  • In the spring of each year beekeepers become obsessed with swarming. It is a reproductive event where two thirds of the workers and the queen leave the hive to seek a new nesting site. It is a huge disappointment to the beekeeper as he/she has lost much, if not all of the honey production from that hive for the season. This short video is one of my hives swarming. You might note that I was working in the hive immediately adjacent. Swarm management is the catch word of the day….but I was just a bit behind the curve with this particular swarming hive.
