    I really enjoy painting along with you. I feel like I get permission to just sit and play. I’ve also been away from my watercolors for awhile because I’ve been drawn to create in other ways. I learned to spin yarn in 2020 and find it so fulfilling and relaxing. Because of spinning I’ve picked up my knitting needles again and am working with my hand spun yarn.

    Thank you so much for this video; "Es ist mir aus dem Herzen gesprochen!" - your words express my own feelings exactly. Much more often we should allow ourselves to stop fulfilling everyday tasks and instead "just play with color" for an hour or so. Without thinking of any result worth being noticed - just for the fun of watching beautiful colors and moving the brush as we please. We don't always need to be "effective"!

    The problem with those plastic sticks is that we don't know if the ingredients are safe (in order to give them the properties you mentioned) and that they create a lot of plastic waste (just like gelatos, scribble sticks and so forth). This is why I love companies like Sennelier and Caran d'Ache: The waste they leave behind when used up is biodegradable or very well recycleable.

    Hi Irit , I loved this video , soooooo good ( I will watch again for sure ) . You always seem to say something that resonates with me , I’ve had a pretty demanding time for the last 6 weeks, with my brain feeling overwhelmed, painting and being inspired has been impossible, but , exactly as you said ,I realised I was being hard on myself for not being creative in the evenings so picked up my coloured pencils and I’ve been colouring ( adult colouring books ) , as time has passed I’ve come to realise the value in this and when I come back to painting I will have more to bring to it . You are so right , it’s all about the creative joy in whatever you’re doing . Sending love from the UK as always ☀️ ( I’ve added those gouache sticks to my wish list on Ali express they look great , thank you for sharing them xx )

    What a lovely video. I too crochet, but have been away from it for quite a while due to a wrist injury. I love watercolor painting and also weaving/knotting bracelets from embroidery floss. Recently I've been incorporating embroidery stitches in my watercolor paintings. I've experimented with stitching both before and after applying the watercolor paint.
    I agree that my creative outlets are mostly processed based, instead of outcome based. Turning on something audio (book, music, podcast, radio, etc) definitely helps me focus on the colors more.
    Hahaha - speaking of that I am making a bracelet rn and had to keep rewinding to see what colors you were talking about. Lol.

Thank you so much for sharing them & for your professionalism with the caveat about the potential artist grade misnomer since is often not all it claims to be and better safe than sorry. I'll be using them in sketchbook or digitized work so it was wonderful to find something new & affordable. I love the marabu art crayons for their relative permanence but they are pricier so I'm excited to see how these feel & perform. Also loved your advice about not giving up. I wonder if you sprayed oil sticks with yacht clear varnish? I just preserved the roses from my mom's funeral and then I wanted to include them in a piece of wall art, it was suggested to me that I use yacht clear varnish spray. Everything looks great, it does have then shine, but I wanted that for this memory. So I just wonder if it would seal the oils and preserve the colour in bright sunlight like the spray does?

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  Před 2 lety

      I've seen others recommend all kinds of varnish sprays, like for acrylic paint for example. I would prefer using something made by an art supplies manufacturer because those tend to fit artists' needs.
