Good overview. At this rate... they take over every single creative/high level job we have within 3 years. UBI is not going to fill in the gaps and this tech is not giving us less work. It is giving us MORE manual labor work plus what ever BS they tack on. I clearly see why the people in Hollywood are striking now. The movie executives are simply going remove the humans from the playing field and dust their hands off and blow our minds with their new AI movies (Which will now cost a few hundred vs' millions) and we will just accept it because, "Wow that was an insidiously mind blowing Ai movie that stared me and my friends!" Maybe start talking about the massive repercussions of this technology? Because this is not just a fad anymore, and will have real repercussions to the entire planet that no one seems to be talking about.
I look forward to the Pika deepdive! I'm pretty fluent in Midjourney but haven't got around to learning the Pika parameters yet.
Putting it all together today! I’m excited to dive into all the little corners of Pika as well!
4:49 nice new update about pika labs, you always give useful news😀😀
Thanks so much! I actually am going to push the Pika deep dive to next week. I want it to be the definitive CZcams guide. I feel like if I shot it today, it would be rushed.
Let it take time but make a video that will helpfull 😀
such a great midjurney tricks, 👍
I really love it! Particularly for going into full experiment mode!
Im so grateful for ya always top notch n bring the best info
Oh bless you. Thank you so much!
It was interesting how the two Al began to compete with each other and where the limit was.
Hey hey. I saw that -stop technique on an MJ Facebook page. I thought I was late to the trend. :)
Great content as always. 👍
So, to be honest, I never know when a technique is "trending" or not. I plan to start doing a little MJ thing every "news" video, just because I miss covering it (when times are slow in MJ land)-- so I guess I'll find out as people yell at me in the comments! "That was SOOOOO last week!!" Haha
Oh, was stoked to shout you out as well!!
@@TheoreticallyMedia thanks for shout, thats the 2nd time in a week where I was watching YT on my big TV and an account I watch actively surprised me by saying my handle. Nothing like being genuinely surprised. So thanks!
Matt Wolfe was the last one :)
This feels like music sampling came out in the 90s with 1024k floppy discs which was at that time wooooow
Ha! I just did a whole video on using AI for sampling. (Wait, were you commenting on that video? I got this on a different one!)
If you are: I totally agree! I remember that era well! The interfaces and UI of those old machines was insanely complex! I still can’t believe we live in this era where all of those editing functions can now be done…on my phone? Insane.
Kids these days will never know the struggle…
Great stuff Tim! I always come here first to see what's happening in the AI gen world. Thanks!
Glad you’ve been liking the new-ish format! Trying to find the balance between “news” and “lesson” deep dives. I think I’m close here!
Love it, man. Short, simple, and to the point with great examples. @@TheoreticallyMedia
they are coming for us video producers 😅 Great video Tim - just shared it with my community 🙏
Oh man, thank you so much!! And haha, yes they are...but can beat them by converting the world to PAL! Their machine brains will fry converting those frames!
It seems like AI-generated cartoons or action comics might be a huge thing we can do today with AI. Let's see more of that.
I do agree. I think the first step is going to be more animation focused. Maybe background elements to live action, but there is still a pretty big uncanny valley to go!
why should we see more of that? because it means you need no talent?
Your video was amazing, so full of information not available elsewhere. Thank you for all your hard work. For me, the biggest question remains: when will producers (and their money) get behind AI and create movies/seres for the general public? AI, now, is where film movies were in the early 1900’s, short, but full of potential.
That’s exactly how i feel. AI films in their current state are like the Lumière brothers in the 1900s. It is very early in the life of this medium.
To the question of producers, really it’ll happen when AI Films can make money, really as simple as that. There are producers out there that are willing to fund, almost in an R&D fashion, or producers that are willing to give filmmakers like Korine money. But in that case, it’s more about supporting his work than it is AI. It’s just that he chooses to play with this tech.
I do think the biggest jumps in AI film tech is going to come from indie filmmakers, not the big studios.
cool Video !🔥
Thank you so much!!
I've been collecting short videos as compilations on my channel. There are some really great ones out there.
There really are! I need to do a roundup video soon!!
@TheoreticallyMedia be careful though, I got a copyright strike for unknowingly putting up a video from another channel. There are apparently people who are taking videos and claiming them as their own, and putting them up on different platforms without giving credit to the original creator.
I gotta horror one on my channel I made.
@@BassmeantProductions yeah when I got to the maggots... I was done... 😂
All the OG's know Harmony from the movie KIDS 😎
I’m Casper, the dopest ghost…
Love that movie. It is funny that in the video, I have a quote from Harmony bitching about the kids today..:
Dash Dash Great Video As Per Usual. I love Harmony, so I can't wait to see what he does.
Awwww, thank you so much! And yup, been a fan since Kids and Gummo. The Spring Breakers pitch was a real treat for me (even though it didn't go anywhere-- and Harmony wasn't involved at all)-- but I did try to sneak in references to those films in. They would have been lost on most, but like a little hidden gem, they were there!
@@TheoreticallyMediaI'm glad he's jumping on the AI tip. So the short with the person on the motorized chair - do you have a link to it or info? I can't find it anywhere and it looks hella interesting to me...
30 years ago I was telling my college buddies that one day we'll resurrect old and passed away actors in new movies long after they're gone. I got a lot of flack at the time. Looks like we're getting very close to that now.
Totally. Hell, even living actors. I watched the latest Indiana Jones movie (against my better judgement) and the whole first 15 minutes is a de-aged Harrison Ford, as I’m sure you heard.
It…kinda works? I mean I didn’t scrutinize it frame by frame, but overall it looks pretty good. Although you’ll just catch some frames here and there that look “off” which causes a weird reset, keeping you from being fully immersed.
But, those little bugs will be squashed in the next few years.
I just really hope we don’t end up with 400 more Digital IJ movies. Just, let the character rest…
@@TheoreticallyMedia unfortunately if the studios got character rights they’ll keep on churning and milking. I’d like to see some new Laurel and Hardy movies (which is what I spoke about way back). That would be a great one to try-very cartoonish anyways.
I feel sorry for all the people taking the submissions for festivals. They'll have their hands full. And unfortunately about 95% of it will be crap. I'm not up to date with what deliverables are needed to properly submit but I assume it will be more strict than previous years.
Hoping, hoping for their sake that you’re right and the submissions will be auto QC’d for spec. They’ll weed about 76% out right there!
Man…those poor souls.
Many scifi publishing houses do not accept new scripts anymore due the flood of ChatGPT generated bulk stories. Same will happen to short film festivals. That said, one should start working on one right now :D
Will never replace cinema
Look at the evolution of image generators in 1 year and then think of what will happen again, in a world where AI investment is skyrocketing and humans are addicted to entertainment
I don’t think it’ll replace it either. Coexist? Maybe. We’ve been saying for years that games are becoming more and more “cinematic” but they haven’t replaced films.
I keep saying it’ll become a new form of entertainment. What form it will take will be seen…I do hope it is something thoughtful and engaging.
It probably won’t, but I’m an optimist!
hmm, my version of MJ doesn't have that text box option in 'vary region'. is this Prof subscription
It should be there for all versions. I did run into an issue early on where I had to close discord and reopen it (needs an update). Try that and let me know how it works!
Correction, it's -fps 24 not --fps 24 for Pika FPS control.
Thanks! I’ll correct that later this week!
i'm an artist so usually I don't like AI. But i'm not one of those people who just hate it irrationally and do use it sometimes for reference but never to post as my work.
That said, i really like your positive attitude and outlook. Great video. Hopefully advancements in this tech can speed things up in animation so that animators aren't so overworked. And writers can use it to generate more ideas which they can polish i suppose, instead of spending countless nights brainstorming for ideas.
I don't think AI will ever come up with a screenplay for a show that is without some weird and out of place anomaly present in multiple places, even if it manages to capture a moving concept as a whole because it simply isn't human. It's always the human innovations behind these ideas that make them matter to other people. It's fun to watch AI gen spongebob and southpark but when the novelty wears off it is nothing compared to the original works.
Hey! First off, thanks so much! As someone who has worked professionally in the art industry (both at the indie and corporate level) I always try to approach AI as a helpful tool, and will always position my videos as such. It isn’t an “easy” button, and still always requires a human touch.
I’m not a big believer in fully AI generated content. I don’t know if you play video games, but the big one that’s out right now is called Starfield. The main part of the game is written/handcrafted and is fairly well praised as engaging and great.
The other half of the game is where you can just fly to ransom planets and a procedural system will “create” a planet for you to explore. Basically, an AI generated planet. That part is getting trashed, mostly because it is empty and lacks any kind of meaningful content.
That, I think, kind of sums up my perspective!
Descongélenme cuando hagan películas con Humphrey Bogart o Lillian Gish versión IA
There's definitely going to be some interesting things being made with AI tools but until they crack storytelling that people can connect with emotionally, studios are gonna have to pay their crew..
Agreed. And that may be a way off. I think we’ll see some pretty interesting stuff coming out of thr indie scene, but it’ll be more on the experimental cinema side of things. Eraserhead 2.0 perhaps?
@@TheoreticallyMedia Heh. The day AI can match the emotional complexity of a Lynch film is the day that I'll wilingly hang it up.
@@iocomposer As a huge Lynch fan (I even loved Twin Peaks 2.0), I totally agree. I do like AI as a tool for creativity and...for lack of a better word, process...but AI will never come up with something as demented as Frank Booth.
Why so dark
Whole video? Or just me?
Seemed pretty normal to me. Not dark at all@@TheoreticallyMedia
considering I'm only the second person to view this video, maybe that was a throw away comment and not real?
@@TheoreticallyMedia just you
its -fps NOT - - dash NOT dash dash
Luv AI, tho been seeing more n more youtube videos which are completely AI.....and straight away its very noticeable the lack of human warm...
Yeah, someone recently asked me “how do you feel when AI takes your job?” (I guess as a “host” in video content, I obviously do a lot of other stuff)- and to be honest: I’m just not worried about it.
AI avatars (like HeyGen) are great for dry and informational videos, but I do think there’s just something that people recognize as “human” when I “um and uhhhh” - I also genuinely laugh a lot on the channel. AI makes some weird mistakes and they’re funny. I like to share those moments of humor with you all- and to be honest: AI avatars laughing? It’s just…off.
Again: I think there’s a place for AI avatars- like, Alexia or Siri, but now a personalized face. But in terms of hosting a show? Eh, I don’t see it for quite awhile.
Wow, I'm going to get lots of responses telling me why I'm wrong, but seeing all this to make movies /images and shorts is depressing. the effort is minimal and will become more minimal as the software gets better. Then anyone will be able to make anything and nothing will stand out.
Nahh people said the exact same thing when film went to digital… literally anyone with an iphone can shoot citizen kane if they wanted to with the editing tools and cgi available today but it simply is not that easy
This is it. I think it’s actually easier to do a movie shot on a phone with a crew, than it is to prompt a movie and do it solo!
@@TheoreticallyMediareally? I’ve seen some people put some in effort into their stories….very few…very, very few, but true nonetheless
You lost me at the ugly face part. I really didn't need to see that.
Which was the ugly face part? Mine? Ha! But seriously, curious, let me know!
At 3:52 in the video. I understand that it is difficult to gather the footage that you no doubt needed for a consistent story in the context of an entirely new method of creating a compelling and interesting story. AI for all the good it is for humanity, and I do believe in terms of the impact it has and will continue to have on almost every aspect of our lives. Whether we like it or not, it is my hope that in the utilization of these powerful tools we do not become trapped in a content arms race where shocking or unexpected imagery becomes normal way of competing in what is already a highly competitive landscape. @@TheoreticallyMedia
