For those who don't know, the OVA is an "adaptation" of a visual novel released back in 1999. What makes it even stranger is that the visual novel really doesn't have much to do with the OVA outside of like, the characters and the very vague premise. It's like someone looked at the cover of the VN and tried to then adapt it.
It later got remade into Subarashiki Hibi, which is one of the most highly regarded visual novels ever made.
Sad to see people focus on this dumb OVA and disregard the actual masterpiece of the VN. I'd much have preferred an episode about the VN than this shit
Just commenting for those curious that Tsui no Sora 1999 also got a remake in 2020 that fared well over the original and expanded more from it. Worth noting the team of Tsui no Sora also made H2O Footprints in the Sand which got an actual anime season that did decent. The team of KeroQ and Makura are extremely talented, making some of the best in the industry like Sakura no Uta/Toki though a shame this OVA doesn’t do justice to its material. I know Kara no Shoujo, another vn masterpiece, also has an OVA which doesn’t do it well either.

Ya know, as someone who just recently finished Subarashiki hibi I can definietly say that it is a shining example of a studio taking something they did in the past that they knew was garbage and turning into a fucking masterpiece
I feel really bad for the staff that made this OVA. It makes me sad thinking that there were actual artists involved like it's only one episode, there must've been ways to make it better. And just thinking about how the creators felt after releasing this OVA makes me kinda depressed because for sure they knew how bad it was and that there was no turning back. I don't know what happened to the artistic intent creating this

I’m like 80% sure the plot was supposed to be this “main antagonist” is insane or something, and believes in this thing called End Sky which he’s using as an excuse to justify his heinous crimes? Then the girl who’s a ghost now explains that End Sky isn’t a thing and he’s lying to himself End Sky exists in order to justify everything he’s done is ok since the world is about to end.

Subarashiki Hibi is actually a remake of Tsui no Sora. It was the creator attempting to recreate his very first visual novel using his current skills and philosophy. Apparently it paid off, since most people don't seem to know Subarashiki Hibi was a remake.

I actually think the eroge could be good, because there is a "not-so-bad" scenario ; I mean it's poorly constructed but it talks about unusual subjects that could've been well exploited...
The biggest problem in this is the production : the animation and background are almost inexistant, the voice acting is ridiculous and gosh, the transitions are SO BAD !!😝

I'm glad someone brought to light Subahibi... I know Joey doesn't do much when it comes to VNs on this channel anymore, but I would love for him to give us a review of Subahibi, since it's a million times better than what Tsui no Sora was aiming to be.
Now I'm curious to see a review of Kojin Taxi that came out at least four years later. Not exactly a competition here but I'd like to see which one Joey prefers over based on story, animation, and dialogue
