Personally, I think he would look great with a buzz cut as well as a cleaner beard. He’s got nice facial structure and would definitely rock it.
Agree 😊
Yes. That beard is too long and gross. Cut good tho.
👍👍
A gust of wind will be this guys worst enemy
That’s what I was thinking … but I wonder since it’s so front heavy I wonder how much wind will it take to reveal his hairline 🤔
The thought of it is just hilarious
Spends half an hour getting ready sorting his hair out just to step out the house and a gust of wind ruin it 😂
Think he'll have to use lots of spray and keep it and a brush handy.
😂😂😂 I was just thinking the same thing
@@zroh_inmaybe he think he needs only enough hairsprays😂
Can't blame Dan for this one as the client was adamant on having a combover .... it looks decent but you can see Dan was reluctant to go with this ....
Problem with comb over becomes obvious on a windy day.
I agree, this guy should've gotten a crop cut. He's only 28 would've looked better on him,Imo
He was still in the stage of denial inside but I'm sure that evolved to anger when he walked outside and the wind ruffled his feathers. @@edeeschmidt5437
A comb-over is undeniable!!!
Only 28?? Thought he was 40@@Big_boom90
I think a shaved head and a sharp beard trim would have looked great on this guy!
My son has, he’s not bald but loves the look, with an awesome beard 😊
He doesn't apparently.
He appears to have the right head shape to pull off the bald look. And I don't say that lightly. Most guys don't have the head shape to pull off being bald.
@@wheniztheend Eventually he will. He just isn't ready yet!
Dan, you're a miracle worker. 🤯 Even though the client's request clashed with your professional opinion/advice, you still respected his wishes and pulled off the desired result - to a high standard, I must add.
"Feels thin at the minute because obviously it was washed this mornin'" - poor guy, it's almost painful to listen to.
And when he said he had a perfect hairline 7 years ago I was very skeptical
I felt the same.
Also difficult to listen to:
Dan: did you conduct any research or take any medication for your hair loss 4 years ago?
Comb-over guy: no, I did nothing but pull my hair back for 4 years.
Great!
Feels thin because it’s thin my man.
@@isabellewhite3505 is medication worth it?
Best thing to do is just except it and go get a hair transplant or shave it off.
poor fella is in a lot of denial over his hair loss. "7 years ago i had a lot more hair"...well....yeah, that's how it works.
Exactly. Won't accept it's genetics and seems to think now his hair isn't back the hair loss will stop.
Kojakified?
You could actually understand what he said?
I just shave my head now, here's a good channel for people worrying about hair loss czcams.com/video/YtsvGldUMl8/video.htmlsi=olU1Ri_7nYIl3U18
He was still in the stage of denial inside but I'm sure that evolved to anger when he walked outside and the wind ruffled his feathers.
From a woman’s point of view, a short haircut would be far better than a comb-over because it exudes confidence which is an attractive quality.
Yeah, it's always sad to see the insecurities about hair loss; the men who accept it, lean in to it, rock it with confidence, are way sexier than those who try to cover it up. Bless. This guy is unfortunately in denial, though.
🦘❤️❤️❤️
Sometimes one’s happiness is more important than attracting people.
He has a woman already. Why would he care about being attractive to the likes of yourself Sakya?
From a bad ass guy to justin biber.
Yikes. Not sure I’ve seen Dan ever battle this hard and lose. Valiant effort, man. TBH, this is probably a great video for guys in similar situations to see. Letting go can be hard, but watching someone refuse to let go is so much more obvious to recognize…this one will still help a lot of men. Keep up the amazing work, Dan 🙌
Aw you were so patient and kind with him! He wasn’t quite ready to let go, fair enough. He’ll be back to go shorter 😉 but he looks great!
A gust of wind and it’s game over
Dan’s ability to counsel hairstyles is next level. He gave him his honest opinion without compelling client to accept.
Dan is caught between a rock and a hard place!
Should be the title of the video XD
No... Dan is between a rock and a bald place. I say this man should look into hair transplants. There's nothing wrong with getting that procedure.
@@TheAmazingHumanI just did one last week and it looks so good already
It's quite sad to see insecurities around hair loss, especially when they're in denial. It was obvious you were reluctant to give him basically a "comb over," but you did such a great job speaking gently with him. 💓
You achieved a decent cut with what you had to work with but wish he'd had the beard tidied too
I feel for this gentleman. I'm female and lost almost all my hair 33 yrs ago. I finally shaved it off and I'm happier. Trying to make it look like more hair was a lot of stress and hairspray 🤔💎😇 good luck.
queen.
Oh for sure!
He looks much better walking out that when he walked in. A difficult hairstyle to maintain I'm sure, but like the client said he wants to give it a go first and if said he'd go shorter afterwards if he has to.
lets hope it wasn't a windy day
Dude he absolutely did NOT look better walking out of there! XD
@doktorfellatio438 he Most Definitely looked wayyyy better going out then in!!!! I'm shocked by your comment..no comparison...Dan did an excellent job with figuring that out
@@debbyshark1596 n I'm shook with your awful taste. Don't get me wrong tho I ain't faulting Dan on this one I been watching his channel for years.
@@doktorfellatio438 He looked HAPPIER walking out and that's the main thing. If it doesn't work for him I'm sure he'll try the meds or going for something shorter.
Dan said, “The haircut looks completely different”. Good choice of words!
Did this client seriously believe that his hair looks like this because he grew it long and pushed it back?? Seems like he didn't think his genetics played a role...
Yea you could tell Dan wasn't going to fight it. Honestly I think he could rock a bald head well with that beard.
Your hair will recede if you keep tying your hair too tight for a long time. It's called "traction alopecia"
@@Noobatsecs69 That's usually for dreadlocks or braids, though. You very rarely if ever see it with women that have straight hair tied back.
@@Noobatsecs69you can lose a bit. But that recession is genetic
it is fairly common on women with tight high ponytails, see jojo siwa. but this guy clearly has male pattern baldness.@@JC-1405
As a barber myself these types of consultations are the hardest especially when the problem has been neglected. Slicking hair back has no effect on hair loss and if that were the case then most women would suffer hair loss. Hair loss purely depends on genetics and in some cases lifestyle choices. At the end of the day prevention is much better than the cure.
I spat out my tea when he said he's only 28!
Some guys are sadly losing their hair in their early teens.
He's trying to make excuses for losing his hair! The best thing is for him to just accept it.
No, he can get on a minoxidil/finesteride Rx and grow that front back and also keep the back. The back will go later but if he starts early he can tackle this issue.
@@jefffrazier8961he isn’t going to grow that front back there’s far to much loss there, if he’d wanted to maintain any reminiscence of a fringe he should have jumped on fin and minox 5 years ago, only a hair transplant is really going to make any impact on that now. Ive been on fin and minox since 2013, it works wonders at stopping loss and regrowing weak follicles but you cant grow back whats already gone.
@@jefffrazier8961there’s no chance he’s growing that front back with just fin and minox theres far too much loss there.
@@jefffrazier8961he should have got on fin and minox 5 years ago
And/or .... take the medication
To do nothing & wear a cap is inexcusable
As one gets older, its important to learn self-acceptance. Things fall apart, and thats okay.
Dan's professionalism knows no bounds! most stylish looking combover i've ever seen. He's really struggling with his self image more than his actual image, because i think he doesn't look bad at all with the recession, and believe me i have it too and it's a hard look to pull off lol, but he actually does. He could have a sophisticated short style to make him look handsome while embracing his current hairline. I see it, i'm sure Dan sees it, but he doesn't, hopefully he eventually will see it.
Well said.
Well said, I didn't think client looked bad with his hair back, considerably reduce beard. Aedin
Chop the beard if you’re really going for 20 again
Ya it's gotta come way down lol. If he has that at 20 he would have been growing it since 12 😂
Given some of the limitations, imo this style and haircut looks great. He definitely walked out feeling happy with the overall outcome. Great job Dan as always.
Mans going to need some industrial strength hair spray to keep that in place.
Is this guy going to be able to style this everyday? What about wind and rain? Just needed a buzz cut that would go with tattoos and beard.
I thought about the wind, but not the rain. That will be KILLER! YIKES!
What a good job. You accomplished what he hoped could happen. Not easy.
I can feel Dans doubts and worry as this man wants this kind of cut no matter what the professional's opinion is
The left side is going to fall down constantly revealing the comb over. Think about embracing a short hair cut all over.
i think the long hair hid it also it brought attention to his long hair then his hairline and the beard also helped bring away attention from it aswell
I had a friend who never ever went out, or had people over, without having either a wig on, or a hat. He had begun balding in his early 20's. When he had been a child, his dad had ruffled his hair, which he hated. He was also in theatre, so he was used to the idea of disguise.
I love watching you accomodate these men’s needs with balding. So many men have so many insecurities with balding. There’s ways to manipulate the hair ect ! Kuddos
Good Lord! But if he's happy with the outcome, then so be it.
This has become my favorite series, Dan has magician hands!
This gentleman finally seems to have his hair and confidence back.
Super great job, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍🤩🙏
He could really rock the bald‘n‘beard look like Ragnar Lothbrok. Or a 1mm buzzcut
I feel this guy would be better off embracing that he is going bald, he will deffo struggle to cover up his scalp when he styles that himself, plus he has a beard so he would still have somewhat of a hairy look
I mean, from what I could tell, he's got a good head shape, really good head shape for being bald/very short hair, not everyone does.
I'd be fucked if I have to shave my head bc mine's really round, but shaped funny at the temples, I absolutely would not suit a shaved head, but I think he'd look great with a shaved head, solid head shape for it
He can grow his beard really long and comb it over his head 😄
He needs to have a transplant, that’s the only way he’s going to get the look he wants.
I love how each client is handled with such care and consideration. Great cut and is what the client wanted. At the end of the day, it’s what the client wants and feels most comfortable with. In these cases, I would too be curious to see what an alternative cut would be
You did a fantastic job and treated this gent so kindly. Of course he wanted a lot of hair at the front, who wouldn’t and we should all understand how hair and especially the loss of it is so emotive. Let’s hope he puts the work in every morning and looks this great every day. Well done for making him so happy and giving him confidence 👏
Woa, what a challenge for Dan! So well done - I'm sure he was kind of cringing inside, because a "comb over" is exactly what he's been saying time and again that it's NOT the way to "coverup" hair loss - and he's proved it before. But ... the customer gets what he wants and he needs to feel comfortable with a new hair style. And he seemed quite happy and looked astonishingly good with the end result. I'd venture that he will either get tired of having to style and spray his front hair into place every day and either go back to wearing a cap or just buzz it all off. Personally, I don't like that "wild man" beard at all and I think he's a good enough looking man that he doesn't have to hide behind all that stuff. But that's between him and his lady to figure out 😉
Anyways - great job, Dan!
This was such a good episode, I really was invested seeing how Dan had to work outside of his comfort zone and had to adapt to the client's preferences. The whole way through I did not know what to expect or if it would work, but I am quite surprised with the end result. It actually works and does make him look much younger. It looks good with some effort styling, the only problem I feel will come with replicating the styling every day and unfortunately a windy day could mess up the style.
I mostly agree. The problem I foresee is that the patient will continue to lose more hair. If he jumped onto finasteride and minoxidil and continued to get regular haircuts, I’m sure he would be fine, but I have a feeling that that won’t be the case.this Haircut works for a little while, but if you don’t stay on top of regular trims, it will lose it shape and it’s ability to create this illusion
Ok-ish but despite all the time and skill - its a comb-over
Omg ! A comb-over 🇦🇺 I had to same look ..shaved it all off ! now I can swim ..walk in the wind with out a hat on.. embrace the razor ..🪒
Hmmm 🤔. Having such a Long beard just emphasizes the receding hairline. A better option would be to cut the top and sides shorter to blend in with the textured back. And, cut off the overlong Viking beard, or at least cut it much shorted and neater. Makes for better symmetry... less opposing sight lines. IMO. As usual, Dan did a fantastic job with what he had to work with. 👍
I lost my battle at 23, sad life we live but it is what it is. Bald 4 life
Poor guy thinks he’s losing his hair because he’s had his hair tied back for years.. . He’s definitely losing his hair due to genetics (male baldness) he should get on medication ASAP and go for a hair transplant. He’s actually a great candidate.
yeah
He needs fin, min and a trip to turkey 😅
I would just buzz it save the trouble
@@AnonymousSuperTuber 💯
plenty of good beard hair that can be used, too
Nothing like being in denial
Dude wanted to look 14 again. Never get bangs for a receding hairline those things will be so whispy. I learned after a long time of dealing with one that just rocking it looks better than intentionally hiding it. Somehow it always looks obvious n bad. Youll feel better once you stop caring to hide it. Scott weiland, sting n daniel day lewis for example all look great with their hairlines!
Shorter hair looks far better with a reseeding hairline. Helps to balance it out.
@@AndiGomez-yu2dx agreed but for me I look best keeping it around medium length. Having facial hair really helps the balance a bad hairline.

Looks great, only problem is the elements. A gust of wind will split that fringe and ruin your whole day leaving you concerned that people think you're trying to hide your hairline. Owning the recession or shorter hairstyles is unfortunately the best choice for improved confidence. No amount of hairspray or fibres will conceal it. All the best
Dan is the consummate professional. He did what is client asked for in a non-judgmental manner after he turned down all of the suggestions that Dan offered. If anyone can make a combover look as good as possible, it would be Dan! I hope that after this intermediate step of shorter hair, the client will be able to come to terms with his hair loss and agree to a hairstyle that would be much more becoming.
Great cut. Does what the dude wanted to hide his hairline.
Good luck to him
A very respectful consultation by Dan, very conscious of the client’s feelings. I really feel for the client as there is clearly denial about the extent of the loss and what can realistically be achieved by a haircut. The space between Dan’s words shows it isn’t the cut he ideally would have done, and he slightly disowns the combover he has produced. The client will probably realise in time that he is kidding himself and probably go for something shorter and more maintainable. Ultimately the client’s wishes have been respected though
Great job with what you had to work with! Also so very kind and patient. 🌹
Wow, just amazing and great job at being very diplomatic and kind about it.
ma man got that emo look
Because his heart is in Ohio
Strangely enough, this has inspired me a lot. I'm not balding right now, I'm 28 years old and I've always had a thick head of hair but my hairline is asymmetrical. This video has told me if I ever start balding, keep it shorter and either get a hair transplant if I want hair, or just shave it bald because it's better than what this guy has.
I took a picture in 2017 when I was nervous about balding, and thankfully no change what-so-ever has happened yet. I just happen to be one of those people who's hairline isn't straight but also isn't budging, my hairdresser (who is fantastic I go to her every 3 months) helps me maintain mid-length longer hair, similar style to River Phoenix in the 90s. My brother also has long hair similar to this guy in the video, and he hates his hair, wonders why my hair always looks so styled yet his doesn't, I tell him you need a hair stylist, you can't just leave long hair to grow or it all gets weighed down, has no layers and doesn't look good. Then he'll show me Jason Momoa etc and say you need beach waves, all this stuff. I was worried my hair too would get worse, but my hairdresser told me I just have a ''high forehead'' and at first I thought I was being delusional, but after seeing this video, I'm very grateful and can see what being delusional to yourself actually looks like and it's pretty saddening.
My brother who has long hair similar to this and a beard is only 25 and his hair is starting to go like this, he's splitting at the scalp after having long, uncut, middle parted hair for 11 years. I told him it looks as if he has a bald spot, because after 11 years of him telling me how he's ''finally going to cut his hair into a style he wants'' I was realizing the clock is ticking for him. Constantly jokes about ''if I go bald I'll get a hair transplant'' ''but I'm not balding, it's because I brush too hard'' ''The doctor told me I need dandruff shampoo and it'll come back, it's because I've had it long so long'' ''It's because I dyed my hair at 12''.. All these different excuses that I'm realizing is serious denial.
After 11 years of my brother not enjoying having his hair and just leaving it to grow and not taking care of it at all, i can imagine as soon as he starts to get to the stage of being almost fully bald, he'll go to a hairdresser and act exactly like this, he'll want the hair he had at 13 when it had a fringe, but it won't be possible. I notice this alot with long hair guys, they don't care about their hair, leave it to go all long and greasy, don't look after it at all, then when they go bald genetically they blame every other factor under the sun (sometimes including the sun) and then bring in the most ridiculous, impossible hairstyles and think it's achievable. It's just sad to see this video really, but the way Dan handled him so respectfully as well without being too harsh shows how much of a man he is and good at his job. I know if I was balding my hairdresser would tell me early, and I'd try stop it or accept it and get a hairstyle to sit it. This guy will be in severe denial because his whole balding journey was just long, plain hair and now he's got two options.. buzz it (good) or combover, and he'll choose the combover option. The combover option will require serious energy, but the buzz will require less energy than his balding long hair did.
i don’t think that’s the way to go having that of a hair loss but still it looks decent
Great consultation. Good job at working with him on coming up with a solution.
