Magical album. 🤘
This album, with tuonela, have a special atmosphere. full of nostalgic and deepest feelings, makes me feel a special kind of magic feelings and personal emotions.
I feel the same. It takes me to places that only exist in the deepest corners of my soul if that makes any sense.
arqueologos de la musica God Yes! The feeling brings that old Scorpions back for me. Fly to the rainbow/ in trance years. I don’t know the last five albums but I will listen to them over the next two weeks. Great period for this magic group.

yhea!!..that goods albums are not part of my music collection like others cds,are part of my emotions ,dreams of a period of my life..when i list that albums im feel in other times sure..like a time traveller in my emotions and im feel a nostalgic fear..not with other albums today..
On this one and Tuonela they shifted more towards a great yet very unknown Finnish prog-rock band called Kingston Wall, they were active in the 90´s before their singer/guitarist committed suicide in 1996... the resemblance is very apparent. check them out, absolutely great trio of super talented musicians!

I think Pasi's talent really showed the most on this album.
The talent of this era of the band was and still is their ex-drummer Pekka K. the dude is as precise and heavy as a locomotive, check hes trash stuff with hes first band "Stone"

when you listen to the sounds, guitars effects, mix, the composition of sounds of guitars and keys, it is unbelievable that the album is recorded in 2000! too innovative and underrated album

This was my introduction to Amorphis. Brings back so many good memories. I love current Amorphis but i do miss Pasi also.
Pasi has other material outside of Amorphis if interested. Shape of Despair And Ajattara. Both bands are different genres. Doom metal and black metal. A real talent .
With Pasi there was a soul in their music. Not now, unfortunately. Though Tomi Joutsen is a fantastic signer! It's not about the voice. The era changed. So sad!

Yea this album is what brought me to Amorphis and holds many nostalgic aspects.
Sus primeros tres discos son la raja de la raja! Tuonela y Am Universum son diferentes pero no por eso menos buenos, son excelentes tambien! Aquí viene una de mis canciones favoritas de todos los tiempos: Grieve Stricken Heart. Esa letra y ese saxofón son simplemente algo fuera de este mundo!!! El saxofón en el metal es algo poderoso, mágico y cachondo (el orden de los factores no altera el producto). Prueba fiel de ello: Amorphis, Ihsahn, Pan.Thy.Monium, etc.
Mucho mejor que la mierda comercial que estan sacando en sus ultimos discos

I was in high school when this came out and I remember how much purist whining surrounded this masterpiece. Even if it weren't their best record ever, that alone would make it good.

My fifth favorite album of Amorphis, first fav to me is Tales from the Thousand Lakes, second fav is Karelian Ithsmus, third fav is Elegy, fourth is Tounela. All the first 5 are good albums!

I have to disagree, most fans of the band back in the day panned this, not saying it is not good as it is, but was a big divergence from the heavy roots. Amorphis for us was always Tales from the thousand lakes. This album also holds special memories for me as well

19 years later and still wondering what the image on the albumcover represent.
I think on the left there is a close up of some kind of a plant or a part of a plant. At least that's what was said about it in the biography-book of the band.

Probable in the minority but this is my favorite of their's. Aside from the two tracks right in the middle I never skip anything. This is their peak, although I like all their stuff.

Even if the album is a bit older, in 2021 it can still be heard as fantastic as it was back in the good old Amorphis times. Together with Tuonela two very special albums, which together with Elegy breathe the old Amorphis spirit and also today impressively show that Amorphis were never better than with Pasi ... THAT were and ARE Amorphis !!!!

Just like Katatonia, Paradise Lost and Anathema. They went out to explore from their roots. Not their best but still acceptable. IMHO

despite amorphis do make well produced albums i dislike a lot the musical style they have had choose to go since Elegy album. i´ve stopped to listening to them since elegy work.
you are commenting on an album that has so much based on the sound of Elegy, and almost arm to arm quality. hard for me to understand
