@@JMoss_8374but it’s impossible to downgrade iPhone 4s to iOS 5, unlike to iOS 6. And it’s almost impossible to get an iPhone 4s still running ios 5. I got mine with ios 9 for around 15$ locked to at&t and seems like it almost wasn’t used - perfect condition for a device which is over 12 yo, even battery is still very good. Unlocked it, downgraded to ios 6 and it is really insane.
Yeah, but it’s very difficult to downgrade to iOS 5, but iOS 6 is much easier

Definitely don't forget to replace the battery, if you do end up repairing this. Old batteries often tend to swell-up, it's a chemical reaction that produces gas inside of the battery, and this makes the battery unstable and a fire hazzard.

he should replace it if the battery starts to swell even a little bit because it will going to swell so much that it would probably break the already damaged screen
If you're opening up such an old device, you should replace the battery anyways. Old batteries and batteries that haven't been used in a long time have a high risk of swelling. You will save yourself a headache and possibly a lot of money by replacing the battery while you're in the phone, rather than wait untill it burns down your house, or explodes in your face.@@eylemuyavul3055

i've been using an iphone 4 for SMS and its surprisingly functional, i can call/text and i can even use the personal hotspot to run my other devices. i can actually scroll twitter or use imessage reliably. super impressed with the old iphones tbh

man i used to use my 4s all the time when i was a kid, at the time i mostly play racing game on it and sometimes use youtube on it but now my 4s doesn’t have a battery (because i have to get rid of it after it have been puff up for more than 4 years sitting in the shelf) and before that the back plate was completely cracked but it got replaced and i was gonna ask the repair shop to replace the battery too but they don’t have it in stocks and now it mainly just a prop that sitting in my backpack with my other 2 iphone 4 waiting to get a battery replacement someday, seeing you using the 4s make me want to use mine even more
For those wondering what it's like playing GD full version on an iPhone 4. It won't update to the latest version but rather it'll update to 2.0. It's pretty buggy from experience but it was nice to revisit one of the golden ages of the games

My friend still uses an IPhone SE
In countries that still allow the device to be activated, I’m sure you can still make a phone call with it. Most of the western countries no longer allow phones which don’t support VOLTE to be activated on their network.
T-Mobile and it's MVNOs still offer 2G/EDGE networking which the 4s supports. So you still can activate them if said MVNO doesn't have a device whitelist.
EDIT: Buuut I forgot to mention they are planning on shutting it down in April 2024
Anywhere other than America supports 2G until 2030
Summary, it's very much usable, I still use a 2G, iOS 3 has abundant amount of apps, so I can only imagine how much app support iOS 9 has.

i remember using an iphone 2gs when my friends all had 5s and i slowly upgraded to a 3gs while everyone was on 6s and i missed out on so many apps cause the phone couldnt even run the damn things which sucked sooooooo much cause of the fact everyone got to experience stuff like snapchat and flappy birds etc and i was sitting here with old apps that barely ran

about brazil we are only using 4G and 5G cell towers but they are powerfull enough to also transmit 3G and 2G so we basically have all the signals/network types even dont supporting them anymore

Yes and no. It's no longer supported by Apple for software updates so it might not be able to run the latest apps or efficiently handle newer features introduced in recent years. But it still function for basic tasks like calls, texts and light browsing
The UK allows use of 2G, 3G, 4G and of course 5G networks. I think we’re set to decommission 3G soon. However, I’ve not heard plans to decommission 2G, so maybe they are keeping it alive to support legacy devices
i think all providers in the UK except 02 is shutting down 3G in 2024 and 02 is shutting down 3G in 2025
Tbh at least on the newer versions of app store apple should hide incompatible apps and at least say their minimum ios on the error, sometimes it just says not compatible

1-Here in Brazil, we have started to upgrade to ESIM it’s slowly happening In America almost everyone uses ESIM or I misunderstood you? 2- Besides 3G is still up most people use 4G and most cities cover 4G 3- Tell your friend to not worry he won't catch Monkey Poke and turn on a monkey if he comes to Brazil😂
Hey yes it’s slowly happening in the USA with ESIM- ie, iphone 15 are only esim. When I said they aren’t using sim in USA I meant to say the size in the video specifically

I really miss iPhone 4 haha. I remember I used to spent countless hours playing Minecraft on that phone until I upgraded to 6.
I think I still have one at my house, but the battery dried out and the power button somehow stuck. I bet it will work (as a gaming device) again if it's fixed and downgraded to maybe iOS 6 or 7.
8:40 i had the same problem with my 4s running ios 9 and trying to use jet pack, the way i got it working was jail breaking the iphone and after that jet pack launched. weird right?
to use an iPhone 4s and get it's max potential you can jailbreak it and downgrade it to iOS 6, because iOS 9 is too modern for the little chip of the phone, it runs like hot trash, people have made so much work arounds in iOS 6 you can even run Discord in it, and it would still work the same :o)

Smash Hit is what got me to click, absolute classic game. Same guy did a game called Pin Out that was a runner style game where you make your way up a really long pinball table. Both great phone time wasters, and they work on modern iOS.
I downgraded my 4s to iOS 6 because I made it an iPod basically, so for music iOS 6 runs so much better. The iPod always remembers you play position, never just randomly forgets you were in a playlist. It’s connected to the car and the goal is to get all the songs to play, but something always happens like pressing one of the on screen buttons on the cars screen. iPod is always on the glove box
I got my hands on a brand new 4S and I’m still trying to figure out how to add music on it to use it as an iPod.

hungary is using repuposed 3g towers for 5g in some cities and thats really clear on speedtests

We still have 3g towers here in canada. Im actually visting my family in brazil also at the moment, they have all sorts of cool phones here.
I never had the iphone 4s but i had the ipod touch 4 and 5.
My country (Portugal) still uses 2g and 3g networks and by 2024 they will shutdown 3g but I think 2g will stay because they didn't mention anything about 2g.

I had a iPhone 4 not the 4s the 4 as my first iPhone and that was really fun. I so wished I kept it on ios 6 though. I still have the box for it too, I used to jailbreak it so much too, even using the slide to unlock for the lightsaber sounds was cool. Its still jailbroken right now on the ios 7.1.2 which I even installed a tweak that can even roll back to ios 6 lol.

In 2016 my ex-girlfriend still had it (since 2014) and it was already failing her a lot and she became jealous of how good the Moto G was in 2014 (which i changed in 2016) so we both bought the Moto G4 and the truth is that she loved the change. Definitely better screen and performance. But I must say that that cell phone was very beautiful.
