Fantastic attacking skills from Fainga'anuku and RTS - unfortunately, their defence was shocking at times, which is probably more important at test level.
You're right and no probably about it. The lack of tight defenses in super rugby means it's hard to identify those players who can still score with limited opportunities.

@Stuart Plaster I think the biggest issue is I struggle to think of the number of absolute certainties. In the pack it's just Taukeiaho and Savea. All the others are a question mark. Nz thin on experienced locks so Retallick and Whitelock go in but age and form mean they're no longer dominant in those positions at international level. The backs are even worse with virtually every position having question marks around it. Aaron's too old. Mounga doesn't do it at test level, Barretts distribution sucks, all the second fives are incomplete players. Ioane distribution sucks and defense dodgy. All the back 3 are defensively weak with the exception of maybe Reese. You can hide the deficiencies of those backs with a strong forward pack, but NZ is probably only the 5th or 6th best pack in the world right now, if that.

Refs misinterpret the rule. Knee touching the ground is not the same as knee supporting the weight. Given the current understanding, the ref should have called tackle, if he saw it but given the wording of the law he entitled to make his call (if he even saw the knee).

As Cantab I gotta say it's great to see AKL being genuinely competitive for the whole 80 mins. It seems like it's been years since they were able to offer such an outstanding performance with a top tier team, and maybe their kingships will also be reinstated. That old rivalry will do more for Cantab rugby than anything else going into the next couple of world cups.

As a blues fan, the crusaders had text book try saving tackles.
Truly was the difference in the end: the saved at the minimum two tries.

I love it how people are saying that the crusaders were lucky to win that which they sort of were. But it’s not luck that puts the winning team on top, it’s the skill. The crusaders are just building up to their previous form that they were in last year in the final and semi final.

How Clarke is even considered for Ab is crazy. Absolutely horrible on Defense both in the tackle and positionally. The biggest back in the field and also the easiest to drop.

That try that Hoskins was denied is a joke, was a try all day. Yes he lost it, but he regathered it before it hit the ground, ergo he didn't lose the ball. There is an arguement to be make also that the Crusaders players stripped him and he regathered it.
Also, at 6:10 you can clearly see the Blues player got his knee to the ground and he was not held up.
Typical average saders saved by the ref.
That was my thoughts. I have seen these tries given- he had downward pressure on the ball before it hit the ground.

Some of the rules of Rugby Union baffle the mind/hurt the head. and ruin the game! A guy gets sin binned for 10 but they actually lose 2 players, this is the dumbest shit ever. It was a critical turning point that pretty much robbed the Blues and guaranteed the Crusaders won and gets supporters like me talking about that rather than the other good rugby.
Aaron, don’t get us started on Union’s rules. We’ll be here all day. Is it any wonder the game’s bleeding fans to League?
In terms of the actual Yollow carding, on these highlights we didn’t even get to see it. What? Why?

The best way to learn how to be a professional, is working\ playing besides experienced professionals. The things is, Razor has always had the best cattle. I´m not saying he´s not a good coach, but he hasn´t seen adversity. The way he threw his toys around to get the ABs job, i'm not sure how he´s going to handle adversity. He hasn´t taken a wooden spoon team to become champions like Gatland, Rennie, Joseph, and Schmidt.
So much inconsistency around the grounding of the ball for a try. Worse cases than Hoskins disallowed try 5:45 have been awarded since they used the ruling of "no clear separation of the ball". Happened in the weekend when someone lost control of the ball but grounded it with his forearm and it was deemed a try. Dafuq are these rules?

Im a South African about to moan about the ref. I was holding off heading for work to finish this game, ref mucked it up with the last call. The knee was clearly on the ground and he calls scrum to Saders and end to the game. He shouldv called ruck and advantage to Blues.
Our good friend, the Ref!, is obviously a man of good looks, a true gentleman with high intelligence and excellent vision. (Err Did I mention I'm a Crusaders fan? lol.) Cheers

Caleb Clarke found wanting again in defence when Leicester scored from the cross kick. I guess he was standing off to cover a potential pass, but it looked like he couldn't be arsed.

He said in the interview after the game he wasn't even meant to play because he had cartridge damage from an off field injury. But he wanted to play in this game to test himself against some of the best wingers. He wasn't even 100% and I knew he wasn't when I seen the 1st try I could tell something was up with him, he didn't look right but still had a amazing game!
If only the blues 12 could tackle he'd be a weapon. Missing tackles all over the park week in week out.
True. About a 50% tackling rate on the last two games by Sheck hasn’t been good. Even tho it was against two good attacking teams

Trys where not scored in the first place hence why they were disallowed, knock on does not count even over the line.
