Hi In need of a serious help here.. Planning my first road bike.. really confused between two options.. Merida Scultra 100 2020 and Giant Contend 2 2020 What would be the perfect choice..
I was planning to get the Scultura 6000 but think I'll get the 4000 for my first road bike. I've been riding a commuter bike and it'll be a nice upgrade but don't want to break the bank! Still deciding between disc vs non-disc. My commuter has disc and my last rim brake bike was about 10 years ago and it broke. I don't ride in heavy rain (only light drizzle). There are a few downhills on my commute (max incline is around 8% for about 500m and others are around 5% for a few hundred meets too). Should I still get disc brakes or is rim okay? My concern is wearing our the brake surface on the rim quickly.
What did you end up choosing? I'm facing the exact same dilemma, trying to choose between scultura 4000 for a good price vs 6000 to get the better model when coming from a commuter bike (that I'll keep for work)
@@DominicLotters I was gonna get the scultura 6000 until they increased the price so I'll hold off for the time being. Supplies also low and 2021 just came out. The 5000 has a nice colour scheme too but non series crank...
Random DIY yeah, I don't understand the crank on the 5000. My LBS has a 2020 4000 in stock and it's been reduced to clear whereas the 6000s are all 2021 and priced accordingly.
@@DominicLotters yea i would have thought 105 crank and cassette paired with ultegra deraileurs and shifters would have been more appropriate. I'd go with the 4000 if it's price to clear.
Merida and Specialize have an agreement for Merida not to sell in the US otherwise it will hurt specialize sales/brand as they came from the same factory
Please cover speeder too! Thank you!
I love merida i have the merida scultura 904 comp with 36 46 cranks and a 46 cassette
