  • Driving the D211A in France, also known as Auris balcony road or Route de la Roche. I drove from La Garde to Le Freney-d'Oisans. This road doesn't deserve just a number! The awe-inspiring balcony road overlooks the Romanche valley from high above and is definitely the longest balcony road I've driven so far. Much advised if you're looking for a fun drive!

    I just drove it (by mistake) last week and there are certainly sections that are white knuckle terrifying! Really amazing that a road could have been built here at all. Next time I will take the valley road from Les 2 Alpes to Alpe D'Huez. The only road scarier may be the Les Travers (D220) across the valley!

      It's a mountain street(only saw the thumbnail) and that means, drive it like a hill climb race track. In the limits of your track, I only get to the other lane when I can see clearly there comes nothing. I would say, in an border area, so that the police let you drive away but also you have some fun. Never the less never head less. When you can't overtake or it's to many traffic, you let it. Never get you our other in problems, this can be a family what you might cut. But when you have clear drive, I would drive in all this limits to have a little fun. It's just normal to me...

    The truly strange thing when driving there is, that there is a lot of traffic. When I did this street on my motorbike August 2021 I met three trucks and more than a dozen cars comming contrary. Luckily I was always on the hill side. The strangest thing was, that there also children were driving their bycicles litterally aside a drop of vertical 500 meters!

    D211A...D is for Departemental route, I think this route isn't departemental, it's communal or even Rural (that's why it's very narrow). Departemental routes are much wider (for big circulation). If I'm not wrong At 0.24 you leave the départemental route.

    Zugegeben, eine überwiegend einspurige Straße, we sie in den Alpen nicht unbedingt selten sind. Dafür aber mit dem entsprechend geringen Gegenverkehr!
    Deshalb will und will es mir nicht in den Kopf, warum man hier und anderswo unbedingt derartig brettern muss. In einer derartig schönen Landschaft sollte man diese doch tunlichst genießen. Vorausgesetzt, man hat überhaupt einen Draht zur Natur!

    • @GeDoBa

    • @martian9999
      @martian9999 Před 3 lety

      jeder nach seinem eigenen Fasson, finde ich. Die externen Effekte sind ja bei einem Teslafahrer gering. Ein Motorrad z.B. wäre selbst bei langsamerem Tempo viel störender.

    • @a5r2g9j4
      @a5r2g9j4 Před 3 lety

      @@martian9999 Es geht überhaupt nicht um stören oder nicht stören. Wer so etwas antwortet, hat den Sinn nicht verstanden. Es geht darum, dass man durch eine wunderschöne Berglandschaft oder über Traumstraßen mit normaler Geschwindigkeit fährt auch mal hinter dem Vorausfahrenden her, der die Landschaft genießt, und versucht die Landschaft während der Fahrt zu genießen. Wer immer mit dem Fuß auf dem Gas steht und eine Strecke nur unbedingt in möglichst kurzer Zeit durchfahren will, hat überhaupt nichts begriffen! Falls es nur darum geht, die Beschleunigungsmöglichkeiten eines Tesla zu demonstrieren, sollte bitteschön auf dem Nürburgring fahren. Da kann man Bleifuß fahren, ohne irgendetwas zu verpassen!
