    D.L. Hughley opened up to VladTV about his thoughts on generational wealth, his favorite comedians, and how comedy has helped humans evolve.
    When it comes to his favorite comedians, D.L. named off Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Redd Foxx, and Robin Harris, and he shared why Dick Gregory and Mark Twain illustrated the human condition in the best way. He also mentioned coming up with Jamie Foxx and being mad that someone could be as talented as the "Ray" actor.
    After sharing his thoughts on how Ellen was integral in the way people saw the gay community, D.L. explains how comedy has led to the evolution of humans. You can hear more about what he had to say in the above clip.

    His joke went right over everyone's head....that's why classic comedy is dead. Of course he doesn't think black people are literally jealous of gays. He is just making a point that gay rights have taken a front seat, and black rights have taken a back seat...no more no less.

    i hate when people equate being gay to being black like its the same struggle. being black is a race its not a sexual orientation. gay people come from all races whites included. its just not the same thing man.

    • @tok1879
      @tok1879 Před 6 lety +19

      Tommy Gunz, yea, it's like they're are saying being white is what is normal. And being black is abnormal. Truth is being white is historically the norm in Europe, being black is historically the norm in Africa. There's no place in this world where being gay is the norm. I wish black people will take a little more pride in their being and stop equating ourselves to a lifestyle that the majority of cultures across the globe deem to be a perversion.

    • @blowthewhistle3352
      @blowthewhistle3352 Před 6 lety +8

      its almost like their depriving blacks as race to be lesser than a sexual gender in gays.. your right gays come from all races, walks and creeds but if a "BLACK MAN" gay is he more important than his skin color which isn't a choice but a born inheritance?

      nyc letsgetit I didn't say anything discriminatory against gays. But if a homosexual so chooses he or she doesn't have tell anyone what their sexual orientation is they can just do it in private. Or just decide one day that they don't want to be gay anymore (which happens a lot) but can a black person just decide not to be black anymore? Or walk around and pretend to be white ? And have everyone refer to them as white like transgenders do with their imaginary pronouns? NOPE

    • @TommyGunzMusic
      @TommyGunzMusic Před 6 lety +11

      nyc letsgetit I didnt say weather It was chose or not I said some people are gay and then they choose not to be. And I know this for a fact because I have family members who have done it and it wasn't because of religion. Idk why they it MAYBE it was a phase or maybe they were confused idk its not my business I'm only saying that it happens. There's even a interview on the this channel with a guy telling his story about how he was gay and then one day he said no more and he straight as an arrow so I'm not making it up. Why do you keep trying to make this out to be an attack? But I guess that what y'all do anytime someone has an opinion. God forbid someone who doesn't agree with you to share their point of view right?

    As a Black Gay Man, I am surprised that he doesn’t know that the Gay Rights Movement was born out of the Civil Rights Movement. The Stonewall Uprising began because of Black and Latino Drag Queens. If you read history, African tribes, before colonization, saw what we call gay as honorable. So did Native American cultures. It was not until the exploitation of Africa and the Americas did attitudes change. The first laws did appear on the books until the beginning of the 20th century. Sadly, now the Gay community is being torn apart by racism. Now the the white gay community have the rights they want; they’re beginning to turn their backs on the minority gay community.

    alot of people took what he said out of context because how he worded it.. but to me it seem like he is lingering more to the fact that black people are more perplexed that gay's rights came at a very accelerated rate compared to black folks rights. dont forget we all cant articulate ourselves correctly everytime but body language and context clues will describe a situation better then words anyday. peace

      It took a long time for LGBT ppl to get married while blacks could always marry the same race...blacks always had rights, but are too into playing victim to realize this.

    • @Whitetooth1030
      @Whitetooth1030 Před 6 lety +91

      Akon Fenty I feel you. But I wouldn't say that, blacks been slaves in the states for 400 years and got beat, snatched away from families, raped in front of your husband/wife and put into ghettos with poor education and low income communities and then flooded them with drugs. And after them 400 years we finally got rights. Because don't forget Jim Crow laws and slavery being abolished except in prison which are mostly filled with blacks (percentage ratio wise) so idk what rights you talking about we been had because 400 years of slaves compared to the lil time we been free is not comparable and the time we have been free our leaders been killed and we still are preyed on to this day. Gays NEVER been through that only rights they didn't have was couldn't be married gay, nobody made them slaves 400 years, raped u in front yo families and institutionalized them, and targeted them specially for malice besides the few dick heads who just hate gays.

I am not homophobic and believe they're entitled to their rights, but they choose to advertise and flaunt their sexuality and carry their pity party everywhere! I don't introduce myself by my sexuality. I accept and love gays as I would anyone else, however, while I accept who you are and your choices, I don't believe in them. I feel like it's being pushed down our throats. I am thankful I am not raising children in this generation.

    Hey all, first my disclaimer so you know where my perspective is from is that I am a gay white man. I admit I have experienced the privileges of the systems of racism that have built America and I recognize the problems with systematic racism in modern America. I recognize that what many people consider problems within the black community are largely just reactions they have to the many terrible things that can be found in black history in America perpetuated by racists and hate, some of whom I am sorry may have been my ancestors.
    From my perspective, I think the LGBT+ community achieved recognition of rights faster because it is something that spans across racial divides and can be found in a variety of different people. In this way, I think it was easier for people of all different races to find someone they could relate to without seeing them as an 'other' as I think too many racists do with people of color. I like Mr. Hughley's insight into this without drawing problems by comparing the tribulations of either group.
    Prejudice is ugly no matter who it affects and no matter how insignificant it may seem, and we aren't combating prejudice by getting angry with those that also feel oppressed and abused over how prejudice makes us all feel. I think if more racists and bigots would remove themselves from their insulated world views and actually take the time to listen to someone they consider an 'other' they would see the humanity behind what seemed so different but really is quite similar.
    Thanks for reading, and keep fighting the good fight against cruelty, injustice, and prejudice. Peace.

      Fergal Brophy It's being promoted because it's a form of population control. 2 men nor 2 women can produce children. The other side of it is HIV/ AIDS and other STDs spread quickly because men by nature are promiscuous and can be reckless. That's the reality of things. No hate of fear. Now the good thing is by it now being "fashionable' to come out a lot of men can be who they are but most will still lead a double life anyway. I say just live your life, I don't need to be force fed and our children don't need to be indoctrinated. Do you.

    DL this is from an old G Queen I want your full video interview and it was really telling and wonderful funny but you are so knowledgeable I read your two books and when I was listening in the interview and you're talking about Mavericks flat and naturally I've always gone there and them was round when you got onto the subject of Bill Cosby that was interesting now I worked at the whiskey a-go-go in Hollywood as a cocktail waitress one of the few blacks that they ever had as a cocktail waitress if any and Bill would come in and you know we have a place called celebrity side of the room and Bill would give white women $100 only depending on how he feel even on give me 50 never ever spoke to me at all now he would frequent red foxes nightclub on La Cienega and we may be in there hanging out Camille will be sitting way in the back never saying word thank one night we saw Wes Montgomery you know Bill is all over the place that's one of the things that I knew about him now as white women and I know you remember you know they would almost come to our community and take our meant they were so cold but anyway your interview was excellent

    I heard what was said & question how much education has gone into D.L.'s comments? The LGBT community still has a long way to go. POC in general have work that needs to take place in this country. I think to compare the two in this way shows a projection of this persons presumption of importance in society. FYI the LGBT community still has Black people who are vocal, visible & PROUD. We are STILL struggling. Nothing comes easy to us. EVER!
