Cute song. Cute singer. Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows was voted the number one feel good song of the 60s. SiriusXM 60s on 6 did a survey a month or so ago and this song was voted # 1. Always makes me smile.
There was absolutely nothing like Lesley Gore. In want to go on about all my rock faves, Beatles to Led Zeppelin to so many rock acts, but Lesley - nothing better.
This song brings joy to the heart, not many songs like this...but i'm afraid not many people knows it, 'cause very few sights... why don't we bring to present? Thank you Lesley Gore, you did history...
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together Brighter than a lucky penny When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear And I feel so fine Just to know that you are mine My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows That's how this refrain goes So come on, join in, everybody Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way When you're in love to stay Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together Brighter than a lucky penny When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear And I feel so fine Just to know that you are mine My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows That's how this refrain goes So come on, join in everybody Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way 'Cause you're in love You're in love And love is here to stay
I'm a little late...Happy heavenly birthday..You have been reunited with your one true love and continue to celebrate with sunshine 🌞rainbows 🌈, and lollipops 🍭It's your party so party on on sista! 💖 No need to cry. A dynamic unique voice that you gifted so many with. Save a dance for me.
Man, that was fun to watch and listen to. Going live, when Lesley can actually sing (and not mime to the 45), that's got to be the best for an artist. You can have fun with your voice. And that audience roaring as the song ends, so great.
I bought this song.. I Love the fast energy it has. Me and my sister use to dance to it all the time. Only problem it ended too soon. So we played it over and over. I thought Lesley had beautiful eyes. EXCUSE ME. WHILE I GO PLAY IT AGAIN!
Marge: You look ... nice. Ruth: Tonight's got nothing to do with "nice". Tonight's all about ... (shoves audio tape into the car stereo which plays Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows) Ooh, sorry, Marge. Wrong tape. (swaps the tape for another which starts playing Guns 'N Roses' Welcome to the Jungle)
This clip is from the ABC show Shindig!, with the Blossoms and the Wellingtons as backing vocals. The Blossoms are known for Darlene Love, and the Wellingtons are known for singing the theme to Gilligan’s Island…
If someone isn't a fan of classical music, people might start referencing this in The Simpsons (where Chief Wiggum and Homer started singing the song in a police car that got played on a radio) or Eddsworld (As one of Tord's hatred song, most notably in "Hello Hellhole" and "Ruined"), but besides that, i could think this song is a classic because you won't even believe there is the song all about getting together, smiles, sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows until you have listened to this song for people who does feel happy and it all thanks to Lesley, R.I.P to her.

Always loved this Gore song. Most of her tunes? Sorry, too girlie submissive.i prefer a "Rizzo" type. But..da!!??''it!!! She's just so CUTE!!! God bless "Kitty Cat"
If you took her songs literally, then yes, most of her songs seemed girlie submissive..but then you obviously missed the in joke behind these type of songs...especially since it turns out that Lesley didn't even dig guys at all.
When you listen to HOW she sang these girl victim songs, she puts more punch in the lyric....I mean was she really crying when Judy and Johnny walked through the door. I never thought it was a crying song but a she can have him song. The only lyric that said she cried is in the afterthought in the chorus and doesn't refer to herself but " you would cry to". I've heard Helen Shapiros version and she does sing it as a cry song, not Lesley, she's been bold from the start
Eliezer, that's what made Lesley a real singer and this performance stand out. She was a trained vocalist who could go expound on the original vocal arrangement. She also had perfect pitch! :)
Yes, this is a "live" performance. The original SLR was recorded in 1963 for Lesley's second album, Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts. In 1965, Lesley recorded another version of SLR that Lesley was going to lip-sync to in the movie SKI PARTY. However, they used the 1963 version in the movie. The 1965 version can be found on the Bear Family Records five-cd box set titled It's My Party.
Why every music/lyric video of this song why the comment section is talking about how Tord hate this song?? That's just pretty funny just what the actual heck
Lesley recorded Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows May 1963, several months before she recorded You Don't Own Me (September 1963). SLR was featured on her second album, Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts. It wasn't released as a single until 1965 when Lesley had a cameo appearance in the movie SKI PARTY. In 1965, Lesley recorded another version of SLR, however they used the 1963 version in the movie. The 1965 version is featured in the Bear Family Records 5-cd box set. Also it's posted here on CZcams.
we live in an age where no one knows a song from actually looking up an artist lol. It's a movie a commercial a TV show etc. But we are living in Covid bizarro world.. Guess I learned something though 😀
That sequence always gives me a chuckle--- it's so cramped in there and she can barely move around-- although, yes, she is able to paw and caress and flirt. Ironic that they made her so amorous towards the boys.
classic leslie gore . who we lost today to cancer at 68. may she rest in peace. love this song. and its my party :)
Lesley.
The first song of hers that I REALLY enjoyed listening to. The others were just OK, to me.

Great time to grow up in the 60s. I Love the female back up singers.
they're the Blossoms...Darlene Love, Jean King, Fanita James...tho it's hard to see in this clip
So much range, depth and beauty. You are so missed
She was the best.
Look how mature 19 year-old Leslie is to 21st century 19 year olds.

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
That's how this refrain goes
So come on, join in, everybody
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
When you're in love to stay
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
That's how this refrain goes
So come on, join in everybody
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is sure to come your way
'Cause you're in love
