Wow! Miniature 1911’s….I am definitely a fan of that ubiquitous and timeless design. Paul has some of the most high quality precision tools and does some of the most precise work I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing this!
Paul Hamler is an American Treasure. His knowledge and abilities are very unique. To be able to do so many different trades: metalsmithing, jewelry, woodworking, gun smithing, and others is just phenomenal! I wish my son could apprentice with someone like Paul so the knowledge could be passed down to another generation. God bless you guys and thanks for a wonderful video.
I totally agree, a definite treasure with so much to share. Its so sad gentlemen like this are fast becoming the exception rather than the rule. Such a wide array of skills and knowledge amassed over a lifetimes experience. Today most young guys just want to dial it in and push a button, no real craftsmanship compared to these veterans. Theres a place for CNC but there should always be a place for the true craftsman.
Videos like this make me feel like I don't do anything with my time. I loved seeing and hearing about all those goodies and how they worked and were converted or adapted to what he needed!
Keith, Mr. Hamler is an amazing gentleman and a wealth of knowledge gleaned over a lifetime. I shudder when I think of what we will be loosing when men like him are gone. If I had an opportunity to know such a man I would be glued to his hip.
Just about the time you start thinking you know a thing or two about a thing or two, you meet a guy like this. Wow. What a wealth of knowledge and skill.
It is great to see these machines I haven't seen since Machinists School. No digital anything. Led was in it's infancy. You had to think and generally do the math on paper and use pencils. When doing a project we had to submit our math along with the part. I am now retired and pour larger silver pieces. Some copper and a bit of gold refining as well. Stop by for a visit when you have time. This fella is a great machinist that is far beyond his time. A rare fella indeed.
An amazing man with way too much knowledge for a nerd like me! I do not think I have ever seen someone so educated and informed in his many fields...brilliant.

Wow. What an amazingly versatile shop with an equally amazing variety of equipment and processes, not to mention all the knowledge he has amassed and mastered to go with it-!! A rare tour of a very unique shop.
This is a very smart man.. Mr. Haller would be a genius at anything he chose to dedicate his life. His family must be very proud.
Thanks for sharing this most interesting and skilled master craftsmen. Paul is a true artisan in his field of miniture reproduction and tool manufacturing. His skill should be preved and promoted as a true artists of this incredible nation.
I find it inspiring that Paul is obviously skilled in the use of "old school" tools but is also eagerly adopting CNC technology. Add to that his ingenuity in converting tools to exceed their designed functionality and the result is almost magic. What an amazing man!
This has to be my favorite shop tour! Paul is such a humble craftsman! To see him so excited about his profession after all his years devoted to his projects, it's inspirational. Thank you Kieth for exposing his talents, had to be very overpowering to you too. I can hardly wait for your next video.

Absolutely incredible! Is this what Paul has done for a living? Or was this a hobby that went totally out of control? That is tool junky heaven. What a craftsman and he seems like a real Southern Gentleman too.
this was a mind blowing shop tour. the combination of old world craftsmanship and modern computer tech is something seldom seen. today. my fear is that the master craftsman of today are a dying breed. we need to find some young guns whose skills we can showcase. i have a 2000 sq st wood and metal workshop under my house. and in 27 yrs i have not had one young person stop by and ask "hey mister what are you doing".

My pharmacist, one of the few independents still left in Vancouver, made the comment that not even once has a pharmacy student ever knocked on his door to ask if there is a summer internship position.He is in his early fifties,and the students seem to think employers should chase them.A job,much less a career,is not a gift.You have to chase what you want.Pretty much the same applies to any occupation.

Back in the 1970's I can remember being told after I graduated from High School to get a job and GET OUT! I should say a better job because I have been working since I was 12, first selling flower seeds door to door then News Papers. It's now illegal to go Door to Door in my state.
Is there a makerspace close by? I'd go visit and see if there was anyone interested. They're out there. You just might have to invite them over.
Larry if you lived near me and I knew about it I would be over there bothering you all the time :) Although I'm not so young anymore.

Have to say - I doubt I could get even close to the precision seen in these miniatures. The cutter grinder is highly desirable.
There is just too much to describe all the gear - a feast of equipment.
How does Paul find time to eat and sleep!

Keith always enjoy the videos but this one was just wonderful! The craftsmanship and skill set Mr. Hamler possesses are second to none. What a true craftsmen he is!
Very informative and enjoyable tour. I am amazed at how much Paul knows and what he can do.
You must be kidding!!! You've got this genius fellow who makes super small tools, weapons, etc... and the camera man stands across the room, (it seems), and aims the camera at the guy holding this invisible tool or whatever in his hand and starts explaining what it is, what it does, etc.... but since it is TOO SMALL FOR US TO EVEN START TO SEE IT(!!!!!), the whole thing is lost to us. It's nice to see the huge tools he uses to make this tiny creations, but, gee would it ever be so fantastic to actually see what the creation is!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, Hamler is so fantastic... he should be considered a national treasure.
If the camera man is the same one who does Rucker's videos...and that is well done... why the heck did he leave us blind for this one???!!! Thank you for letting me vent.

I'm positive they do so just to get people who do appreciate and at least semi understand the craftsmanship and knowledge of a man like Paul pissed off. You see the same on every top quality YT channel. Must be tough going through life with such a negative attitude like that. There has to be a very good reason for me to hit that dislike button and I've never done so on any of the machining channels. But I always say why when I do.

Wow, what a Machinery paradise. Wish i had 1/10 of what he has. Did a centrifugal casting with Silver once. Understand him preferring the vacuum method. Never heard of that btw. Lots of beauties in his shop. Congrats !

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keith as this fellow does small stuff, I'd LOVE to live closer to actually both of you as I like the BIG stuff, but my thing is the even smaller stuff then this fellow does! I actually scale down to 1/87:1!!!! OR 3.5MM to the scale foot! But these small tools are just right up my alley and gives me ideas for more tools for my own little shop! 😁

Great tour. I have one of the Barnes lathes, but it isn't treadle powered anymore. I don't use it much anymore after I got the Atlas lathes.
