Timberline Trail is my favorite long run. If you run it stay on the peak side trail options for best views, including the now 'old' Eliot crossing; Eden Park; McNeil point loop which includes a funky, somewhat technical descent (counter-clockwise. Starts just downhill from the shelter); and Paradise Park full trail, which, in September won't have the flowers but has wonderful late afternoon/evening light, assuming a Timberline start. There is a shortcut that eliminates the Bald Mountain loop but if you use it you'll miss the terrific view of Hood as you turn back toward the mountain, shown to good effect by the drone camera. Enjoy!

The paradise loop was amazing in September with all the leaves changing color. Suitable substitute for flowers.
Nice work! just hiked this last week. Definitely didn’t do it in a day though. How on earth did the camera guys keep up with them? Interested in how you filmed it.

I'm waiting for some ultra runner to go and run this whole thing in like 12 hours
A little over 6 hours is the Fastest known time, most do it in 8-12hrs.
I did a Hood360 earlier this summer, with a goal of 10 hours, but it took 13, lol
Was talking to a runner in parking lot last spring, I took the lift up and skinned up to have lunch at crater rock. The guy comes chugging along (running from the parking lot) in his trail runners and short shorts/tank top and sits down to chat/snack for a couple minutes, turns out he was a pro ultra guy from Alaska. No crampons, food, water etc., but he had some snowshoes, I told him he should be careful as it gets steeper/colder. Last time I saw him he was halfway up the hogsback. I headed back down so didn't see him again but would guess he did parking lot to summit and back in a few hours if it wasn't too icy, but it must have been sketchy and icy up top, just a little bit of clouds/weather and he could have been in trouble. Probably enough time to go hit the t trail afterwords.
One of my friends / old coworkers on the mtn ran the timberline trail by herself in about 8hrs it blew us all away.

I don't hike for speed. I hike to slow down, enjoy the nature and wilderness.
Looks like a great adventure for a couple of good hikers. If someone tried to run to the summit and circumnavigate it I think it would match the tone the makers of the video were trying to set. For ultrarunners this is on the smaller side.
Did the Timberline in 70 hours in September✌️I'd do it every weekend if I could.

My husband and I did this trail for our honeymoon, in the very average 3 days/ 2 nights. But we ran into an ultrarunner in the last 5 miles that was going to finish in under 12 hours.

4 days lets one sit down, smoke your pipe, and take in the scenery.

Why is the Hood River on the trail?
Have the bodies of those 2 missing climbers from 2006 been found? It was a 3 man party, where one body was found, but the other 2 were missing.
Where was the closing shot filmed from?
Do you mean over downtown with Mount Hood at the horizon? That would be from somewhere around the International Rose Test Garden.
FYI: This has been done a few times prior to this show by a few different people - here is the fastest time logged. fastestknowntime.com/fkt/stephen-schieberl-mt-hood-circum-summit-or-2017-07-19 Seth Wolpin did this as well a few years back.

Not quite. It was filmed in real time with the guys flying out from Colorado on 6pm flights. They did get back home around midnight on Sunday so technically they could have fit a few more hours in.. but we have to let them sleep sometime before the work week haha.
i wouldnt call Hood that technical. but yea the no falls zones are pretty sketch. Pearly gates with 50 MPH winds and no visibility took a few hours off my life.

Sure. Hundreds of them. Start at Timberline Lodge and hike up (toward the summit) until you have had enough, then turn around.

Depends who you ask. Also, now that the Eliot crossing has been recovered the trail is slightly shorter

12 hrs to summit from the parking lot is a crawling pace. Even the Mazamas are wee bit faster. 8 is typical, fast is 3. I know a few people who have summited/circumnavigated in 24 hrs and without skis for the descent. Outside should do some research before making a show, and stop trying to be so dramatic. Also, maybe use a pic of Hood in the opening shot of a story about Hood, not Rainier.
I noticed the shot of Rainier also. Kind of funny. Whoops, wrong mountain.
ScottYJ most typical hiking/summit times are for the “average person.” So yes, a crawling pace compared to the more athletic type.
@@mickoharevisuals average is 8hrs. Guides won't even take you if you do less than a 1000 vertical feet per hour. 12 is literally crawling up the mountain.

Pretty much lost me with the running shoes going up with Glacier without crampons and I know exactly where you were this is why people die none the less I guess that's a good quote on quote achievement
Worth noting on safety here that they did switch to hard boots and crampons below encountering anything super critical.
These guys work full time jobs and then leave their families on weekends and go off together. Guess how long their marriages are going to last. Unless of course there are men to fill in for them at home when they are away.
