G’day Shroom, I’ve always fished with prawns no matter where I went, George’s, Parramatta, Hawkesbury, the Bay or Port Hacking. I’ve always had success with them. I’ve just come home from fishing at Fraser Island and once again, prawns brought in the big thumper’s again. These are a great bait. Great video mate….

On Monday, I landed first Jew fish in my life using a jig 20g at 10 in the morning. It’s happened to be it happened to be the same size. you caught. now I am more excited to go after another one.🤙
I’ve caught some on jigs to it’s surprising how much they like them

I was just there today and pulled a fat black fish from under that wharf. They fight pretty damn hard. The fishing has been pretty good in that area after all the rain. I'ma fish every day, maybe I'll run into you lol. Good video, Shroom.

A lightly weighted peeled prawn (tiny split shot) if no current will catch near any fish

Hey shroom, i noticed you just left the hook inside the catfish mouth, ive heard this is the best method for gut hooked fish, is that true? Also did u just not touch it because of the venom?
Yes that's right Johnathon. Sometime it's the better method of release when yanking the hook out would cause more internal damage. The fish can survive if I just cut it and let nature take its course. It'll either be able to spit it out later or end up been excreted at a later stage if it doesn't rust out. Yes they have a spine above their head that can cause excrutiating pain that may need hospitalisation so best to be wary

Both, usually I don’t have much squid but yakkas and other flesh baits are often caught there or saved from another sesh

Is the red eye on the Jew light reflection?
Any animal with a good amount of night vision reflects a red or other coloured light. Humans Jew fish get red eyes , dogs are a slight difference and cats also, you can tell the colour of a fox eye reflection between the sheep around them. 😊

Some good fish. I would be happy with that mulloway on the live bait every day of the week. Can I ask what the reason is for the bead between the running sinker and swivel? Thanks.
Thanks Cubesy, I enjoy every catch, and Mulloway just make my day or night! The bead helps in reducing braid tangles around the sinker for me. Some people are adamant it is there to protect the knot

Depends, you'll have to test. Usually uniknot but lighter braids and more slippery ones I have used the polomar knot

You can use tailor Paddy but getting one at 30cm+ is usually the difficult part. I'm starting to save up some yakka fillets for future sessions

@@ShroomFishing they are things you can hear clicking at low tide under the rocks or in the weed beds, if you listen carefully. Bream go nuts for them.
There is a special technique to catching them.

Absolutely not. I can't fish in areas where fishing is prohibited (i.e. ferry wharf). I wish I could though!

Wouldnt it be worth investing in or making (or getting made) some clamp-on or proper Jetty rod holders? Save future heartache of losing outfits. Dont alwsys get them back.
Matui, I might look into it. Sometimes we do bring rod holders, the rod that went overboard was some poor random blokes combo but we got it back after dragging hooks and sinkers across the area

Do the lights on the ferry wharf stay on all night?
Yes BUT I think they all dim a lot at various times at night. Some dim shortly after midnight others around say 2am etc

Try some bacon fat were not the only things that love that shit 👍🏽 you ever fish for pike or Arctic grayling
But then again when your paying free dollars for bait you can’t go wrong

Might have to look into it. The rod that went in was someone else's on the wharf so I'm not sure how he had it set up. Apparently a jewfish took it and it went waterskiing but we got it back in the end
