Is this what you get when you order an FD on Wish?
Hahaha 😂
its a better platform
Well the C5 was designed with pictures of the FD RX7 and NSX on the wall. I remember the og C&D article.
I think we need to lower the C5 like an inch after the dyno, then it'll be absolutely perfect!
New wheels as well
The first four minutes are about swapping lights and washing a bumper. WTF Rob?
@@wittyone2595 we used to get like 1 minute of video and half the oil system would be apart and back together again
The rotary vette has grown on me
How wouldn’t you like it from the start?
Yeh me too, once those stripes are gone it'd be a cool daily
My mind is still getting all fucked up seeing a C5 rolling around brappin' like a modded RX, the senses I'm receiving just don't add up, especially cause the the Vette looks stock. Love this project, great job Rob and the gang!
To me it just sounds all wrong when it was putting in the parking lot. Needs deeper exhaust notes, it needs to sound bigger to match the car I think.
PerplexedPhoton same. Every time it starts up I’m like, “the engine sounds off” the remind myself it’s powered by 2 Doritos. I like it 👌
There's so much space in that engine bay, the Vette really needs another rotor or two.
Same.
When you have to ask “Which rotary corvette?” You know this channel has made it. Keep up the good work Rob.
It'd be interesting to compare how it handles around a track compared to a stock C5 Z06.
I'm sure Rob has mentioned the weight difference at some point... Anyone remember?
@@AnttiBrax It wasn't as much as you'd think.I believe around 30lbs but the size difference let it be placed so much more central and lower.
I'm certain Rob would do this in a video if he thought it would show his rotary project in a favorable light.
Since (I don't think) the front subframe was never plated after the huge hunk was cut out of it to clear the rotary, I hope the front suspension wouldn't fold in half...
@@patricksteele4594 yeah, the pure engine weight difference should be over 100lbs but the 13b here has turbos and CA/oil coolers with piping... I guess it evens out quite well.
1 ten minute video a week just isn't going to cut it buddy. I need and require more from you.

im not subbing untill he ups his game
I agree but it's his loss!
Rob... Wheres the c5. Wait. C5 content. Yeeyee. This is how i found you.
At first I thought he was talking about the C8 😂😂
Imagine. "So I did some stuff off camera..."
Same! I thought to myself" bullshit Robert!"
@Jake Heke he keeps adding people to the team and somehow still getting absolutely nothing done....sorry he polished a marker light
c.lday44 he switched to creative
@@bradd5112 i mean its the first time hes doing this, i can understand why it takes time, im sure it would take you alot longer to be able to afford to do it as well as doing it. I know it would take me forever too. Plus the 4 rotor drivetrain and structural rigidity is complete, all he needs is the hood and the floor if he hasnt already put it in
Yes! Glad this thing is getting some air time 💯🔥🔥
Looking sick! I use to detail for a collision shop and what always helped me to get the writing off is detail degreaser. It helps break the ink down and eventually you can scrub it clean. Usually buff it after too, writting leaves a stain in the paint. Hope this helps!
When you see a Corvette starting up, you just expect a certain sound to appear. And when it cycles and cycles, and finally wakes up with a giant health-food fart, it just doesn't leave you cold. A whole library of emotions went through me, and I don't even care about Corvettes.
Hat is off, for this finished, obscure project!
This happened to me and in the end I was just smiling
Anyone: puts LS in rx7
Rob: takes revenge
Legend says if you’re this early you’ll own a rotary by the end of the year.
I wish
Alright! I'll finally be able to KLZE swap an RX car.
I hope so, I could really use one.
this feel when u watching this video at 10:48 pm=\
It's true, I've watched nearly every Rob Dahm video within minutes of it being uploaded for the past couple years, and last month I got an 85 RX7 :)
LS motor:Im the motor that replaces other motors
Rob Dahm & his 13B: Nah bruh
The LS was the motor of Choice in Fox bodies until the Coyote started eating LS for lunch. If you want to cheap go LS if you want to kick LS to the curb go Coyote.
@@RSDX99 so your saying Ford couldn't compare their mod motor to a basic LS so they built a exotic version of the LS. The new Coyote is a nice piece but let time and performance dictate where it ends up historically before you claim a winner.
@@Turbochapman its just the truth, with the right setup and engineering a DOHC v8 is gonna eat a pushrod v8.
Ryan not dollar for dollar.
@@regal105 no shit, being mass produced in every Chevy vehicle makes them very attainable
As a sign of appreciation for rotary vette content, I watched the entire ad and even clicked the link. Make me proud baby daddy 👍🏽
Coming from someone who owns multiple Corvettes, I fucking love what you have done with this c5!
Definitely a keeper if he trust you with a hammer 😂
That was a cringe moment for me lol, holy shit
Me: Mom!! Can we buy this FD?!!
Mom: We already have an FD at home
FD at home: *shows a rotary powered C5*🗿
Rob, you should know that your recent video on the intercooler has inspired me to design an intake manifold for my 93 3000GT VR4. I ran the design from Fusion 360 through Autodesk CFD, and got a beautiful fluid simulation result. Straightened flow tracers!
lol @ that one corner, Cleetus's new drift car c5 has damage there.
I worked at a body shop where we would do all the Callaway Corvettes and I could tell you that lining that front end up is a PITA and shims are your best friend on this one. Lots of shims and washers.
The rear end of the c5 looks amazing 👌 and the spec you got is really sick too, the black with blue stripes is killer. After the tune I can't wait for more cosmetics and rotary sounds 😂
I was getting some serious anxiety for that guys hands when you where swinging that hammer Rob! That's some serious trust!
I was watching in cold sweats. Not sure if trust or blissful ignorance to what was happening
Rob Dahm saying "It's my time to finish projects." wins the best intro for any video on youtube today.
FINALLY ROB, WE BEEN WAITING!
Yay Rob! You finally gave me something to watch today!
As a carpenter, the guy that held the shaft for Rob is a brave brave man 😳
Yep, I did not think he'd use that amount of force.
Look at Rob go!!! It's nice to watch a plan come together. Nice
I’ve gotta say that I love to hear that sound.
Everyone doing there LS swaps on everything but you my friend are the true pioneer.
Rotaries are freaking awesome that’s why I love your channel 🤘🏻
Car looks good Rob. Michigan boy myself. Proud of what you have accomplished bud
Good job Rob
Looks much better. I cant wait to see it hit the dyno. Starting to look like a complete build. Thank you Rob
Gotta do something about that exhaust. Not doing the 2 rotor justice. But goddamn that engine bay is beautiful. You're the man Rob!
Exactly, i had the same problem with my headlights you have to bake them to break the adheasive at 250° then clean and coat the inside and rebake them and mabe re adhesive wherever they make contact and slap them back together!
I am a fan of this car! On plastic and fiberglass, they make glue and epoxy to fix those small cracks.
that thing is so cool. I love how it sounds.
Yes 1 out of 3 finished!! Been waiting on this since last years LS fest Thanks rob! Your gonna have to start another one you aren't a 2 open builds type of guy lol
Adam's polishes! Adam is such a genuine guy. Love being so local to hq!
*beautiful,keep going KINGS*
I think if were me, I would be consuidering LED replacements for the DLR's taht are cracking from excessive heat
They are cheap and readily available.
Me, too!
For that matter, I need to find some LED replacements for the sealed beams on my Cherokee.
Props for finishing stuff up.
You should put a steering lock kit on that Corvette and use it as your drift car 👌🏼🤙🏻👌🏻 Would be class you could drift with other tubers too 👌🏻💚
There's a fuse under the hood (I believe it's the number 2). Pull it to disable the DRLs to prevent the headlights from melting further.
There will be newer and more expensive corvettes but nothing will ever look meaner than a black C5 with those cigarette butt lights in the back. I love it.
It messes with my head every time... love it
It's easy to fix the blinker light crack. Dremel the whole top burnt plastic off, make it nice and square and then cut a stainless or galvanized sheet of metal and using screws, tap and glue it with high temp silicone in place. Here in Europe, most of the guys i know with vettes do something like that vs paying the absurd price to get them shipped.
Edit: this also gives you access to clean them. This is a permanent fix solution, vs buying new ones and getting the same issue (if you don't switch to LED).
Looks so good!
6:42 “Isaiah’s working on the semi peepee in the background” 👀
Semi Peripheral port. Probably fabricating a new lower intake manifold.
I'm always waiting to see Rob's enthusiastic face, just makes your day better. Much love from Russia
Cant wait for your aerovette
I haven’t been able to decide if I wanna pull the trigger and do E85 on my FD. I can honestly say what the results are tomorrow will definitely help me decide. Can’t wait!
Seeing that bumper on is sooo refreshing, seems like every CZcamsr project is missing body panels.
Omfg! Rob that boy has some serious trust in you with that hammer 😱 Jesus
Love what you do.
I can't wait for the Dyno!
You can fix the plastic bumper with a plastic welder. Runs off like 4-12 psi of air and plugs into the wall. Also it would be good content and teach people how to save money! Just make sure you get the correct rods for the material you are welding on.
Rob, you have reached a point in your life now where you have to specify which Rotary Corvette youre talking about. xD
Looking forward to some driving action with this car.
I love this car!
Looks and sounds awesome.
Love it Rob it looks great all together. Sounds even better :D
Yo rob for headlights to get the best final product you want to use a heavy compound and a super abrasive pad to buff it, then use a lighter compound and buff a little more, then thoroughly wipe it down and apply the lens sealer to make it shine again.
Recently had the bumper off my Honda and something similar happened to the turn signal enclosures, both the left and right side had large holes close to where the bulb sits. I used some jb plastic weld putty to replace the missing material.
Most people swap LS motors into RX7s. I love how you swapped a rotary into a Corvette. It's almost like an F-U, rotary is king.
That is so awesome! I remember in 2008 i was thinking about doing this but never had the tools needed for fabrication but im so happy to see this finally being done. Im happy to know that im not the only one that thought about doing this. I always figured, theres all these people doing ls swaps in rx7's and ruining their handling when rotaries are better and so why not swap a rotary into a corvette or camaro?
Lol Isaiah looking over biting his bottom lip when you turn over the c5 lol hahaha
that rotary sound when it fires up still makes my brain wobble lol its the last sound you expect to come from that thing
Should do a throwback to where the 4 rotor started and paint the C5 Montego Blue if you're going to paint it!!
There are height adjustment lock screws under the painted headlight covers.
I love this Corvette.
Finally, a Corvette that sounds good!
I like the rotary enginge sound so so so much
Admit it everyone's first thought was about the C8 😂
Yessss dyno time and the track to set her first c5 rotary time 👏👏👏
proud of u dahm!
I think rob has loved corvette's all along
800 grit wet sand on really bad lights then do a 1000 to lighten scuffs from 800 and then a 1200 grit to smooth it off then buff to a clean new finish.
Hey, I just started watching an Amazon sieres, Upload, the guy reminds me loads of you!!
Alright a treat to see another rob dahm upload
Adjust the ride height! Those transverse springs have adjustable pucks for raising and lowering the car.
If you wet sand with 3000 and then use actual buffing compounds it makes them brand new. A lot of it isnt what ppl think its actually from rocks hitting the plastic and them they get foggy looking. So u basically need to the same steps u would do for a clear coat scratch
Hey Rob, Vivid makes air release light smoke headlights tailight film ! Stuffs plyable with just a heatgun and mold to anything and look excellent, also while allowing the leds im assuming you have for bulbs shine through perfectly!
Gotta love a Rotorvette
Rob has the best two builds on yt the new vette and the four rotor but let's finish the c5
I love this car
a quick spray with clear coat on the inside of those running lights would do to clear up the oxidation once they are dry, something to do one day. Also WD40 is great at getting baked on markings off.
God, why are rotary corvettes so cool. Would feel like after 4 rotor RX7; nothing could please as much. But somehow that C5 has its head high with its brothers.
clean bro 👌
congrats on finishing a project
Hint on that paint marker. Use goof-off. Itll remove old baked paint marker with ease!
Sounds like it is Briggs & Stratton powered !
Im not sure why but I used a headlight restore kit on a 90s chevy and had similar problem with film on inside. I believe the headlight material was porous. It flung inside onto the reflective material and was foggy.
Hi rob!!!!!!
I pray to God you bring this thing to LS Fest
1:30 toyota tacoma has that happen to them on the daylight running marker lights. it cooks the from glass and its the part you see.... looks really nice. and that was on a 2013 or so toyota tacoma
God job Rob
DUDE this is like my favorite gen vette cause it was the last with pop-up headlights
Finally something completed
Finally a cool Corvette
