    Great video, Busy because it's the summer peak season. Plus your never going to have a massive airport in a country that has a population smaller than the average city.

    Wow, this was 100 times more crowded than our arrival, but to be fair, we landed at 6:20 AM, in March 2022 (not high season).

    I was there a couple of weeks after you, also flying United but from ORD. In my case, we exited the plane onto the tarmac but then immediately entered the airport. The immigration line for me wasn’t nearly that long and I don’t remember it being that crowded. Hope you enjoyed the trip, Iceland’s a cool place.

      The immigration line is longer for Non EU citizens, for EU citizens it’s usually quite quick.

    Thanks for posting! I haven't traveled internationally by plane, and am taking my first trip next month for work. I also haven't been on an airplane since I was 11 (a long time ago!). I have a layover in Iceland on the way to abd from Ireland. I won't need baggage claim, but your video was helpful. Now to figure out if I will need to still stand in customs for a layover.

    I took the red eye from Newark and when we arrived it was still dark and the airport was empty. We found it to be so quick to get through. Our bags were coming out when we got to the baggage claim. We went to the bus outside to the rental car and were on our way within a half hour of landing

    • @VirtCam
      @VirtCam  Před 17 dny

      What time of year was it? Both arrival and departure were incredibly busy lines outside the airport just to check in luggage. That doesn’t even include the security. I didn’t even film the departure but it’s nothing like you just described during the month of June

    Between the bus and customs, do you think and hour and half is a enough time to transfer to another flight at KEF?

    • @NeurodivergentGuy2023
      @NeurodivergentGuy2023 Před 11 měsíci +2

      If the transfer is a USA to the UK or Dublin then you won’t need to do any customs at Reykjavik and your flight will depart from the same area, if it’s a transfer to mainland Europe then you need to leave enough time to get through passport control.

      It's about the passport you have, so will have to go to "other passports". But you'll most likely not need to pass passport control since you arrive from Schengen area. You'll arrive in a different part of the airport.

    It looked like the passport line was long - especially for non-EU nationals. I'm a dual American-Irish national (live in the 'DC area) and was thinking of transiting flights in Iceland to go to Europe. Did it look to you that the line for EU nationals was shorter than for non-EU nationals? Did they get through faster? My plan is to use my Irish passport in the EU/EEA to cut time off of the lines

    4:09 Everyone using this video to plan an arrival to Reykjavik should know that the process of arrival to all Schengen countries will change! The EU will require all non-EU citizens to have their face scanned and leave finger prints in addition to longer and more detailed questioning because of the rising numbers of travelers passing through the EU and the associated risks. People will also need to fill out something similar to the ESTA application currently mandatory for people visiting the US called ETIAS, but that's a completely different system.
