Intimidator has a New Name!

- So, as someone who doesn’t usually bring up the latest theme park news, there is a story that broke earlier today that I must talk about! Carowinds announced that their hyper coaster by Bolliger & Mabillard, will be renamed and slightly re-themed to Thunder Striker. Let's say I have a few words to say about this.

Considering they have Copperhead Strike in the same park, that’s my main gripe with the name. I also think depending on whether Kings Dominion does something like Kings Island’s Area 72 returning, Project 305 really does sound like nothing more than a placeholder.
Me personally, I’m still likely to refer to it as Intimidator 305, given its iconic status.
I saw this idea posted elsewhere but I think Carolina Thunder would’ve been perfect. I know the Carolina name is overused in the park already but that just sounds bad ass.
I think the theme of the area and the premise is great, with the homage to thunder road, but the name needs a bit of tlc cuz it just doesn’t flow off the tongue properly, and they definitely could have been more creative with it

If the merger goes through I wouldn’t be surprised if I305 will be renamed to Goliath

@StamfordBridge well its a.play on words with thunder road and a car is often called a lightning rod so thunder striker its a cool name
On one hand, I can see why they did this, but on the other, Thunder Striker sounds like an AI generated roller coaster name.
I keep thinking Yukon Striker at Canada's Wonderland, which I believe is actually a great name in that ride's case
I just wanna say its screwed up because Carowinds is in the same state as Kannapolis Dale Sr.'s home town and now the audience and popularity (from NASCAR fans like me) will have a hatred to this theme.

Yeah, that name is very uninspired, but whatever. Intimidator 305 losing it's name is a bigger hit to me. I am kind of hoping that they end up with New Virginia Giant. I would love to watch the world burn in the comments to that. Or how about Iron Intimidator, or Intimidator 2, or Twisted 305, or best of all, Goliath.

I think thunder sticker is paying homage to thunder road and white lightning two defunct Carowinds coasters.

I'm honestly disappointed. If they had to retheme do to licensing expiring, so be it. Intimidator I feel is still a generic enough name (Dominator) to still retheme while keeping the nane.
Dont forget the latest lackluster coaster name; SFOG's "Georgia Surfer"

Yeah saw they lost that license from Teresa Earnhardt. Kinda sucks but it’s still there at least and you can ride it no matter the name.
And get this, they used AI to write the description for it on the website. Just plug it into an AI checker! 😂

I think it could work on an inverted roller coaster, maybe an intamin blitz or Vekoma launched coaster, something like that
@@XscreamThrills I agree. Additionally the name (and even the logo) reminded me of Lighting Rod and Verbolten. Not saying anything is wrong with it, but Cedar Fair has a knack for horrible renames (aside from Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers since those are completely different rides from their previous). All in all, Thunder Striker just seems, for this coaster/model, lazy and uninspired. I rarely comment on what parks do because at the end of the day it’s just a name, but this ain’t it.
While I have not been to Carowinds, I feel like this name dose not belong in this section of the park.
