I'll break it down for ya..... The lighter shade individuals are The Band. They are awesome. The darker shade ladies and gentleman are The Staples, a Gospel vocal group. Legends. This video is from a film called The Last Waltz directed by Martin Scorsese. The Band decided to break up, but instead of fighting it out in the papers they decided to have one last, big concert and invite every great musician they'd ever played with. So nearly every song is them with someone else equally legendary. It is worth a watch... most definitely. The "bonus" is more footage from the film. - Your GOAT in Thailand.

The Band (the pale people here) started out as a group of studio musicians who played backup for lots of famous people, including the Staples Singers (the guest artists here). They eventually went out as a band on their own and had several famous hits. This is the last concert from their last tour. Thirty some songs in a 5 1/2 hour concert with about 20 different guest artists. The Staples Singers, Bob Dylan, Niel Young , Muddy Waters, Niel Diamond, Ronnie Hawkins, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchel, etc. A movie and an album were made of the concert but the producers didn't like how the original recording of this song went and re-recorded it in the studio later. This was the age of Aquarius the time to let go of the old and grab onto the new. Desegregation and all schools and public institutions. Changes in the way we thought about our government end the war in Vietnam. A time we all started looking more critically add nuclear power and power plants. I am a 60 yr old white guy that has loved the Band and enjoyed the Staples since I was a kid. Watching them on 60s and 70s variety shows. These two belong together, in the tree of music you can trace them back to the same branch. Incredible talent. But let’s concentrate on shit that don’t matter.

That "sister" came from heaven. she is an American treasure to be sure. And part of one of the oldest American family bands recorded (The Staples Singers). That sister is the one and only, FANTASTIC Mavis Staples.

This was a clip from the Movie the Last Waltz. It is an incredible collection of groups singing with The Band on the occasion of their giving up touring. Groups and artists such as Clapton, Dylan, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, Paul Butterfield, Joni Mitchell etc. It's will worth your time to look these up.

@Mr Video I like how you react to rock music and metal music, but I humbly request you react to some of John Lee Hooker ( my favorite singer/songwriter ). He does great collaborations with Van Morrison and Canned Heat including many more but his solo stuff is great. His music is real old school, but for starters I recommend Serves Me Right to Suffer or I'm Bad Like Jesse James.
