As for the wine that you asked about, I can’t drink so I can’t help you there.
I happened to learn to knit before learning to crochet. It can be relaxing but I know I jumped in the deep end way too soon. Where I was knitting a lady was giving a class in how to knit a sweater. Long story short it didn’t turn out so well. Stick to easy knitting, blankets and stuff like that.

Hey Twin - look at all these comments!!! I love that for you & your channel. ❤ This was another great video. Intentions is so much better than resolutions which I am horrible with. Its a kinder and gentler way to look at things and wont cause trauma if you fail. My intention has nothing to do w not buying yarn. Lol. I know me and if the sale is right Im gonna buy all the yarn. But my only real intention is to get thru this frickin mountain of cotton yarn I have and I may just need several bottles of wine to make it through. Lol. I bought most of it wen i was just starting a coupla years ago and i wanted to love cotton yarn. I had dreams of all the dish cloths and pot holders i would make. All the cotton lovies and over the handle hand towels for my kitchen. Thats all it was just dreams. 2yrs in and most of it is still on my shelf. but this is the year. I hope. We will see how it turns out. 🤞🏾 😂 Now onto better things than cotton yarn - wine. My wine of choice is San Antonio Cardinale Red Blend. Sounds fancy but trust me it ain’t. Lol. Its an inexpensive sweet red w a high percentage of alcohol. I hope you have a great week and stay warm in these frigid temps.
Hi twinsie!! 😁👋🏻Ugh….you said the ugly c word…cotton🤢🤢. I did the exact same thing when I first started. I bought a ton of Lilly sugar and cream. It sounds so sweet and soft and perfect. WRONG!! That stuff is Satan’s playground. I have a friend who works in a children’s hospital. I PAID to get rid of it and mailed it to her for children or volunteers to “create” with. 😂 See, that is how Satan works. Draws you in with pretty adjectives then…bam!!! You’re in hell before you know it. 🔥🔥My best suggestion is to try Tunisian crochet with it. It truly is a different experience. I can visualize you right now drinking your sweet, high alcohol content wine with cotton, a Tunisian hook, Toni on your tv and very few cuss words. But hopefully not completely void of cuss words because they are helpful in times of joy and despair. 😂😁😉 Sending hugs from my cotton stash to yours. Cheers twinsie! 🥂🥂♥️

I’m here for the long haul on your channel. Love your sense of humor, you’re just so practical! We all have good intentions. We may not accomplish them but hey, they were on our mind when we wrote them down! I’m a self taught crocheter and just trying to master the basics. Knitting is way over my head! I too have the sense of humor of a 10 to 12 yr. old. I work in a fire truck repair shop with mechanics who could be my kids. I'm the slightly inappropriate "work mom". 😂😂 I'm more into sewing than crochet,. I enjoy what you do. I wouldn't change a thing. ❤
I reccently did a purge of my sewing patterns, quilting books and fabric. In my area of coastal Virginia we have a re-craft store. It's a thrift store for crafters. The profits go to help support the local arts community. Maybe there's something similar in your area to help rehome some of your less than favorite yarns.

I’m jealous of you sewers. I can kinda see, but I can’t cut fabric to save my life. I have great tools to do the job but alas. 🤷🏻♀️ last year, I did gift almost all of my red heart to a good friend. That freed up soooooo much space. And you’re right, it makes you feel so good to both give and empty a bin. That’s awesome that your old things can get new lives with people who can benefit from them. And you are probably filled with amazing stories from your job. So glad you’re here! ♥️♥️♥️

My experience is with making toys and baby clothes, and mostly knitting on 2 needles rather than multiple needles or circular needles. Looking forward to the next video. I hear you about the knitting. I taught myself via CZcams how to knit 2-3 years ago. All I can do is the basics. I find knitting really relaxing but I'm not very good at it. But I really got the hang of it once I started knitting continental style, and I find that it is really pretty easy. However, I still suck at fixing mistakes and I just know that if I leave the mistake in it will definitely stick out like a sore thumb - at least to me. All I see is the mistake. So I just stick with the relaxing side of knitting and I leave the more creative side to crocheting. I really hope you get to 5K-- you are just awesome! I love your content and love hearing you tell stories while we get to look at pretty things! Good luck with your intentions!

honestly it sounds like you’ve done a lot more than what you’re giving yourself credit for!
knitting and purling-that’ll get you through 80% of a project and the other 20% will get easier as you build muscle memory :)
i would suggest using bamboo or wood needles if you’re having trouble with dropped stitches. they’re grippier than metal needles and it can better hold your stitches in place while you’re getting familiar with the motions.
and i love the intentions VS goals point that you made. a lot of times i hype myself up when i first decide i want to do a thing and i’ll be so motivated that i create these crazy elaborate expectations. i’ll hyperfixate for like 6 hours, but once i run out of steam, it’s soooo hard to get going again. if i’m gonna do something,i want to do the best that i know i can!
but then there’s too much pressure and anxiety and i end up procrastinating on ever starting on my goals, and THAT just makes me feel shitty and inept and guilty??? which is not how a fun new hobby is supposed to make you feel…. 🤪
oh wait the point of all that was to say i am the number one advocate for “half assing it is better than full assing it!” 😅
i make to-do lists with stuff like “brush teeth” just so i can get that dopamine boost from crossing things off my list :D

I think you Intentions are very doable with the exception of not buying more yarn. We all need more yarn. Can never have enough yarn. Must have the right yarn, etc. Parfait Chunky is awesome, but in my opinion there is a learning curve on how to do the Magic Ring with ease. By the way, your sweater....perfection!
Thank you sweet Vicki!! Yes, there is a definite learning curve with that yarn. I usually do the chain 2 method or super loose sc in the ring. But it’s a challenge. And thank you, I love this sweater too. It’s only 7 or 8 years old🤣😂

Okay, I'm going to jump in with you and others and pick up knitting again. Tried it a long time ago following instructions from Elizabeth Zimmerman. She taught continental knitting and it made sense to me as a crocheter. it was going well, but it just took forever compared to crochet 😂.

I've been getting a little forgetful, so I decided to buy a few cheap crochet notebooks to keep track of what I'm working on. I bought 2 becuz I thought the covers were so "ME". The first one says " I'm an Amazing Hooker " and the 2nd one says "I Never Dreamed I'd Grow Up to Become A Sexy Crocheting Lady, But Here I Am Killing It!! 😅😹😂 I couldn't resist!!

Maggie Reghitti has a book “Knitting in Plain English”. It helped me learn how to pick up dropped stitches. Keep the unperfect knitting so you can see your progress. You can do it.

I can’t figure out how to pick up dropped stitches, I screw it up, then I get frustrated and quit…. I have crochet and knitting ADHD. Always going from one to the other. I love your videos!

Oh no! I’m so sorry. I hope he’s doing better. I was in the er earlier this week with my mom. The stress and worry is real. I have two faithful outlets…Amazon and sugar. I love them both dearly…but there’s a price…thankfully, I wear my watch on my hook hand I can crochet those calories away, not really, but I trick my mind into believe so. And Amazon…I have no way to justify that addiction other than I’m saving gas. 🤣😂 sending you hugs.

I am enjoying your channel. We have the same 12-year-old sense of humor! Wanted to add a couple of projects I’ve made but can’t figure out how to do it. Anyway, first, I made a “Temperature Blanket” last year. Used Caron Simply Soft and it ended up weighing 8 pounds! If you’re interested, go to The Yarnery. She has all the details. You will only crochet one row a day. The other pattern I think you would enjoy is “AmVaBe Crochet”. The pattern is “Halloween Devil”. He’s so cute and has a grass skirt! I did something very liberating. I boxed up small lots of yarn 12 skeins per lot and sold them on Facebook marketplace. I did this with the yarn that I don’t enjoy working with or that I have had forever. I’ve been crocheting long enough that I have figured out what I prefer to use and feeling like I have to use what I don’t enjoy using Made me feel anxious and overwhelmed.
it was also fun selling these small boxes of yarn to people on marketplace and meeting them at my meet up place. I’m still sorting and making decisions. It’s getting easier. And I am earning back some of what I spent.
I’m so proud of you! 👍 Last year, I made a complete break from my red heart yarn and gave it all to a friend. It was hard but I wasn’t sad to see it go. I’m hoping I can use this up, I have so many ideas, it’s just a matter of time. Why do my people always need to be fed? Seriously, I could crochet during that time. 🤪😂🤣 you’ll have to keep me updated on how your detaching goes!! I can tell the force is strong with you. 😁
@@therumimillcrochet I broke up with red heart too. The person who acquired it was very happy, and I will not buy anymore no matter how pretty the colorways. My human has moved back in and she said the one thing she was looking forward to was me feeding her. 🤦♀️

I started with crochet (30 years ago) and later learned knitting... the BEST advice i have is DO NOT learn the "american" way of doing it where you hold the yarn in your right hand... the euopean way of doing it (holding the yarn in your left hand) is much faster and you have more control so do not drop stitches as easily... the speed of the work is just so much faster! Don’t worry about the ones who leave, people sub and unsub all the time, it’s not personal. For the knitting thing, that scares the boogies outta me😂 but my tip for learning any new skill is always the same, find a project you want to make for a specific person, even if it’s you. I wanted to learn to crochet to make things for my grandkids, so I started making baby blankets for all of my friends’ grandbabies. By the time my grandson was born I was a pro at them. I’ve since moved on to Ami’s, I’m not a pro at those😂

BUT - they are super slick so maybe bamboo needles would help slow you down until you get a better handle of keeping your stitches on ?? 🤷♀ I often say that I am hell on wheels when it comes to intentions......it's just the execution part that lacks. That's a great list of intentions Cindy! I was shaking my head and saying yup that's me on a bunch of them lol I am also lazy when it comes to doing patterns. I want to make so many things, but I don't want to put the effort into making them lol I have a bad habit of feeling like a project should be done the same day, I don't like working on the same project for a long time and I plan on working on that this year. (Except for blankets obviously) Instagram is a big one for me too. I haven't posted in a hot minute and I need to work on that for sure too. In the last year I have gotten away from those types of social media and I barely get on there once every few weeks. So we will see lol I can't help with knitting. I know the knit stitch and that's it. I find knitting very tedious because I want projects to progress as fast as my crochet and it doesn't work that way. Looking forward to more videos from you, editing is not fun IMO 😂 I could never edit as much as you do, I don't have the patience. I think the same way when I see people have unsubscribe too or regular people that used to comment I think about too. But I try not to let it bother me too much because I know I'm not going to be everyone's cup of tea lol I'm sure you'll reach your CZcams goal, your channel is awesome! Friend, I cannot count the times I have started a crochet notes/project journal and then fallen off the wagon and stopped using it. I go back to a WIP or UFO and I don’t know what size hook I used…nothing. 😂It’s horrendous. I’ve started taking pictures with my hook. 😅 Never change that sense of humor. You’re my tribe. Lol
Also, my husband gifted me a whole set of interchangeable knitting needles for Christmas 3 years ago…don’t ask me if I’ve started…just don’t…😂 But I have admired them several times. 🤦🏼♀️

As far as learning to knit..start with small projects you love...
You already know how to crochet toys.. so find something to knit.
Small projects are easier to rip out and start again. You can do it. You are ready.
I like little cotton rabbits.. designs...
They are knit flat.

with knitting take one thing at a time. most important is you need to learn how to tink (knit backwards). Practice dropping stitches and fixing them too.

For excellent knitting tutorials, go to Very Pink Knits on CZcams. All of her videos are excellent. You can do it! I teach my second grade students to knit and I have faith in you. They can't read their knitting either, but the more you practice the more you will figure it out. Whatever you do, don't make a scarf your first project. It is a long, boring project and can easily turn you off of knitting. Please don't ever change your style/sense of humour. That is what attracted me to your videos. Keep up the fantastic work!!!
