. And that ZZ is a male bird and ZW is a female bird. And the Cinnamon and Ino mutations are on the W chromosomes.
      If that is the case, he should go back and edit all his videos that are using X and Y for gender chromosomes and change them to Z and W.
      Other than the gender chromosomes confusion, this creator's videos are very informative and easy to understand. Thank you sir, for your efforts creating your videos!! ❤

    Lacewings are not a combination of cinnamon and ino but a separate unique mutation. Cinnamon Inos look no different to non cinnamon Inos . They just Luke ino. Lots of Inos are really clear lacewings white the ino gene I’m in Association with the dilute gene in double factor

    • @BudgieWorld
      @BudgieWorld  Před 3 lety

      All lacewing budgies have red/ruby eyes, due to the ino part of that gene.
      This is in the definition of this mutation, if your budgie doesn't have red eyes, then it's not lacewing.
