To the OP who thinks they need to “wary of friendly locals” because during their European travels one jerky creep followed them back to the hostel, don’t be insulting. Instead, be friendly back to kind locals; you may get to see parts of a particular city and be able to join into fun and interesting activities that are part of that culture you may not have been able to take part in otherwise. Also, grow a backbone, learn to say “no” and be firm if someone is wanting you to do something you don’t like or feel uncomfortable doing.
