      @@giovanninomotu-schaaf1167 Leclerc is fantastic, yes - but I think Sainz has proved throughout 2023 that he is just as capable as Leclerc in providing good results. The highlight of the 2023 season (for Ferrari) was when Sainz pulled off a tactical master class in Singapore to finish first.. Let's see how both drivers fare this year, I'm hoping that Sainz will prove the 'naysayers' wrong - he is not mediocre at all - but we'll see, it's going to be interesting!

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n Před 4 měsíci +8

      @@giovanninomotu-schaaf1167 The big thing with Sainz and Leclerc is that they were so complimentary to each other. Leclerc often hasn't been forceful enough when the team has waffled on decision-making. Sainz wasn't afraid to override team orders when necessary and make his own decisions, which ironically tended to work out better for the team as a whole since both Leclerc and Sainz don't drive solely for themselves. I also think Sainz might be a little bit more of a cerebral driver than Leclerc.
      All this is to say that Sainz is basically a strong #2 driver who seemed to pair especially well with Leclerc. Ferrari might regret overlooking this aspect, although I'm very excited to see how it plays out with Hamilton in that seat.

    I predict Mercedes may "recall" Bottas with a huge pay raise and juicy bonus as incentive. The team is in shambles, and they need someone who won't rock the boat; a "yes man" if you will, and that will either be Bottas or Mick. Either way, they would only be there as a stop-gap (hence why I think Mick may also be possible) until Kimi Antonelli is ready, as I doubt Toto will want to pluck him too soon and unceremoniously throw him to the wolves before he is fully ready.
    This would leave a spot open in Stake/Audi for Carlos to step into.
    It's possible that if Carlos went to Red Bull, he would focus on making himself a living hell for Ferrari. Think Checo in Abu Dhabi 2021, but for every lap of every race. He would want to make them regret dumping him like garbage, while also showing that he can contribute to a championship team by defending against their rivals.
    AMR and Williams are very doubtful. Right now, AMR's future is looking far brighter than Mercedes' (even Ferrari was outpacing Mercedes by the end of last season). So unless AMR falls off a cliff, which would then make them a terrible team for anyone to go to, the only way Alonso leaves is if he decides another terrible career move is in the works. I think Alonso will observe both AMR and Merc's performance and judge at the end, but I suspect Merc will struggle greatly.
    As for Williams, I can't see James Vowles letting Alex go without a fight. Furthermore, Alex is not only the number one driver, it's practically his team like Ferrari with Schumacher, Mercedes with Lewis and Red Bull with Max. On top of this, it's a historic team and now that it's finally improving, it would be terrible to just drop them. Plus, Alex is looking like he will go down as the driver that saved Williams. There's just too much going on in his favor for him to jump ship to Mercedes, who may be in the midst of reenacting the Titanic as a Formula 1 team.

    A move to Stake before transitioning to Audi makes so much sense for Carlos. It's a risk, but it's either go to Audi and build the team around him, or go to a team where there's already an established driver.

    The Aston Martin option looks quite fitting for him, but it depends on what Alonso does for 2025 or if the team finally gets rid of Lance Stroll.
    Audi is the easy choice, mostly due to his father's link with the brand currently.
    But what about going to Red Bull to be n° 2 to Max? I poise Albon for that spot, but Sainz has also have to be considered tho.....

      Talk to Ferrari. LH is being paid way more over there.
      By the way... Ferrari's stock value jumped up by $10 billion INSTANTLY just by LH signing up. Sounds like a good business move by Ferrari to me.
      Let's see how Mercedes' stock value performs with "superstar Georgie" being the one to lead their imagery and sales of merchandise, as they now have to dump all the LH/ Mercedes merchandise into the land fill. The 50 (or so?) GR fans might not fill the humongous following LH brought to Mercedes.
      Mercedes and GR are about to find out the hard way that over 85% of "Mercedes fans" were, in fact...

    @rars0n Před 4 měsíci +1

    I think Stake is most likely for Carlos. While I think that Carlos to Red Bull could make a lot of sense, I think team chemistry would be a strong reason not to make that move (although it's worth pointing out that these are now older, more mature versions of both drivers), and admittedly I am more optimistic than most about Daniel Ricciardo's potential in the Red Bull seat, so I think he makes the most sense for Red Bull right now. Mercedes would be a good option as well, but I think it makes more sense to make the move to Audi a year early. He'd be a strong upgrade over either existing driver as well and that could benefit the team as they make the transition to Audi.

    Well my thoughts. I don't think Mercedes see George as there golden boy anymore. It's him who was pushing on keep developing the zero pod design, where Sir already did mention it was better to get away from it (remember the comments from him that they didn't listen to him in beginning 2023). So I'm expecting they (Mercedes) realize that and they will put an extra effort in getting Alonso. If Sainz would go to Mercedes think they will do it sooner then later (this swap) can you imagine, Ferrari asking in the race to Sainz, can you please let Leclerc pass by? That would be hilarious... The drivers can't help develop the car so it's just a year so it hits hard for both teams.
    I expect AM going for Sainz and Alonso to Mercedes. Don't think Sainz will go to pre Audi (or it's his only option). He never went for a team that he could lead so why would he now do so with a team what's probably fighting for second worse against Haas.
