Black Beauty's Story

- Black Beauty came to Horse Plus Humane Society through our October Buy-Out program in 2023. The goal of this project is to intercept as many equines as possible from the auction and slaughter pipeline. Luckily, Black Beauty became one of those horses. His handsome physical features suggested Friesian characteristics, however, his DNA test results revealed Akhal-Teke, Caspian, and Lipizzaner in his bloodline. What a rarity!
Black Beauty's Story was only possible due to the support of our generous donors. The role you play is pivotal in rescuing, sheltering, and protecting horses. Remember, horses like Black Beauty get a second chance solely because of compassionate individuals like you. We urgently need your continued support.
We rescue horses of all species, ages, training levels and colors. No animal is ever turned away at our Open Admission Shelter!

Black Beauty truly is one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. And the story about Caspian horses is fascinating! I am so, so glad he was saved, looked after and found a wonderful new home. And a big thank you to his adopter for the generous donation!
He is part Caspian , part Lippizan, and part Akhal Teke, but he looks mostly like an Akhal Teke.
@@cb664 That's what I think too!
Yes Akhal Teke for sure@@cb664
How old is black beauty??

Very appropriate word for Black Beauty: 'dreamy'. All horses deserve a good life, and in the end, all horses go to heaven. 🩷🫏🐎
What a wonderful adopter - a $3000 donation! I hope 'BB' goes on to a great and useful life 😁
Thank you! Its nice to have a beginning, middle and adoption story! Especially on such a BEAUTIFUL horse 🐎 Blessing to his new momma for the huge donation!!!!! 🌟💙🌟
Thank you for this wonderful video. He captured everyone's heart including mine. So nice of the adopter to give an additional donation.
He is such a beautiful horse and I hope the owner will keep us updated with his new life!
I am glad she recognized his true value and rarity and gave a wonderful donation on top of his adoption fee, this woman is old school generous and doesn't take advantage of the situation.
Wow....ein Achal Tekkiner !!! Welch edles Pferd !! Wundervoll und wunderschön ist er.
Mit Vollblutarabern, Vollblut ist der Achal Tekkiner auf einer gleichen Linie. ❤❤
What a wonderful women sad how she lost her BB , but the first horse she saw was also named BB .. it was meant to be ❤ , he'll have a beautiful life ❤
He is one gorgeous horse!! Pretty amazing he ended up in the k pipeline! But you saved this gorgeous boy!! And he’s got his forever home too! He’s one lucky boy! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm going to add this to my favourites and watch it again and again. My heart justs lifts when I see this beautiful majestic animal and how gracefully he moves. What a lucky adopter to be able to see him every day.
I'm so happy to hear that Black Beauty has found a great new home. How I wish that we knew his story before he arrived at Horse Plus Humans Society. Such a beautiful horse. 😍😍😍
Please do a follow up storie with him in his new home … he is such a special guy….. actually it would be so i teresting to see more of the horses settled in their new Homes ..
Wonderful video 💕I really enjoy all the videos Horse Plus posts. It is heart warming to see such beautiful souls saved and given a new chance at life. What a fantastic way for the adopter to not only give a loving home to Black Beauty, but to also donate so other fuzzy babies can be saved.
Oh my goodness, Black Beauty is such a handsome boy! Looking at him, I thought that he was a Friesian cross. That’s so interesting how his dna test showed that he is much diffferent! It sounds like he has a lovely home. His new owner is a very lucky!! ❤️
How he ever was sent to auction is so unbelievable.😢 so glad he was saved.🎉
You know the show/YT channel, about wedding dresses, where they ask, "Are you saying Yes To The Dress?" I think at each adoption you should ask, "Are you saying Of Course To The Horse!" "
This is one of the rare horses I truly wish I could have adopted, lol. (would take em all if I could) But this one really touched my heart and stole it then galloped off with it! So happy he has a home and a life! Thank you to the lady who made it happen! And always, thank you to Horse Plus, for being the ones to break the chains of abuse and the pipeline... Looking forward to seeing what else you do in the legal fields this year!
Love this. I am sure he had more adopters then you all knew what to do with. So unique and special:)
Sweet new mom for her next BB!!
Great Great jackpot there!!!
Very generous and kind.
There have been stories of famous bloodlined horses at auctions that have a put a huge smile on my face. Emancipated horses that no one but a rescue would even give a second look to. I do a happy dance when the previous abusive owners realize just how much money they lost on their abuse and stupidity of not knowing the signs of a pedigreed horse! Which is what you get if you don't do a deep dive into any animal you are thinking about purchasing. Now the breed and know the cost of feeding, boarding, and estimated costs (which you can call and get a price for) of vet bills. Most people that get horses have no idea they need farrier, dental work or shots and deworming as a cost. I know because I have seen this way to many time!
What an amazing human she is for the donation. 🙏❤️🥂
What a surprising DNA result! If only he could be cloned! BB seems to be the Perfect Horse! Sooo Gorgeous in body, mind and spirit! 🤠💓💓💓
Not surprising at all!
Wow, He is such a Gorgeous horse, I am so Happy for him and his new home. What a lucky boy. I hope his new Mom sends updated videos of him.
AlKhal Teke is the ancestor to Arabians
Oh my gosh! That was absolutely wonderful for her to donate like that! I am sure it was meant to be after she talked about her other horse being named Black Beauty also! He is going to have a wonderful life!😊❤
So happy he got adopted. However,I will miss seeing him.
Gorgeous, gentle and beautiful boy.. ❤❤❤
And this coming from an Arabian nutter.
God bless you precious boy. ❤💪❤
Black Beauty is a truly magnificent creature. He seems more mythical than real. I'd have loved to be able to put in for adopting him, but alas, my farm and horses are in my past now. I'm happy he's found his forever home with a wonderful adopter. It seemed like fate they should be together.
I often wonder how a Dutch harness horse, like the one I got, that was at, at least 2-3 auctions and was bought by kill buyers, who in our state, give them a week to find a home. She has issues, mostly mental, but I've had worse and weirder.
I'm so glad he has a home and that you got him out.
I helped to rescue horses in a recent auction in Arizona. A horse trader brought in a beautiful gray mare that a younger boy walked into the ring at auction. This horse after rescue and evaluation was an advanced trained horse only 15 yrs old and was most probably Andalusian. She appeared to know either dressage or show type moves. She was under weight but in good health. She was adopted into a good home.
A BIG Thank you to Black Beauty's new Momma. I am a big lover of the Akhal-Teke breed and the only thing about him that didn't fit with breed type was the very full main and tail. If anyone doubts that he is part Akhal-Teke they need to look at the horses offered by any of the breeders in France, Russia or Kazakhstan.
Yea it was his body type that had me thinking he had limited Friesian in him. His body stand and confirmation screams Akhal or Marwari
Yes, that's what confused me. He has an Akhal-Teke body type, but a LOT of hair!
I would love to know his backstory.... So fascinating that a horse of the beauty and pedigree would end up at a rescue
You would be surprised how many beautiful horses end up at auctions, especially when a person passes and families don’t want them.

Wow, awesome generous donation.
I’m glad he found a good home. He is a beautiful horse.
Wow what a great adopter. Black Beauty is one of a kind. So glad he ended up in your hands at HPHS.
I am so glad he found a home . Beautiful horse
Solid move, Black Beauty's new mom! ✨✨✨
That’s a amazing donation ❤
Black Beauty's ears are unusual, and I believe the Akhal Teke has ears of similar shape. Always happy to see the horses adopted.
He is a STUNNING fella.
So beautiful ! Thank you for doing what you do. There are absolutely wonderful horses that end up at the auction for one reason or another. I know because that's how I got my horse. Thirteen years together and still having a blast riding her. So glad she was saved from slaughter, I'm afraid most of the herd ended up there
Black beauty was my favorite book as a horse crazy little girl. Ive been around horse's my whole life. And have owned my own. But hes truly a gorgeous horse 🐎 ❤
an amazing horse dreamy and so happy he found you and a new life head
Exquisite animal
So schön, das der schwarze Schöne🐎🐴 einen Platz für immer gefunden hat mit einer ganz tollen Besitzerin. ❤ der wird bestimmt nach Strich und Faden verwöhnt😊
Black Beauty is absolutely gorgeous!! Definitely would be a dream horse. His gait looks so smooth. Best of luck to Beauty's new home!
And he is worth every penny and more of the extra donation she kindly gave y’all!!🎉🎉
I think the Buy out Programm is very successful…you intercepted so many Horses even young ones from going Auction to Auction…I know over there are some critical cases that need to get out of the Pipeline and their fate isn’t pleasant…but it is what ist is and you Guys still make such a Big Difference…Thank you to BB new Very Generous Mom…❤
They're all beautiful ❤️ keep up the good work. Be blessed.
Wonderful and so generous, glad that he got such a super home.
Please keep updates on this horse in his new home.
He is truly gorgeous! I can’t help but be jelly I didn’t get him but I’m happy for him and his very LUCKY new owner!
So happy for him🐴❤️
Wonderful news ❤
She got a 20,000 horse for 3,000 !!! Unreal !!! I do t think she realizes just how lucky she is !! I wanted him so badly and look at his ears you can tell he’s an Tekke !!
AKHAL TEKE?!? Are you kidding me? How on earth did a horse of that beautiful bloodline (not to mention Lipizzaner and Caspian) get into that situation?! That is crazy! He HAD to have been brought over from the Middle East/Spain area, or maybe just his um..."makings" were brought over? Either way, what a gorgeous animal! I've loved black horses since reading the book "Black Beauty" as a child! I URGE everyone (especially if you have children) to read this book--fantastic children's book, but great for adults too. Another amazing book is "The Godolphin Arabian" - the story of how the Thoroughbred line came to be!
"makings". 😅
A stunning animal, and he looks like his new owner is going to love him to bits , best outcome ever ❤❤
Black beauties ears were dead giveaway to his pedigree. Look at his ears they’re totally different.
❤such a beauty ❤ all horses are beautiful ❤ All horses are very sensitive ❤ and all deserve to be treated well with Love and Respect ❤🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful donor. Thank you for sharing.🐴
Thank you.
I am so thankful for his new life with this wonderful adopter, what a kind and generous woman.❤
THANK YOU FOR RESCUING 🐴🙏
❤❤
AWESOME
Wonderful story! Amazingly beautiful horse!
I was like 99% sure he would be a friesian cross, but oh man he blows my mind! Hes really a black beauty though. Im glad he got saved!
So beautiful ❤
❤
I thought originally you said he was part Marwari instead of Lippazon? He does almost have the distinctive ears of a Marwari. So generous of his new owner to donate the extra for him. Sounds like a good home. Yes I'm jealous ! Hope we get updates on him. Looks like he could use a few groceries. Curious to know extent of his training and what he will be used for, if anything, other than a pasture buddy
Sooo ein schönes Pferd 😊
What a lovely story, and thank you to his adopter for her wonderful donation! ❤
❤💙💙💙❤💙💙💙
Hopefully his adopters will send some updates :)
I could tell the akhal teke influences because of his ear points.
You must have had a large number of applicants wanting to adopt Black Beauty(?) ❤
I wish I could donate to your wonderful but often heartbreaking situation..but I have an animal care project of my own .funded only by my small SS ...but I wish you much luck. I always try to respond in some way hoping that it helps. Thank you for doing what you do. ♥️♥️
How were yall able to let him go? I mean, he really is dreamy.
I certainly didn't make a fuss about it. But i was one of the people that didn't feel he had much Friesian in him. His general confirmation certainly is explained by the Golden horse. LOL not the colour though ;). What is even nicer to see is he seems to have a really nice personality.
He's beautiful 🤩 even if those DNA test is VERY inaccurate.
My friends Icelandic (that breed was isolated on Iceland about 1000years) came back as 3 different breeds including American miniature 🤪
Such a beautiful horse. What boon and a blessing that you rescued him. I don’t understand though, considering his bloodlines, why you didn’t want him to reproduce. Can you please explain?
This is just my take on why he was gelded. For one it's a safety risk to have a stud horse around A LOT of mares and they might to go all out, possibly hurting themselves or people, in order to breed. The rescue didn't know his DNA when he was gelded and there are far too many animals who are bred because they're pretty. A stunning boy like him ended up in the slaughter line and who knows if those good looks could be reproduced. If not, what happens to any offspring who might not match his visual appeal?
@@sometimessiri.8559he also has crappy confirmation
he's grade and more than likely very poorly bred
Can you share follow up pictures when you get them?
🥰🥰😀😀😀😀😀
A stunning horse, who in their right mind would send such a young and beautiful horse to slaughter. I would like to know how he fell into the wrong hands.
Did you get a lot of applications on him!
I can't believe an Teke horse ended up there
Curious, as I am sure everyone is, just how a horse of that lineage ends up in a buy-out program. Other than needing to be gelded, seemingly nothing going on with his health other then behind in his care a bit. I know the possibilities, his owner got sick or old or passed... but just wish there was some tiny trail to give us a clue. A microchip to the original breeder, word of mouth from the dealer, a fly on the wall. Just like the "real" Black Beauty from the novel, I really want the story from the horse himself!
I would have said teke just from the eye and head and the lean body shape. He's not heavy headed enough for a Friesian even if the color matches lol
My bday is oct 25!!!
I thought Kimberley’s husband was going to adopt black beauty for valentine day
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Mawari Indian Vollblut?
He definitely is too light for Friesian. I think people have ZERO idea that a friesian is basically a coach horse that is quite substantial, but always throughs a straight shoulder.
You can see the lightness about him.
I am sure someone loved him, it's a real shame he ended up where he did, but he sure is gorgeous and so kind looking.
My old FBHS would scold you for using the metal curry directly on a horse, no matter how dirty. Just saying.
He is an Akhal Teke. They are an ancient breed from the middle east...bred as race horses.
@ I know he's part Akhel Teke, you can see it in his top line and his undercarriage.
He has a lip head, which is a baroque breed, but he doesn't have the baroque heft. Caspians are also very light horses.
Not to be unkind but I've ridden lippys, seen caspians inperson and know about AT's. :)
It was a shame that they castrated him because he probably would have been a good breeder as well. But understandable that it was done. It does settle them down, big time
black beauty is a) a grade mutt b) a rescue and they don't know his history c) there's already enough unwanted horses d) has bad confirmation
Clearly arabian blood! Probably friesian??? How??? But hey lets just geld him. Pfffff.
To give him the best chance at adoption and guarantee he isn't taken on by someone just to use him as a stud animal. Of course they have to Geld him. All the animals get de-sexing . Even the valuable ones. I think you will find all the rescues do that.
@@erikacouture I would imagine that is case by case 👍
