I review the latest two Melvins’ albums: Bad Mood Rising and Tarantula Heart. In addition to full track by track breakdowns, I discuss the band’s new songwriting approach, the Miles Davis influence and how these albums stack up against the band’s best work…!!!

Such an awesome video!! These latest two albums are incredible, and I still cannot figure out which one I like more, though Tarantula Heart is such a fully composed and amazing piece. It Won't Or It Might is my favorite song on either of the two albums though, absolutely beautiful. I really love how you break down the Miles Davis / Teo Macero influence too!
Thanks as always. I thought you’d appreciate getting a tease of my inevitable Miles Davis video tucked in a Melvins video…!!
Awesome stuff my friend! Can’t wait to check out the new album.
As always thanks for watching, Jimi James! Hope you enjoy the new album!
Yo Eddy! You made my day. Great reviews!
Thanks, brother! Appreciate you watching and commenting. 👍🏼
I watched your previous upload on the Melvins and picked up several titles after watching it such as Nude with Boots which is great and Honky which is trippy as hell.
That's awesome, man! I love hearing I inspired people to buy awesome music!
F#ck yeah! 🖤

Great review as always. Not a topic about the melvin’s but seeing as you’re an AC/DC fan too, I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the upcoming tour and their most recent show at power trip!
Obviously it'd be better if Phil and Cliff were part of it, but I know Cliff wanted to retire and Phil has visa issues and obviously Angus and Brian are the main attraction, so if they still want to do it, I don't begrudge them: they've earned the right to carry on with the AC/DC name as far as I'm concerned. In terms of the actual performance clips I've seen: yeah, they're old and they look and sound old. I prefer that to them using backing tracks, holographic avatars, etc. They're real people and they're really performing. That being said, I do think they'd benefit from reshaping the setlist around their current abilities. I understand a few of the big hits they have to play ("Back In Black", "Highway To Hell"), but I don't think concertgoers would revolt if they dropped songs like "Shoot To Thrill" and "Whole Lotta Rosie", which Brian and Angus struggle to pull off. Inserting a few more bluesy songs from Powerage and Ballbreaker would work better with them now (and definitely more songs from PWR/UP).
What are your thoughts on it?
@@EddyCannistraci I share the same feelings as you on a lot of these things. I’m not as upset about the lineup as a lot of people are since I think they’ll come back for a show or 2 later on. I did attend the Powertrip festival and I think Matt Laug is more than a perfect fit for them. While that show was great for me, I see why others could have problems. In terms of their sound, I think the guys should look to what made the Live at River Plate show work. A lot of songs at Powertrip were played in standard tuning which I’m sure didn’t help Brian. His performance at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show proved that tuning down these guitars down gave him some range. Up until Powertrip all of their shows also had a lot more gain on these guitars as well. While these are just some minor changes I still think it could go a long way for them. I do also agree that they need to edit the setlist. Songs like Stiff Upper Lip, and Riff Raff worked great with Brian. It’s clear this tour is their last tour. It’s also very much for the fans as I’ve barely seen any promo for it. Just hope the guys can stick the landing!
Great review for 2 albums I love!
Right on, Sam the Man! Always a man of great taste!
Killer review. Loved tarantula heart
Right on! Thanks!
