Aamirkhan Pathan dude when someone acts brilliantly that person becomes lost in the scene and nobody notices them. Moeen was 100% authentic. Before going to theatres I saw an article on how well moeen was played. I swear I was looking forward to seeing him. But he blended with the surrounding so good that I forgot to appreciate him while watching!!!! I noticed & appreciated Sid as a newbie but when I saw moeen on screen, I saw only moeen on screen.
Exactly you dint know almost till the end of the movie that you root for someone like Moeen or maybe he will backstab at some stage, it was so beautifully written and a very important character in the movie
She's absolutely right with Vijay Raaz's character. It was very important for him to SEE him on that stage and realize it IS possible. Without this arc the movie would be empty at some level.
It was great to see director's perspective. Normally interviewers stick to stupid questions, this was different. More of this please. At least for good movies.

He has to overshadow him. He is the mentor and the confident one. Ranveer is the timid one. He can't play it loud if he is portraying that timid role right. Ppl please understand the context
Mc sher was my fav character from the film apart from Sakhina’s mom, they should have given more scenes to shiba chadda. I thought after he didn’t get selected he will back fire on Murads character but story went so well and real. Fab

Good questions ! My first attempt at RAP , a tribute to Zoya and her vision ! Zoya tu aisi hai director Jiske saath kaam karna chahe har ik actor! Picture tu aisi banaati hai, jo masti masti mein dil ko chhoo jaati hai !💖✌️👊
I would've loved to hear what are Zoya Akthar's views on MC Sher character overshadowing Murad. Ranveer especially known for his flamboyance, was given the role to being the 2nd guy in the club. It must have been a very unique process cast selection.
But there was one most important question that you should have asked her, that Why the ending of the movie was so abrupt! Like the whole movie has such build-up towards the end but it's just left at certain point, like it has to be closed properly, the moment I saw the ending credits I said "ab iska part 2 aaega"🤣
Also, it didn't quite put the light over the relationship of murad-safeena at the end, they got married? They told their parents? There was no growth on their part as compared to beginning and end. It was very much unclear!
When someone acts brilliantly that person becomes lost in the scene and nobody notices them. Moeen was 100% authentic. Before going to theatres I saw an article on how well moeen was played. The only character that I would love to see again and again is the character of Moeen. I mean what an amazing acting man. That guy literally make me feel crying.
I loved loved loved the movie but yes i was looking for someone to say this in the comments section. Him being young and alive are good but associating being a boy with easily being swayed away....🤔 nah i kinda don't agree with that part. Having said that i do love Zoya Akhtar as a person and director. It's just this part that keeps me questioning
Wow great to see movie discussions like this that is not political garbage or flattery n giving ppl a space to cry “hate meri movie ko esa kese bol diya” types nonsense. Make movie discussion platform like this... more of right questions n dedicated to craft of making no click bait-ie rumors n shit !!!
Everything is good about the movie but I have just one question is it necessary to put that "taaviz" necklace to go with ranveers character just to show him as a Muslim guy.... I think people stereotype Muslim by that taaviz and kurta and surma you still be Muslim without those things....movie would still work without them
It is also okay to show that even people who wear topi, taviz and surma can have that talent hidden in them and a Safeena may want to wear lipstick, makeup and hang out with her male friends and not be made to feel guilty. Personal choice.
I love her as a director . But none of the scenes of her movie Gully Boy is written that well. It’s nothing unique or surprising. No scene is original. But her craft is making it look new. Pls pls work on the writing.
That red shirt guy reminds of the guy who just asks doubts for the sake of asking it and doesn't care if it's clarified or not, dude. Atleast acknowledge what zoya says..
MC Sher wouldn't have felt so savagely shamed because of his dad's drunkedness and bow out in the rap battle. makes no sense and was unconvincing. Also you should have asked about the 1-dimensional gora crew. Ridiculus. Finally Zoya (u come across as highly immature and entitled sorry) hope you will use the big bucks u made from the movie for Dharavi peep and the rap scene.
Long and boring movie just making money with publicity stunt, Desi Hip hop deserved better justice, Instead of concentrating on Hip hop this film just drifted away being busy trying to show Muslims in bad light , glorifying drug fiends , car thieves , dope dealers who use children. Shame on people who call this contemporary art

How can Zoya Akhtar show Murad's dad in bad light for second marriage, when her own dad Javed Akhter has done the same thing in real life ! The girl who played Ranveer's mother looked like his younger sister actually ! Couldn't they find a suitable aged women for the mother's character ?? When Murad called her Ammi, I could hear so many surprising voices in the hall while I was watching the movie here in Dubai. "Ammi...??" Muslims never do wazoo (ablution) from still water! How can they show the people doing wazoo in the mosque with still water ?? There is running water from taps , etc which is required for wazoo before offering Namaz. Recently there's a trend of showing the disclaimer that " violence against women is a crime", etc. What about violence against men?? Is it allowed ?? Lastly, why do girls take it as an insult if they are asked about cooking skills? Cooking is like any other skill or talent! Why feel so insecure??
Adnan Zakir Ali The whole idea was about a boy from the streets becoming a rapper! And Zoya wanted to show that this is what happens in India. Women are affected when their husbands get another wife at home. So, please also look at the positive sides of the movie! 😊
Also when you're talking about cooking as an art see the fact that women knowing how to cook is regarded to be an important criteria for so called rishta-hunters. If a women fails to know how to cook she isn't regarded as a"" wife-material"". Zoya Akhtar has done an incredible job in highlighting this issue. In an scene a mother tells Safeena's parents that her son is going abroad and won't be able to manage and asks her to cook for him to which she replies that she can perform a liver transplant surgery more efficiently. Here the mother wasn't interested in finding a wife for her son but a cook. So you see that, learning how to cook for a woman should be a choice not a necessity for her to find a life partner. It's not insecurity but the truth. So next time such misogynistic thoughts come to your mind, start thinking like a women and understand the issues a women face in her everyday life for being herself,.
