In my opinion everyone should own 4 types of knives. 1 folder, 1 multi tool, 1 fixed blade, and 1 chopper.
And they should carry ALL OF THEM AT ONCE. 👁👄👁🗡
@@NickMC512 at all times XD
Agreed: coldsteel ad10, victorinox spirit x, buck Selkirk, and the fiskar x7
On top of those, I recommend carrying a small 5th pocket knife. Personally I carry a civivi ki v in 5th pocket and a paramilitary 2 regularly
And a karambit
I think the leatherman wave has to be one of the best overall knives on earth.
It is and an upgrade is the Leatherman Charge TTI, it’s the Wave but better.
8:10 that magic though. Guy doing the video effects needs a raise for his sense of humor and entertaining the masses.
LOVE my recon 1!! Absolute beast of a knife, taken it camping and voided the warranty by batonning with it numerous times, started fires with a ferro rod, literally dozens of outdoor tasks. Been with me every day since I've owned it, best investment I've ever made.
The saw on the Tom brown tracker is for making quick notches for traps and for slashing so the rope or paracord won't slip down or up the brach or log. Very useful for shelter building
To the team who edits these videos,
You guys are treasures please don't ever stop
As a Canadian I need an OTF for pancakes, lumber Jacking and moose hunting.
And for harvesting maple syrup I bet. That's what I picture a Canadian doing every morning, getting up, scratching their labs head, putting on their flannel shirt, shoing the moose off the front porch, and turning the tap on the maple tree to put fresh syrup on their pancakes.
@@zzippo81 Sometimes it's a bear that needs to be chased off the porch however, you hit the nail on the head with everything else.
69th like
Canadians aren't allowed to own autos because they're about 300X more dangerous than flippers.
Don't use an OTF on yore pancakes! It'll get sticky!
I found a benchmade 940 on the ground recently.
Pretty good score.
yea i lost mine too
Uh yea I lost mine too
Oops, just noticed mine was gone
I actually found it on the stairs in my building.
A meth junkie that was hanging with my meth dealing downstairs neighbor dropped it.
I walked by it twice assuming it was a cheap-o, but I finally picked it up thinking at least nobody would get stabbed with it if it was in my junk drawer.
I pinch gripped it like a dirty sock until I got up into my place and then I washed it real good...that's when I saw the bench made logo.
I'm a Spyderco man myself, but I was pretty happy with my find.
Nice knife.
That's mine
every time they pull out a mermaid on this show I feel like I've been Rick rolled
🤣🤣🤣
To be honest me too
Same 🤦🏻♂️
LOL!
I feel like that whenever they whip out a bug out
Just picked up the bugout mini and the 940-2. Gave the mini to my buddy and i'll never part with the 940-2, it just has everything i've been looking for. Light, robust blade, melts into the pocket, beautiful. This was after carrying a Kershaw leek for 7 years, yes the same one. Thanks for all the effort you guys put into your videos. The research to the data collection, it is not unnoticed and is my go to for knife info. Keep up the magnificent work!
_LOOK AT THIS GrAaAaAaPh_
That was a stroke.
I'm laughing so hard right now.
Genius
Gotta love nickelback😂
lmfao i cant....
Too bad you can't swear. "Look at this phukin' graph" would have been gold.
that boker looks like something you would find next to the energy drinks at the checkout of a convenience store
43% + 67% = 110% of knife addicts approve. Maths are hard when you're on camera. -Ben
Blade HQ I absolutely love your channel and your website!!! You guys are my go to site and I order multiple times a month on Blade HQ!! Keep being awesome you guys!!!! God bless!!!
I haven’t seen you do a review of the Gerber LMFII or LMF ASEK, good knifes or similar to the Tom brown?
What happened to Austin ( probably skipped the episode you addressed it) just want to know. Last seen September 14th 2017
Leatherman Crater
oscar herrera he died
“Look at this graph!” 🎤😂
James Patton that was so good...
I can’t stop laughing!
I kniw, right??
I've carried a cold steel recon 1 since I was enlisted. The 125 pound spine is dependable and it's yet to disappoint. It is a tank of a knife but it takes a little effort to sharpen it. Like you guys said, to each his own lol
I’ve carried/ had the Leatherman Wave since 2000. 20 years and it’s still awesome.
How are these videos always so entertaining? You guys do a fantastic job!
Love Spyderco knives. Have owned a Stainless Police for 15 years and recently purchased an Endura 4. I am interested in picking up the Cold Steel Luzon in both 4" & 6" too. They make some really nice knives for the $$$.
I recently ordered a Schrade folding karambit, absolutely loving it.
That's cool, I love karambits! I went with a fixed blade with a Kydex sheath for my karambit! 😀
My favorites are a Leatherman Skeletool CX (for every day carry) or a Leatherman MUT (for SHTF/heavy duty stuff), a USMC KA-BAR and a Spyderco Paramilitary 2.
The rogue video editing pushes these videos into another category of awesome.
Top 5 is great, but what we really need is a top 20 video. Good luck.
EpicSnuggleBunny...more like 100
EpicSnuggleBunny so much yes
I have the 940. But all the time i circulate CRKT knives all the time.
Top 73 knives
69 sounds like a doable number.
On the Tom brown tracker the saw is so-so but the first notch on the saw is deeper for breaking wire, I’ve used it and I love it! Hellova blade!
Im a year late but my picks are:
940
Leatherman Wave
Wave plus
Surge...
@@DanDanai1 Dick...
PM2
Leatherman Surge
I would recommend an opinel it’s less then $20 and very sharp and very high quality
But if I was stuck on an island personally ill take the Filipino Talibong from TFW
But if it had to be a knife I’d say some kind of larger Bowie probably the TFW Bowie and if it had to be a folder I’d probably take a large folder or a benchmade 87 or 85
(Oh but just btw I don’t own any of those lol)
Now if I had to chose from the stuff I have I would take
The SOG fasthawk or CRKT tomahawk if I could choose anything
Then glory fire khukuri if it had to be a knife then my promate titanium dive knife if a folder then my
Benchmade mini griptillion (I have the Discontinued pink one half serrated btw)
Should have expected the mermaid. Feels like I got rickrolled
Agree, lol.
You'll be no stranger to love with Ariel on your hip.
Trevor Brown iiii
When they said a fancy folder I knew it
Ugh! Ya got me
Glad there's a Cold Steel in there. I've got 4, but they're different sized Voyagers. I'll have to rake a look at the Recon though.
8:08 is my favourite thing of all time 😂 Matthew is amazing and I love Zac and miss Ben! Haha
My favorite knives:
1. Benchmade 940-1 (CPM S90V, Carbon Fiber handle) I loooove this knife! My EDC go to
2. Spyderco Military (CPM S30V, G10 handle)
3. Chris Reeve Large Sebenza 21 (CPM S35VN, Black Ebony Inlay in Titanium handle)
4. Spyderco Brad Southard (CTS-204P Carpenter Steel, Earth Brown G10 handle in Titanium)
5. Buck Knives Ron Hood Hoodlum (5160 Carbon Steel, Micarta handle)
I have so many knives that I love, but I think that those 5 are the ones I would take if someone limited me to five for the rest of my life. :)
Matthew's magic was the best part of this. Made me laugh out loud. Nice job!
What i like a bout the tracker is there's so much blade steel you can grind it down and make something better!
Lots of grinding to be done there
Savage
Exactly!
That's what she said?
A lot of room for fuck ups on the grinder
Nice choices, pretty interesting. Personally, as an EDC, favorite is Native 5 with S35VN
Left pocket: Spyderco resilience with lanyard and spyder cube.
Right side: Buck 110 classic in custom leather cross draw seath.
That Nickelback edit was brilliant
Patrick Koch look at this graaaaaph!
Funny as hell.
I love that song
Ben opening up with "What iiiiiiiiissss up guys" and then you getting to see Zac with Matthew working his magic behind the scenes is the solution to every problem! This channel is better than therapy, your wife, your children and even the meanest apple strudel you can find!
The CS Recon 1 has been my EDC since 2014. You just can’t hurt this knife, period. Mine has the half-serrated, high-carbon blade and is the model they used to make the Recon 1 ‘rope cut’ video (very impressive video). I have hundreds of knives-many of them are the very top of the line, but I am literally *afraid* to leave home without the Recon 1. Worked in for the last five years, the blade is now smooth, quick and easy to deploy and easily maintains its razor edge, and the lock spine is still a positive-lock with an absolutely wiggle-free engagement, which is a real confidence-booster when contemplating quick use in self-defense.
My two: Cold Steel Recon 1, Becker-Kephart camp knife. All I need.
Wish they'd make a micarta version of the 940. Maybe couldn't get the classic shape though, not sure.
That would be 👍
I agree,I’m a sucker for micarta
That would be awesome! I love the feel of micarta!
Spyderco, Tops, Benchmade, Cold Steel & Esee. Those are my favorite knife makers, you can't go wrong with a blade from any of them
*One question for you Zach*
Does the Tracker still smell like victory?
That was the best knife video I've ever seen. I didn't expect a soft-bladed Vic to make the cut, nor the Surge. Both great choices.
My two? Buck Vantage Pro (the small Cabelas version with rosewood inserts) and my trusty Victorinox Explorer Plus.
I'm not in the woods that much, but when I am, I bring along a hatchet or cheap folding saw. No need to have a clunky knife that doubles as a hatchet. Just bring a hatchet and be done with it.
I own a tracker and I love it. I actually used it to build a little hut with my friend and it performed so well that later that week he went out and bought one him self.
My Zero Tolerance 0393 and Bark River Bravo 1.25
Love the tom brown tracker ! So glad you chose that!
Hmm just bought a kershaw cryo and loving it i feel like its good enough for daily use without breaking the bank
I’d have to go Leatherman Charge TTI and Fallkniven A1. Hope to get a Pm2 eventually for pocket carry. The wide range of opinions is what makes these vids and their comments fun. Thanks guys!
I work on planes, so I need a small practical knife that doesn’t feel like a katana so after many purchases my go to is a Kershaw Cryo G10
"I need a small practical knife that doesn’t feel like a katana" LOL. Well played!
That was actually well thought out in a world of fluff and rhetoric, and reviews by people who never use those knives for anything but pocket jewelry. Thank you.
I'm a multi-tool person who just likes knife videos. Thrilled to see a Surge and Victorinox get a mention. I would be quite happy to carry & use a Surge for the rest of my days.
I still rock my Gerber downrange I was issued in Army years ago. I even bought more of them on Ebay for extras. They work for me.
1:32 😂 the power of editing .....Mahalo 😎🤙
"look at this graph"
Im done. Lol
For me being in the navy and constantly working on electronic equipment/opening tons of boxes for parts im going with:
#1: Leatherman super tool 300
#2 Bradford 3.5 tanto
First time seeing this video. I'm partially suprised to say that I'm 3/5 classic PM2, a Carbon Osborn, and an Ultratech with a bayonet blade. And, I love all 3!
I was stranded on an island. Mermaid bewbs got me through it!!!
First I want to say thank you for talking about the Canadian Situation. Just to clarify, its not that any laws have changed. It's that one organisation has changed it's interpretation of an existing law in a way that effectively bars the import of pretty much all modern knives. That means that not only do users and collectors not have the ability to buy knives from the US but it means that many small businesses can no longer import the products they sell to make a living!
So please help and support us if you can! We Canadians are just as passionate about knives as everyone else and we have lots of men and women that use/sell knives on a daily basis that are going to be out of luck if this isn't overturned!
My Top 2 for the rest of my life.....Spyderco Military and a GEC of some kind.
Big Tom brown tracker fan. Got the skullcrusher sxb and several smaller variants. If you know how to use it, it's going to be the most versatile fixed blade knife you can own. The teeth on the spine aren't for sawing through things. It's meant for putting a notch into a tree to string paracord for a rain cover/tent, or for making a trap. I like the sxb because it can be used as a hatchet/axe and the smaller ones are used for scout carry and cleaning game. Hope that helps.
I love my Benchmade Rift with the black and white G10 handle. It has the axis lock and just feels like a beefed up 940. My 940-2 is my favorite knife so it only comes out on special occasions (even though I have two of them).
Agreed!!! My Rift is my favorite Benchmade folder
My EDC is a leatherman wave + and spyderco tenacious
One must have lifetime knife should be a USMC KA-BAR hands down. Gets the job done and also a great tool for protection. Not an EDC but definitely a must have for anyone.
Strongest pocket knife I’ve used was the benchmade crooked river, thing is an absolute beast.that being said my favorite at the moment is the zt 0770cf because of the blade design it’s actually really useful if you know what it’s designed for.
Matthew needs a raise. I'll buy a knife to fund it
Mark Brandt I second that. Dude is a genius
Let's at least give the man a video editing award. Perhaps a nice Chia pet?
I can’t believe the Manix 2 wasn’t the top Spyderco named!
We killed our last Chia pet. #ripBobRoss
@@bionick4281 by far my favorite EDC knife of all time !! The MANIX 2XL is so bad ass 💯❤🔥❗
The victorinox knife you have is called the deluxe tinker!
Nope! Its victorinox mechanic
Siwar ALTAL you're right the deluxe tinker has scissors!
Ive carried a swiss army deluxe tinker for the past 3 years edc. Its NEVER failed to do its job(s)
Buy the new Swiss Champ wood. Elegant thing
I’ve carried one for decades, EDC. TSA borrowed a few from me over the years because I always have it on me. I’m naked without it. The plastic toothpick is a mean lock pick as well
@@TheGreatGastronaut I hate the TSA! 😠
Great video guys. I can give you one knife, Spyderco PM2. That's the nicest one I own so far. Pretty new at this collection gig, but I'm learning about knives pretty quickly. Keep up the good work
The magic was just epic.
No fixed blades! :( Everyone needs a fixed blade!
Edit: I'm glad, at least, that you guys brought some fixed blades out.
I gots a 6" Buck Special, such badass looking rig and not bad on the belt sag either, carrying it around you barely feel it...
I got a 119 special
Will K there all $$$$$$ also
a six inch blade never loses reception
@@halbgefressen9768 fookin Lazer sights
I bought the first Spyderco that ever came out. Loved it still have it the Delica full serrations. It originally had the pocket clip integrated into the handle. At that point couldn't care less. The knife was SO revolutionary I just had to have it. Probably stopped carrying the Buck from that day on. After that all HELL broke loose, & it has never been the same since Frame locks liner locks, axis locks. I own probably 100 knives or so. Ya the old BUCK 110 sits in a drawer most of the time. I carry a Gerber para frame every day. Holds a good edge, easy to sharpen & I don't care if I break it or lose it.. I give them to all my friends & co-workers to get them to understand how useful a pocket knife is. Like I said I have carried one daily since I was 7 yrs old.
I got a "Sharp" folding pocket knife 31 years ago from my parents on my 25th birthday. Made in Japan. 2" blade. Been the best darn knife ever. Carry it every day.
My favorite folder I've carried thus far is a Cold Steel Recon 1 clip point.
"Aftermarket seashells" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My brother is SF. 12 year's. This is what he carried. Leatherman signal (I bought for him.) Cold steel recon 1 and in his pocket was a green victorinox pioneer. Today now home for good he has a knife (I'm not sure what it is) and he said he always has a victorinox in his pocket.
As a commercial fisherman in Alaska the knife that works best for is the spyderco rescue, it saved my life when
A crab pot line wrapped around my leg.
I carry it on my left chest strap and use it at least 20 times a day for just about everything. I treasure this knife and keep a spare in my sea bag. I also carry a leatherman skeletool with bit kit in my right pocket. You will never know the value of a good knife until you have to work with it and trust it on a daily basis. I even carry the rescue when I'm home.
"Every knife guy should own an OTF" *cries in British*
@z z I know you probably tried to be funny, but you weren't, sweetheart.
cries in german beer
@z z the law of OTF knives is the same throughout the UK 🤔
Dude just break the law
I'm in CA and can't buy them.
Kershaw ken onion leek. Its fantastic for EDC, and it's like $40. Unbelievable knife.
Absolutely my fave
I got one for Christmas two years ago and dropped and broke the plastic lock 😢
Guys I own a Tom Brown Tracker. Not only have I used it here in UK, ive used it in Sweden, Norway, Spain, France, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan & Canada. Its a learning curve but man, its awesome. I pack a smaller blade too. Usually a Mora.
And Ben, the "Saw" sucks for sawing. But, for notches, like on tent stake, pegs etc. it rocks. Also, for processing tinder, the "Saw" is great to work out fine shavings/Dust and with a slow draw cut the half moon makes amazing feather sticks.
I carry the Leatherman P4 as an EDC and a TOPs Tom Brown Tracker T3 [the stainless steel version] when I go hiking or camping / other outdoorsy things that might require chopping or other heavy uses.
Finally giving Cold Steel some love
Your editor always kills it!
1. Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweitght
2. Mora Garberg
Been a fan of Benchmades Axis lock since '97-98 after buying my Black Class Nimravus fixed blade for the Army and my Black Class Ares with 2 tone G10, both Allen Elishewitz designs of course. Been a huge supporter of both ever since
The whole knife-world revolves around the axis-lock, but somehow most knife-people are still in denial😖
I've had a Spyderco Para 2 for 3 years now and it is a workhorse. My go to. I will be getting a Microtech Dirac Delta as soon as they're back in stock at some point, but will continue to carry Para 2 for sure.
My Para is a limited edition with G10 and S35vn going for over $600 now which I got on eBay for $120 at the time. I would never part with it.
A standard marine Ka-Bar and a midsize Opinel folder. Two totally different knives that serve totally different purposes equally well.
Topsl Records that is amazing
My top favorite knife is my edc SOG traditional folding knife and that is my number one choice
Those are some great picks I always keep a fixed blade on me not much into folders but those are nice
LOL my swiss army knife "is not high speed"..
Me over here: "High speed low drag forever!"
That's a... thing.
I'm surprised that there was no rats on the list. Rat 1 in d2 is a amazing knife. Fixed Blade would have to be a kabar or esse. Multi tool would be a lethermen wave
I still say a D2 RAT 1 is awesome but I have since picked up a Benchmade 940 and can completely agree that it is a phenomenal working knife. I have also bought a bunch of Victorinox and stopped carring my leatherman because I realized I wasn't really needing a plier often at all but my new three favorites the Tinker, Climber and classic SD fill all of the multi tool needs I have most of the time. Typically I carry the classic and Tinker but one of my sets of keys for another vehicle doesn't have a classic so I carry a Climber for the scissors when driving that rig. Leatherman wave stays in one car now and my other rig has my leatherman OHT.
Esse knifes are great. My one knife for end of the world is my Kabar extreme in D2. Maybe not great at any one thing, but good at everything and it won’t break!
I seen some I really like called up armored, you may have heard of them, I like my citadel Celtic Hunter to.
I EDC a Zero Tolerance 0562. For camping, I go big and use my Fallkniven A1 Pro. Those are my two "end all, be all" knives.
Hahahaha "look at this grraapphh"
Can we get a 5 knives everyone should own under 3" edition for us poor souls with length restrictions?
DontBotherNone really anything over a 3inch blade is unnecessary for most uses and just screams small penis; I should know I have a lot of large knives...
Lazy are you sure it's not the other way around for some *compensation*?
DontBotherNone for me the best legal most places knife is the spyderco dragonfly or the launch 4
Spyderco chapparell, spyderco sage( my preference is the sage 1 but they are all good) benchmade valet, benchmade emissary470, spyderco para 3. And for a bonus the spyderco delica 4( my current edc being the zdp edition FYI)
Can someone tell me how many inches are 12 cm?
Yup! Same story, my friend leaned on a cactus and I had my handy victorinox
My first pick would be the Leatherman Charge + TTi and my second pick would be a Cold steel Recon 1 Tanto blade. I have fixated on the tanto style blades lately. I currently own a Leatherman Wave, and a number of other off brand knives and tools, but I've learned that I prefer quality as I'm getting older. LOL
I work at Kershaw here in Tualatin, OR. 2 min from my house.
Slian D what is it like working at Kershaw? What department do you work in?
I feel like they just have a surplus of Mermaids that they can't sell to save their lives lololol.
I love my leatherman rev and my Imperial R.L USA slip joint. Great videos keep them up!
On the Tom Brown Tracker. The top is not a saw to cut down limbs or anything. It’s meant to make notches in wooden stakes so you can set a snare trap. Also chain link fence fits in the grooves to snap the fence. Yes I own and use one a lot. It’s a great knife if you know how to use it.
The saw teeth are for making notches in wood not for actually sawing down a tree , the first notch at the tip is for breaking wire or fence material . I have had mine for about 7 years and beat the crap out of it and it just keeps going . My 2 knives would be my tracker and zt 0450
Even while they're not my prettiest nor my most expensive knives, the 2 that I would never want to be without:
1. Spyderco Sage 5LW
2. Benchmade 940
940 is pretty though
My two would be the Spyderco Bushcraft-UK & the Caribbean Salt. I have other great knives, but these would keep me going!
My two knives would be the Buck 119 and Kabar. I also really like the solid and heavy Hoffman Richter folders. For SHTF, the Ontario machete.
1. Super kukri
2. Leatherman wave
Ps. 3. Benchmade bugout
matt upwardsNonwards A decent kukri, a Leatherman, and my ZT 0920
If only 3 knives: Victorinox SAKE Champion plus, CRK Sebenza and Ka-Bar standard. I carried SAK and a Ka-Bar in Vietnam 50 years ago; still do.
Just wondering - how do you pronounce this? Is it Kuh-Bar or is it Kay-Bar?
