Watching you made me start taking an interest in developing the skill. A few years ago I ordered from you some pad strips, UV resin, and a few other things to repair a video card. I did it, but it took weeks of practice to be confident enough to try to mess with an expensive video card. Fast forward to today and I now have a job at a big public university, fixing instruments in their chemistry department. I just saved a $40,000 instrument control board, using pad strips and UV resin. Unfortunately, I didn't order these from you (government rules and whatnot), but it made me think that I should drop you a line. Thank you for the inspiration that's lead me to a better career. @@ortzinator I volunteered to work on damaged stuff in my previous position, and gained a reputation of being willing to at least try to fix stuff. Even if I was able to fix 50% of what I attempted, it still saved the department thousands of dollars. Then when I made the leap to this position, I had references who knew what I could do.
I think a lot of people really underestimate big bosses skills. The ability to take apart so many electronic devices quickly without breaking them and then putting them all back together correctly is not easy.
The time when power is on I'm kinda excited and when it's booted I nearly jump. Thank you for another knowledge, and thank you Big Boss for your magic hand.

MSI are one of the few manufacturers that have the EC firmware downloadable from their site, but in many cases EC firmware can be programmed though the keyboard connector if you find your in a tough spot and out of options, but obviously you have to have the firmware and not every manufacturer makes it available.

I envy your ability to reach down and grab/hold a chip in one motion without shaking too much and grabbing that chip so solidly. I still struggle to grab onto a chip that I just placed without disturbing its position and having to realign it.

Good job. Some super io chips don't need programming. Many sellers you buy it from will make you aware first if it does or not, as some have it written clearly in their description

I have a chinese unbranded laptop that is not fixable. I am using its board to learn and practice BGA soldering. Every chip on the board has a white rectangular silkscreen marking as to where that chip belongs and what orientation, too.
I am interested in purchasing a hot tweezers soldering station. Some "American" brands that are made in other countries are much too expensive. The magic hands of Big Boss! Congratulations on the win and thanks for the updated video.

yah man, shipping to canada in insane, there are some books on ebay $10 with $30 shipping. Or small things, even our inter province shipping is absolutely nuts.

big boss is Mabrook (blessed in arabic) , Gaming laptops are expensive but they are Fragile ,take care of your device don't stress it too much , turn it off for a few hours between time you're using it ,it will last way longer than they want it to last.Specially the new ones are really expensive but built so cheaply .

Hey everyone! I hope everyone will be fine. I got ASUS G15 Advantage Edition 2 months ago. It's fully updated to Windows 11. It was running fine, most often i use it for my office tasks but from yesterday when i press power button the laptop starts but the screen is turned off and i dont see an ASUS logo and hear ASUS sound. When i turn it off by holding power button for 2-3 times then my laptop boots up properly. Anyone here who can tell me what's the problem exactly???
This is how a business should be conducted: when a customer comes in and expects you to work on their device for free, fully aware that there's a 50/50 chance, the customer wants to take advantage of you and expects no fee for a 'diagnostics.' Obviously, as a shop, you need to be upfront about this prior to working on the device.
Great Job Alex. You are very good. Big boss looks great. Just want to know if you repair laptop GPUs too. I have and acer predator helios 300 (rtx 2060) with bad memory bank.
The EC (aka. KBC) definitely requires programming outside the motherboard, if you solder an empty EC the system will not boot. So someone must have programmed the new EC with the correct firmware.
On some boards the BIOS can program EC when it's empty. But most of the time you need to have EC programmer and maybe use the keyboard connector to access and program it.
@@nochkin The biggest issue I can think of that prohibits that is platform power sequencing in laptops. Like the BIOS runs on the CPU, but the CPU is not getting core voltage until the EC turns on the VRM.

My old MSI board EC chip had external eeprom chip which holds fw for EC so you could flash it easily.
