Hey what do you recommend for a beginner pianist? Graded hammer action keys or just weighted. I want to keep a tight budget but i want something that feels realistic enough so the acquired skills will translate into playing acoustic. Thank you for all the work you have shared. Me as a beginner myself would recommend a keyboard. You may or may not like it. Being a beginner takes 1-3 year. focus on the fundamentals and then learn on a digital piano. It isn't that big of a difference if you don't pick up bad habits. A keyboard with a pedal shall do good enough. Semi weighted keys are actually worse than no weight at all😅. And no technology will feel the same as a real piano.
Weighted keys are better. Costco actually had a affordable weighted key keyboard. Don’t get anything where the keys are weightless or lacking resistance. The black keys will be a struggle if not used to weighted keys. No reason to break the bank, a few hundred bucks should land a good unit.
