I am a red blooded patriotic American. Inspite of all the problems that plauge America at present time. I still love my country. I served in the US Navy and I served in the US Army Reserves. My Navy rate was Mess Mangement Specialist. My Army MOS was 92G ( food sevice specialist ). I also went through and passed a 3 week 11B ( Infantry ) Q course in Oahu. My experience as a military cook was the most rewarding and gratifying feeling for me while serving in the military. The old saying about moral in the military is TRUE!!! Food is a BIG MORAL BOOSTER in the military. Service members feel alot better about themselves and the mission after eating a nice decent delicious meal; ( breakfast, lunch or dinner ). Military cooks are able to provide this comfort to our military servicmen and women. Its really a gratifying feeling to have such a job in our Armed Forces. Salute to all of our military service members and Salute to all military cooks.

Nothing juices up morale and tired soldiers like a hot meal. When they come back in beat and tired, starving and sore, a hot satisfying meal can get their spirits and physical strength back.
Having a hot meal from a field kitchen tells the soldier in combat his rear li es are secure and front is stable for the field kitchen to set up. He feels confident that his unit will prevail. A big slab or meat and taters and fixins just jumpstarts everyone.

why do you navy guys act like you actually cook when ANYBODY who was in the navy knows it all comes out of cans - these videos are such bullshit

What years did you serve in?
As an aspiring military cook, I don’t know if I should become a navy VS of a 92g. From your personal experience, which one would you say is better?

Don’t fool yourself, this is not how our military is fed. This is a video made by the military to make you THINK our men and women are taken care of.

My first enlistment in the USAF was when they still had KP. I worked in the chow hall in basic training and saw how things were done. When I got to my permanent base the chow halls were still military and the food was great. My favorite was SOS with a tall COLD glass of milk. The civilian transfer was done after I was on separate rations and didn't eat on base much but the times I did the food was also very good. I still make SOS at home and my grand kids love it.

That’s a Hell of a lot better food than we had, back in the middle 1960’s. And, we ate 3 squares a day. If we missed chow time, we didn’t eat, unless we went into town.

The problem with the food is that much of it is ultra processed, too high in carbs, sugar TOXIC seed oils and who knows what else. YUK! Hated eating that stuff when I was in the USAF. Always sort of felt bad for the young single airmen living in the dorms and eating with a meal card.
