That's awesome! I wouldn't want to see how compressed that spring must have been 😅 Glad to hear you got it done 👍 Hope the episode helped a little.

Hi. Why won't universal/aftermarket clamp type spring compressors work with the W204? Thanks.

The biggest issue with the "standard" style spring conpressor is they clamp on the out side of the coil spring. On majority of Mercedes you do not have enough room around the coil spring to get both clamps evenly spaced and tightened down.
As you probably saw in the episode the Mercedes specific tool goes through the inside of the coil spring illuminating the clearance issues and is a much safer design.
You can normally pick up this tool fairly inexpensive on amazon/ebay and I do have a link in the description if you would like to check out the ine used in the episode.

That clamp on compressor would still do the job right? Mine is broken and its sitting in an weird angle , so the Mercedes compressor wouldn’t work i think since that thing supposed to go through the middle

Also did you had to change any other parts like insulators on both ends or some small parts? It’s just the coil ? Trying to ordee the part

In a case like that you may be able to use the clamp style to help remove but will need this style to install the new one. Depending how much of the spring is broke when you lower the suspension you may be able to remove by hand.
The insulators should be changed on both ends. In my situation I was in a pinch and forgot to order them. I needed the vehicle back on the road and installed with out. (Original ones were basically gone) I would recomened to order new for both sides.
If you have any other questions be sure to reach out. I will try to help anyway I can. Hope this helps and please consider subscribing and leaving a like if you have not already 🙏

The amount of filing and knowledge to get that right with regard to the pin, is likely beyond most folks. In the end a mechanic is your best bet. It certainly isn't as easy as it looks.
