      @@AudioSorcerer You're very welcome, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this review of Mixbox. It would be good to see the presets available on the FX side of things, to see what else it is capable of other than mixing itself. What do you think of Mixbox compared to Steven Slate, Izotope Neutron and PSP Infinistrip? How does it differ from the rest? Thank you again!

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  Před 3 lety +1

      I think it's more versatile than Slate having effects and amp simulation built into it. The Slate VMR has more modules I would use regularly though like the blue 1176. For neutron, I usually only use that plugin when I'm not able to get the sound where it needs to be. I haven't tried the PSP yet but it's on my list.

      mr vad you can try it out for free, you know? It is not a mastering-box.. it's a mixbox. That means in comparison to the T-RackS-Suite you will get a lot of creative/musical effects that allow you to paint a picture in much broader and faster strokes. When it comes to Presets the Mixbox is a beast. It's a great tool for a faster workflow! So yes, this box is great for sound-design.. that's what it does. If you own enough other plugins from IKM you can get it for 100€ + vat atm

    Hi Mr Sorcerer, what a great review of Mixbox, it encouraged me to get a version of it to try for myself. i agree that it has everything that you need to mix a project from drums to voice. The High and low pass filters are available form so many other sources whether as stock plugins in a DAW to third party plugins, so it's easy to play around with them once you have stemmed your tracks, for example.Once again , great review and I will look out for your new and old videos which will help guide me to being a better mixer and producer of my projects. I’d have rather heard the two mixes level-matched, or at least a lot closer to being so.
    Having one mix considerably louder than the other can skew one’s perception when listening for the sonics of the processing.

    It actually makes perfect sense to be able to level match your processing in the mixer section so to not trick your ears. Remember that to the ears, louder is better. • @bsmiet8949
      @bsmiet8949 Před 3 lety +2

      it's a very different thing alltogether.. T-RackS is a Mastering-Suite.. it's for perfect fine-tuning.. for the last touch. Mixbox is a Mixbox.. it's for bigger musical and creative decisions in the mix. I already owned T-RackS-Suite.. the whole thing. Still bought the Mix-box yesterday, because it's exactly what I was missing from IKM... yes all of these plugins were already available in some of their plugins like amplitude, sampletank and syntronik (and I own all of them).. but I always hated the fact that I couldn't use the plugins from these Plugins on other tracks/instruments outside of amplitude, sampletank and syntronik. This Mixbox fixes things in a big way - for me.

    • @donnythompson408
      @donnythompson408 Před 3 lety +1

      BSmiet89 - T-RackS in itself isn’t just a mastering program, (though IK makes the Suite, which you mentioned, and is designed specifically for that)...
      T-Racks makes all the processors that are in this new MixBox 500 Series rack as stand-alone VST/AU plugs, so if you have any of these individual processors, you can use them with any DAW platform, they don’t require any type of “shell” or IK rack system to use them.
      I’m not implying that I think that this MixBox rack is a bad thing; not at all... and for the price it’s certainly worth it, particularly for those who prefer to purchase their plugs outright as opposed to paying monthly or annual subscription rates to companies like Slate or McDSP, to get their similar 500 series processors (nor am I knocking these other companies, either)...
      But, as a user of T-RackS plugs for many years, I can say that, comparative to the stand-alone T-RackS plug-ins, there are some important features on some of the standalone VST plugs that have been cut, in order to scale them down to fit into this virtual 500 series rack. Examples of this, would be things like the SSL-style EQ not having HPF/LPF, or the 670 Limiter being VERY stripped down in its controls, etc.
      But again, at the price, it’s well worth having if you don’t own the standalone versions of any of the T-RackS plugs. And, according to IK’s website, there are discounts available for those customers who have already spent a certain amount with IK in the past.
      FWIW

    • @bsmiet8949
      @bsmiet8949 Před 3 lety +1

      @@donnythompson408 well you are wrong when you think that the T-RackS makes all of the plugins that are available in the Mix-Box. I'll have to repeat myself and tell you that the Mix-Box is intended for broader, faster, more musical and creative strokes.. which is what I define as the Mixing/Production-stage.
      You are right you have more knobs on the T-RackS-Suite Plugins (and I own the full Suite too).. and thus you are able to fine-tune better.. which I define as the Mastering-stage of a Production... but you are missing a lot of effects that come with sampletank/syntronik and Amplitude that are really helpful for sounddesign when you only have the Suite. Even if you own Snytronik, SampleTank and Amplitude (which I do) the Mix-box is a great tool.. for the simple reason that I can not use the Syntronik/SampleTank Plugins on any Track that is not a Syntronik/SampleTank Track. The Amplitudeplugin I can use.. buuut it's limited to the Amplitude-Plugins and is very heavy on the CPU... so if I only want to use 1 or 2 of the Amplitude-Plugins on a Track I still would have to put on the Amplitude-plugin as a whole. The Mixbox fixed a major issue with the Mixing/Production-stage plugins from IKM... that's my take on it. Plus it's quite handy and speeds up the workflow considerably (for me).
      I just did a mix.. guess what.. I used the Mixbox on Instrument-groups, the verse, the hook and the double-bus, but I decided to use the T-RackS-Suite for the Voxmix-bus, the Beatmix-Bus, the overall Submix-bus and the Masterbus. (and I used single Plugins for the send-effects)
      But I agree that I would have liked a Lowcut and Highcut option for all the Plugins in the Mixbox, maybe seperate from the plugin itself and underneath where you have the wet/dry-fader. However the EQ-81 comes with a low/highcut option.. so if you really need it you can always put in the EQ-81.
      PS: You can use the Mixbox in any DAW too.. but yes, the Plugins that come within the Mixbox are not available as Standalone Plugins by simply buying the Mixbox..

      Audio Sorcerer - with all due respect, you could still demonstrate the before and after difference(s) with both being the same relative volume level...
      Render a mix without processing, then do a version with the processing... import both mixes into your DAW, and match the levels of both to a level of somewhere around -18db LUFS (I), and THEN A/B them.
      This way, the huge difference in volume isn’t skewing our perception of what the processing has done to the mix.
      My hunch is, that if you had reversed the two versions, and made your original, unprocessed mix louder than the MixBox mix... and then played the processed, quieter mix first, and then played the unprocessed but louder mix after that... that more than a few would have perceived the louder, unprocessed mix to sound “better” than the processed but quieter mix.

      Hey Donny, I appreciate your input. As mentioned above, the tutorial was about hearing a song mixed using MixBox. I put the before version in as a bonus. It wasn't necessary for someone to get the jist of what MixBox sounds like. Thanks for checking out my video.

Oh no, because blending a Wet/Dry signal for a compressor is something noones ever heard of........... I mean..... You have 900 subscribers and I'm not sure what to make of that.
