- In this video I fish some local canal systems on the Gold Coast, Australia using the MMD Splash Prawn 95mm where I catch a variety of fish, including Mangrove Jack and Giant Trevally, over a week.

If anyone is interested, my impeccable GeoGuessr knowledge has led me to conclude that the first spot is just north of super Amart in Helensvale looking south from the rock walls
Thanks
Awesome vid brother, so fun to watch just simple lure fishing along the Gold Coast, keep it up❤️❤️
Thanks my man, bloody appreciate it 😁❤️
The sound of that first hit!!! hugeeeee. Mad video!!
How goods the boof 🤤 hahaha cheers mate !
Love your philosophy on just getting out there bro. 100%. Who cares about the weather, just go flick a few. Just being out there makes it all worthwhile.
Thanks mate, spot on 👌🏼😁
Great video man, I look forward to watching more. We spent the 90s doing long sessions paddling a canoe from mermaid Waters to Cascade gardens, awesome times.. the bait and Trev's under the Markeri st bridges were so much fun to get amongst
Thanks mate 😁 haha how good, that sounds epic !
Another awesome vid mate! Definitely my favorite all round lure
Cheers Obe, appreciate the kind words! Think it’s fast becoming one of my favs too, catches everything 🤯
Great one . Keep up the good work. 👍
Truly a deadly lure. Getting a few for my tackle box. Maybe a few Sugapens as well. Awesome video mate!
Some Awsome fishing 🎣 man
Hey Hayden, ace video. Thanks! I'm coming to the Gold Coast for the second time in January 2024 from the UK. Over here I spin for trout, pike, perch and sea bass 🤙 Any tips for a tourist on fishing the canals in summer? 😁 Thanks man, keep the videos coming
OMG that's incredible, nice fight dude
Cheers mate ! 😁
Mate that first part of the video on that top water bust up that was the most satisfying thing. This video has really made me wanna use top water again and btw where is this canal
That first spot is such a good spot. I got completely smashed up there by a giant herring a few months ago.
Yeah wow! I’ve been fishing it for years and have found it’s quite temperamental but still find myself being surprised by some of the fish around there, cheers Andy
Great video mate, is that the Cooked King colour in the splash prawn?
Bull sharks are everywhere in those inlets I can't believe how people swim on those canals. I did when on holidays with my family when young as well. Not having any clue how invested with bull sharks they really are. Great work getting that fish out.
They sure are, you wouldn’t catch me swimming in them that’s for sure! Cheers 😁
I swim in the canals all the time so far so good, but yeah its definitely nerve racking to say the least.
Where abouts in GC is that?
Nice video. Not into this type of fishing but u got me interested.
Hey mate how’s the fishing been going ? You planing to put out any more videos It would be good to see some more ✌️
Great Vid mate , cant wait to grab a splash prawn - this one used as is or did you change the trebles ??? PS keep up the good work !!!
Cheers mate appreciate it 😁 ! The splashy is awesome, and in this case used straight out the box 💪

Hey mate where was the first clip taken?
Hey mate what gear do you use ? Rod, reel and line
Hey man, where abouts in the gold coast is this?
what spot is the first spot?
You may have told us... I can’t find it, but did not look that hard 🤣, what rod is that? Nice action. I am using a TD Zero at the moment and don’t love it.Thanks for another great video, it’s a lot of time on the water and it is appreciated 👍
Hahahaha yeah I think someone asked on an older video in the comments 🤔 but it’s a atomic arrowz 7’ estuary rod rated 6-12lb, absolutely love it 👌🏼👌🏼 and cheers mate definitely takes some time, really appreciate it😁
@@haydenskiller6438 thank you so much, I will check them out.
@@baztdhlee2406 Hey mate what td zero you using

Or where is the second spot
Awesomw! is it catch and release in all canals?
Thanks ! No you can keep fish from canals, but catch and release is widely practiced and encouraged 👌🏼
these fish looks so strange , is this spot fresh water or salty water
That 1st top water hit! 👊 those lures are gold man caught 2 50cm jacks on them there epic! 🤙
How good! Hell yeah mate, I can’t wait to get stuck into some red dogs with this thing hey 👌🏼
@@haydenskiller6438 next size up is the go!! 😉
@@joeljohnson3351 yeah, this is actually the 95mm! Hopefully I can nail a few brutes with it next season ;)
Where about in GC?
hey mate, would you be able to tell me where you caught the GT. I have all ways wanted catch GT. you don't have to tell me were you caught the GT but can you teel me what suburb you caught. Thanks for taking the time to read this hope you can give me a hit. Thanks Ryan
17:34 where is this spot?
Hey mate what is the rod and reel combo you used cheers and did you have 10lb Braid?
Hey mate, it’s an atomic arrowz 7’ estuary rod rated 6-12lb pared with a 2500 shimano stradic ci4+ and 10lb braid 👌🏼👌🏼
I've got a few of the lures in my box not even used them yet, are you north goldcoast or south.
Definitely gotta get on the splashy bandwagon mate they’re killer - I’m based out of the northern Gold Coast but fish all over👌🏼
What time and where was this filmed? Always wanted to catch a fish on surface .
Near amart furniture helnsvale in the canal
@@nrska3305 yea I know now
Oi can you sort out your reel. Sounds like you gave it an exfoliating mudbath.
Bruh 😆 don’t even get me started, I got this line roller replaced less than 12 months ago 🤦🏼♂️
@@haydenskiller6438 mine has just gone after a year 😬
@@zanem1537 yeah painful hey, probably the only bad thing about the stradics 👎🏼
Ive made all those exact same excuses bruv mean while had my gear out waiting to clean & oil. Robs are usually in the car ready to go after work..not even going that
Yeah mate it’s definitely an easy trap to fall into, I’m glad someone relates haha …but at the end of the day if you’re not on the water, you’re simply not catching fish 👌🏼
Exactly.✌
Great idea mate. If you dont atleast spend a few hrs getting to know how certain fakeys swim, perform & what there designed to do also make them look as real as possible then you'll never work out hardbody & plastic fishing & get frustrated with it. Ive found even not getting on the water enough Ive got to remember most of it again..bugga
100% mate, it’s all one big learning process but the real key is to stay persistent! Time, effort and understanding are the real catalysts to catching that dream fish, tight lines my man 👌🏼
🤙🏼
How heavy is leader and braid your running?
Hey mate, running 10lb braid 12lb leader 👌🏼
Hey man, loved the video its hard to find some really good quality local fishing content. I fish the gold coast quite often cant really seem to catch much either than bream and i caught a massive mangrove jack on freshwater eel tryna catch a shark. Could you point me to some spots, I just bought this lure where are some good spots to go, i want to try catch my first trevally and hopefully some more mangrove jacks.
Hey mate, appreciate it ! Bet you were stoked with that jack ! The Goldy can be quite temperamental and really that’s the reality of fishing it, I’ve found it’s more about putting in the time and effort on the water and learning which spots to fish and when, over knowing the ‘best spot’. But if I were to give you a general pointer I’d suggest taking your splashy down to your local rock wall (there’s loads of em but they all fish really similarly) and work the edges when there’s a bit of current pushing along it and keep your eye out for feeding fish too 👍🏼
What lure you using bro?!
The MMD Splash Prawn bro 👌🏼
How big was the splashie
95mm 😁👍🏼
What size splash prawn were u using??
90mm mate 👌🏼
@@haydenskiller6438 does size matter ? I just picked up the 70mm in the same color as you? Will the small size not have as big of a effect or will it be good?
@@coopercaltabiano7474 not a whole lot, you’re really just missing out on the greater casting distance and a bigger presence/profile, both sizes slay!
Omg
KastKing reel?
Nah mate, 2500 Shimano Stradic Ci4+
If you’re line’s not in the water you want catch fish simple as that
To true mate 👌🏼
More vids soon ?
Hopefully in the near future mate 😁 unfortunately hasn’t been on the list of priorities as of late ☹️
4.25 bust up behind him
Where is that spot where u caught that jack
fuark i should get a mmd hahah
Bro they definitely slay 😆👌🏼
@@haydenskiller6438 just bought one today yew
@@paullee4961 yesss let us know how you go ;)
Quality fucking content man. I’ve just started posting some things...go have a suss!
Cheers bro appreciate it 🤙🏼 love how you use the yak to get to those gnarly spots, some good footage mate keep it up 🔥
@@haydenskiller6438 absolute legend man, thank you for that 🙏🏼 tell you what though sometimes boats come through at like 20 knots and the wake from them going by for yak is mental 😂
@@dillantraykofish as a fellow yak fisherman I completely understand 😂😂👌🏼
@@haydenskiller6438 some days you might catch me screaming “it’s 6 knots here you idiot” depends how bad the fishing is 😂
