- Sonic Classic Heroes is a Rom Hack for the Sega Mega Drive that is the result of a collaboration between flamewing and ColinC10, combining their respective rom hacks of Sonic 2 Heroes and Sonic 1 and 2. It's now a single rom that offers the entire campaigns of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, either alone or together; and enables the player to play as many characters such as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. The name of the game was due to the ability to control a team of characters, which is reminiscent of the more recent 3D game Sonic Heroes.
The rom hack is built on Sonic 2’s engine, which has been enhanced by both flamewing and ColinC10 to have new features. These include:
✪ Multiple gameplay elements from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, such as element shields and character-specific abilities.
✪ The ability to save progress, scores, etc. to SRAM (something rarely implemented in Sonic 2, with the other notable example being Esrael’s Sonic 2 Delta).
✪ Various bug-fixes and improvements to the mechanics of the original games.
✪ And many more features, both implemented and planned.

So it's that time of the year again, and I feel like it's starting to become a sort of tradition to try and do a speedrun on a birthday. Now, technically this category doesn't exist (at least not yet I believe), but I did promise from the first time showing off the update that I'll try and do a speedrun on it at some point, so I'm fulfilling that promise today!
- Notes on the run -
First couple of attempts before this were pretty much getting familiar with the routes again, but in an overall standpoint this was really good. There were a few minor mistakes in certain acts that were mostly the reason how sub 30 didn't happen here, but to even think I was super close to it, makes me confident in going for another run to make it happen.
In comparison to the previous version of the game, I feel like the speed had increase. Gaining either speed shoes or the "S" monitors help increase your speed, which in this case is a great advantage.
Still not sure if this is some sort of glitch, but literally less than 5 seconds into the start of the run, somehow the score & life counter had skyrocketed to 99. On one hand it actually helps save time because every time you finish an act, an extra life is rewarded, which I think costs you about 5 seconds. On the other, this sort of thing comes unexpectedly I guess, much like the same scenario with the playthrough I did previously, it just happened out of nowhere.

This was one hype and amazing speedrun!! This is probably one of my most favorite parts of your uploads is seeing you speed through everything the most efficient way. While its not TAS, seeing the intensity of the gameplay really makes it seem as if it actually is. Checked into Twitter and saw that it was your birthday; I hope you enjoyed it and continue being my favorite CZcams gamer!! 🎂🌟

Sonic classic heroes is just awesome and seeing sonic the hedgehog 2 in theaters would be even awesome and I like sonic, tails and knuckles going team hyper!

I love how everything was going Hyper Sonic speed, then you had to relax and slow down at Sky Chase, letting all the Flickies do the work
Nice speedrun on Sonic Classic Heroes! I love this ROM Hack, and I'm glad you're pulling off a speedrun on it. Also, Happy Birthday! I figured out what day your birthday was thanks to last year's birthday special speedrun. And today's also the day the Sonic Movie 2 releases to theatres! Maybe a birthday present from SEGA themselves? I want to see the movie real bad, not gonna lie.

GHZ Act 1:
Sonic: this is the easiest act I have dealt with in my 30½ years of existence
GHZ act 2:
The flickies circling around Tails' head: Robotnik? WHERE YOU AT B^TCH?!
GHZ Act 3: Team Hyper was going to chug, they were going to choo, they were going to turn Robotnik into a Goomba...and they did.
After Marble Zone got its ass kicked, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the Flickies were just high-tailing Spring Yard. Knuckles was gliding for a bit, just taking in all the beautiful, and by beautiful I actualy mean bland purple scenery. Labyrinth Zone was as easy as it would be to make a Flipaclip animation of Tetris out of some toy blocks and a cardboard drawing of the Flipaclip logo. The 3 final zones Star Light, Scrap Brain/Clock Ork and the Final Zone/SBZ Act 4 (Sega kind of lost their naming scheme when naming the Final Zone just like they completely lost all creative thought when hiring random people to help work on the zones in Sonic Forces. Sega, we are dissappoint). The same thing I said about Sonic 1 applies to the Sonic 2 (Heroes) part of SCH, but I might touch on it when i feel like it. Hope you got a chuckle out of reading this.
