That's a great point I never had to chance to full test performance handling or pushing the car in this episode. They are significantly heavier then Tesla for example so I'm sure performance handling would suffer quite a bit and straight line speed. But for daily driving for most people would never notice the difference. I hope to get my hands on a polestar to properly do some road testing and have more seat time in one to be able to discover any potential downsides like you mentioned! That is certainly no silly question! In today's vehicles it can be difficult to know what type you may have. If your battery is easily accessible it should say on the side and top of the battery. Either AGM / lead acid/ lithium. If the battery is not easily visible another option if you know the battery is original or was replaced with original you could search your make and model on Google or give the dealership a call to find out what kind of battery was factory equiped. Most newer vehicles are running an AGM battery due to the higher volume of electronics but is always better to know for sure to not cause any damage while using the charger. I looked at the battery labels and I am still no wiser. There is nothing on the labels that says what kind of battery it is. If I could send you a pic of the battery woucald you be able to tell? The other question is,. i don't have a socket set so I cannot get down to the nut that holds the battery down - frustrating. Could I charge the battery with this Noco Genius 1 that i bought without taking it out of the car? Is it safe to do so? Would I need to undo the terminals first or can I just clip on the clips somehow? There are a couple of other things that are connected to the battery that I cannot work out how to take of. Its complicated - I would have thought it would have been really simple. Is there somewhere I can send you the picture of the battery and you could advise me?

I appreciate you reaching out with your experience and sorry to hear the issues you are having. I have had good luck with mine over the years but have had many people mention of different issues. Seems to be more people having issues. I would highly suggest reaching out to NOCO support to see what they can do for you and hopefully will be able to replace the unit for anew one if there is a problem with it. Thanks for sharing your experience. How long did you let the charger sit for plugged into the battery? 1amp charger will take over 60 hours to charge a full size 80amp hour battery. It is possible you have a defective unit. I would suggest to reach out to Noco support for a replacement unit if you do believe there are problems. Please keep me posted how it goes! If you can find the replacement parts it should be a very similar process. Mercedes uses the same style design for them. I wish I had access to a CLA I would make a video for you but the way it all clicks into the bumper would be very similar.

You can safely connect the clamps to the battery while it is stil connected to the vehicle. I appreciate you reaching out... I have to admit I am a bit stumped on that one. Did the charger indicator light ever move off flashing red? The only thing I could think is you may have a defective charger / a massive parasitic draw or one o both batteries were shot to begin with.. I am sorry to hear the trouble you had. @@raymondsiu thanks for reaching out, that is a great question! Based off my local Mercedes dealership there was no reset/ or computer relearn needed for the battery replacement. Making it a very DIY friendly job. The new battery has solved many issues the W177 was having as these cars are so delicate when it comes to proper battery voltage. ​@@FullThrottleBHP Merc confirmed this? As if you Battery is low there is a risk your new battery may subsequently overcharge unless you tell the car to refresh the charge value. It could ruin the new battery pretty quickly.

@@mattsmith1051 Yes that is correct on most vehicles. Mercedes dealers local confirmed no Mercedes in my line up AMG W204 R170 SLK X204 and the W177 A class does not require any reset or relearn of the computer charging system. I assume they are correct as I can't see them turning down easy money. As far research as I could find there's no Mercedes ICE that requires any relearn for a standard 12v battery replacement.

That is a great question! What I have been doing for a couple years now is leaveeverything connected and selection correct charge mode for your application. The charger will do the rest of the work for you, with out overcharging worrying a out damageto the battery. It will contoune to monitor and top off when required and shut down once the battery is full. If you have any other questions let me know and I hope you enjoyedthe episode! @@shutinyanks There are no holes in the main diffuser for the "skirt" it's designed like this encase someone does not want to run the extra skirt. Either way you will need to drill holes in the main diffuser to mount. I found it easeir to do it installed on the vehicle to align everything. But could be done with it off of the vehicle as well. Based off a 200ah battery with the noco 5 can expect roughly 80hours to charge from a "dead" battery state. Please consider leaving a thumbs up and subscribing if you have not done so already. What model do you have? It is very possible you would have to remove the entire seat but i know for majority of Mercedes models from this generation has the removal bottom base with out removing the entire seat assembly. - Full Throttle
