I got a Civivi Praxis about a month ago and I think it's the best folder ever made, period. Cost me about 40 bucks delivered to my house, I think the price is what throws many folks away from the fact of how great this knife is. I am not a youngster, I have owned many folders, all I can tell you is buy this knife, I recommend the second gen version with ceramic bearings - You Will Be Amazed !!
I love these videos. Typically it comes down to two things:
1. Which knife is the best hypothetically?
2. Which knife is actually carried the most?
The answer to the 2nd question is more important than the 1st. No matter how many knives are in my rotation, there's always a Swiss Army Knife in my left pocket, so in reality (for me) it'd be a SAK.

I didn't have a Hinderer in my extensive collection a month ago, now I have three. I really like my 3 inch Skinny and have two of them. I would be extremely hard pressed to pick one knife as all of us knife enthusiasts would be, but the XM18 would defiantly be on the short list.
I'm curious what your choice would be today, but I fully agree with your choice in this video. I can't seem to find that exact one though so I stuck with it's imitation, ZT 0393.

So sebenza doesn't even get a mention? I'm searching for my next knife purchase and I'm interested in a sebenza 31, a stryder, something by brian tighe, and I like the look of one of the hogue sig sauer knives. It seems that knives by Tighe, and Stryder are mostly out of stock all over.

If I could only keep one knife, it would be my Spyderco Shaman. Reasons? S30V is a well-rounded steel and the blade of the Shaman is beefy. It's very comfortable, great action, fantastic looks, big but not overly so. No bearings, no springs. I'm used to the weight.

Hmmm, out of all my Spydercos, would be my xm18 3.5 skinny slicer or large 21 red micarta...great food for thought as to which would honestly make the 'cut' for life.
I have very few EDC knives. One reason is that when choosing a knife I ask myself- when the poop hits the fan and I'm x miles from home and want to get there, would this knife be my best option? That and my flashlight and Leatherman Charge TTi.
I own a junk removal company. About 10 yrs ago I found a box with about 30 knives in it. A lot of Spydercos. Also a few bayonets, some Buck knives and some Swiss Army knives. I sold most of them on Ebay and made almost 2 grand. I only kept one Swiss army knife and one that is called a Beretta airlight
For me there is an easy answer to this question. After carrying it for 30+ years, it would be my trusty AFCK. It will prepare a meal, clean a deer, clean a fish, help me in self defense if needed. Anything bigger than that I will use an axe or some type of saw. It is easy to keep sharp and clean, I couldn`t ask any more out of a pocket knife. I have maybe 40 knives, half of them really nice ones, but you asked for just 1, and that`s it for me.
While Spyderco is my favorite brand, one knife for the rest of my days I think it would be Cold Steel, either Recon 1 or SR1.
Damen0530 hit the nail on the head with that statement. No other knife can do what a cold steel recon 1 in S35VN can do. Hands down the best EDC / EMERGENCY knife money can buy.
bibi green I live in Miami Florida, all my gear is steered towards urban survival. Spyderco is a good knife but I don’t believe there is one knife brand out there that can out perform a cold steel knife

If it is ONE knife it has to cover all the bases, including general utility, tactical, fine cutting, durability, corrosion resistance, etc. I don't know which is best, but it has to be at least a 3" blade, high quality steel, sturdy handle, easy to deploy. Using these criteria, you can eliminate many from consideration, including SAK (which are otherwise great and I love my cadet model).
I have carried a bright orange one for edc for the last decade or so.
I have several Hinderers XM’s but I don’t know why they don’t deploy as well as yours.
How can you tell which generation they are?

Thought for sure you had some ZTs. Is that your whole collection? I nailed it though - I knew it would be xm-18, but thought it would be the textured scales.
Of my current much smaller collection, it would be my Benchmade Mini Adamas. If I hadn’t lost my all-black Para 3, it might have been that, although the Adamas is more versatile. If it was a survival situation, my Joker Ursus fixed blade would get the nod.
I knew that was going to be the 1 when I saw it on the table. Well would be between it and the one with the textured scales. Would have been shocked if it was any different.
Would the same hold true if it was an SHTF and WROL( without rule of law) situation??

Same for me but it’d be my 3in non flipper xm. Full ti s35vn. Ive had it for years and carried it for almost as long. With out the flipper it has perfect ergonomics. Maybe a no choil no flipper 3in would win out with the longer blade but as of now this is it. Hinderer is just the way to go quality for the price.
Wow, how come I didn't find this video of yours until now? I really appreciate your choice of knives and can tell you put a ton of thought into this video. This is the kind of video I've got to watch twice cuz I'm not familiar with many of these guys. The Todd Begg knives are interesting. Prices can go north of $777 (whoever thought of that number plays the slot machines!) yet they are manufactured in China. And that Damasteel brand is sold-out popular. That's a phenomenon I'm still trying to wrap my head around. Am pleased your dual-Ti scaled XM-18 made it to the top.

Quick question, and maybe something that you could talk about, in an upcoming video?
If you could change one or two things on a given knife model (Steel choice, scale material, etc.) . Would your top 5 list change much, or at all? Would your "Can only keep one knife" list change? Not likely, right? When Ti, is your favorite scale material.
That's interesting to think about. I'm not really sure. I could probably torture myself (and my viewers) infinitely exploring that lol. I'll have to find a way to turn that into a discussion video.
If only one knife for me it has to be something titanium and a steel that stays sharp with a warenclif or drop point blade that has a steel that stays sharp but strips back easily. Idk what exact knife that is yet but it’s out there.
It's weird that I love my Hinderer just as much as you, but I don't carry it very often. I guess I'm afraid to "ding" it! Great video!

Modern folders only. I can only evaluate what I have owned and used. When it gets down to the last few options it gets really tough. Finally, it ends up an Emerson model which he created for Benchmade many years ago. Slow for me to deploy. A speedlock Kershaw 3655 is the lighest, easiest carry for me until shtf. However, no knife I own will do better for me after shtf. I would have to take it over the Spyderco Police models kept for carry after shtf.

Lo love for PM2?! For me it destroys all other Spyderco knives. I have a Manix 2 and the Para 2 ergonomics beat it for me both in hand and in pocket.
Its a great knife truthfully. Just doesnt have the "X factor" for me.

Moras are quite popular here in Finland and pretty much all the knives I have ever used have been puukko type knives which moras are too as far as I'm concerned. So I quess when you get used to one type of tool it's hard to move to different one. I also have planned on making my own puukko and if I ever do that it would probably replace the mora.

Man for a lot of us, detail work is so important. Cutting labels, food prep, making precise cuts in cardboard, shaving, wood work, foam. All of those need precise cuts sometimes. The real question is why take away control for more blade length that you probably won't use.

But wonce you have some great knives you get this....need not want for quality pocket jewelry and hip accessories. So I could do 10 and I might be able to go as low as 7

If I can be frank…no one cares what knife means the most to you. A more compelling video would be the knife that you find to have the most utility. So you get to keep all your knifes but can only carry one for the next 12 months.
If I can be frank, 30k people watched, and according to the like/dislike ratio, most enjoyed it. You definitely don't speak for everyone. In fact, you're speaking for the minority. What you need to understand here is that my videos are mainly viewed by my own subscribers (57k) so... ya. Most of them do care. I've done the video you're describing btw. That one did well too.
