  • What’s the most devalued car in the world right now? Well one is an electric Porsche...naturally we love a deal, and so we think as a used car - this could be the best money you ever spent? Ok well maybe not, its still depreciating BUT think of all the money you have saved!!!! And those poor pcp buyers.
We love The Taycan and we ask those all important questions like: Is the Taycan Turbo S faster than a Tesla? How much is a Porsche Taycan Electric and more...
We sent Howard Ritchie off to do one in the Porsche Taycan Turbo from Leasing.com and we ask:
    1. How much battery does the Taycan Turbo use in the real world?
    2. How fast is a Taycan Turbo compared to other cars for similar money?
    3. Is the Porsche Taycan Turbo too expensive?
    4. How easy / how much is it to charge a Taycan?
    5. Does the electric Porsche have tech like a Tesla?
    6. Can you do normal stuff with it?
    7. What is the experience like?
    00:00 - 00:27 - Stats.
00:52 - 01:30 - How fast is the Taycan compared to other cars.
    01:32 - 02:53 - Practicality, parking, and cameras.
    02:55 - 04:29 - Is it too expensive?
    05:00 - 05:47 - Practicality.
    05:47 - 06:30 - Infotainment.
    06:46 - 07:45 - How to charge the Taycan.
    07:46 - 08:16 - All Taycan ranges explained.
    08-19 - 08:52 - Who it's for.
    08:54 - 10:38 - Verdict
    10:43 - 11:46 - What we don't like & real world range result.

What an absolute pleasure this review was, as usual with HR in a Car. Ahem! ;)
As a Tesla 3 LR owner, and former 944t owner, the Taycan turbo S is a car I’d aspire to. If I were more materialist, if I were loaded, if I truly was bothered by the foibles of our current car. I miss the handling of even my 30 year old “poor man’s Porsche.”
The size of the Taycan makes me wish it were an estate or Panamera in EV - it’s too big for our city use basically, and not useful enough forfull family duty. There are also some ergonomic concerns you’ve highlighted. If however it were a more affordable Cayman EV with two doors and a proper frunk, I’d be on it like stink for my own selfish pleasure.
All to say, I can’t wait for the second and third efforts from Porsche, and EVs of all kinds are about to get even better. Thank you for an outstanding overview.

Very nice video. Cool headed. I get about 280 miles on my 4S. There's a button for the seat heater in case you ever get back in one again. PS The base radio is very good also. PPS my garage door is 6" wider than my car and because of the parking system I haven't hit the pillars yet.

    • @ronb4633
      @ronb4633 Před 2 lety +2

You really do not need to turn on regen mode to make the car efficient. The brakes transition and use regen when possible. I frankly never use regen unless I am going down a long hill. I think his range may have been more affected by any sudden accelerations he did to verify it was a Porsche. I know after even nearly a year I still have that need. :-)
Also I get about 265mi range with 70-80mph roadways and 20” wheels.

@@davidowen2859 I have a 2021 Turbo S and I am getting about 200-220-ish, but I am pretty much 100% in super sport with regen-on, much of that with windows down and a mix of highway and freeway driving. That will drop if am doing more hard mountain driving . With that said, getting pretty comfortable with understanding what to expect, and understand my option to charge in greater area if needed but normally charging at home is sufficient for me.

Battery size doesn't matter in real life. Fast charging does. For example: Brussels-Switserland is 10min faster with the taycan with the big battery compared to the one with the small battery. That is why the Taycan beats most Tesla's in the 1000km ev challenge.

I would say you can fit two good size suitcases in the back, and yes the seat fold down (at least in my Turbo S as optioned). I have a Weather tech matt in the back, and load up all kinds of stuff. Probably about as much space as my Audi S7 in the back.

It’s like nobody has ever had to wait at a petrol pump. Also nobody can full their car with petrol from home but you can charge over night which is not only easily but much cheaper than petrol.
Furthermore, if anyone goes on a road trip or drives a long distance they’d stop for food/drinks/toilet/stretch legs etc anyway so why not charge while you’re eating, drinking or in the bathroom?

You travelled 40 odd miles and the range dropped 84 miles leaving 104 left. Ok you stood still for a time but you never appeared to be travelling particularly fast and that level of range is not close to being adequate in the real world. On a trip to the Nurburgring, just over 400miles and admittedly a lot of motorway use, our turbo had to be topped up 5 times and charging network not perfect, especially in the UK. As you say if you just potter about charging at home fine but who spends £140K on a car to potter around. Good car the Taycan but jury still out from a usability standpoint.
