    I have a 322ce (speaking of grand concert, all-mahoganies), and it’s the coolest guitar for home, recording, and playing on an amp in a cramped pit for musicals. None of those things require me to have a loud guitar, and it’s just awesome.

    I have the AD17e and it's awesome! However, if I had t odo it all over I'd get this one. The warmer tone is amazing, plus it really is easier to fingerpick, which I do a lot of. You can pick the 17, but the smaller body is way more comfy.

    Hi Baxter, just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much my family (Shannon, Kevin and McKenna) and I enjoyed visiting Casino on Friday. We appreciated the time you took showing us around the shop and letting Kevin play some of your personal guitars. That was really so much more than we expected. We had a blast and it was well worth the drive from Columbia! Btw Kevin imprinted on the Magnatone Twilighter amp while we were there. Thanks again,

    As a teen in the 60's, Martin was the sine qua non of acoustic guitars. I used to look past any guitar that wasn't a spruce topped D-18 / D-28 or a lookalike. To me, that's what a guitar was supposed to look (and sound) like, and it's how I ended up with a D-35 I still have. However about 5 years ago I picked up a Taylor K-214ce-K DLX (Koa with spruce top) that caught my attention because the Koa was just flat out beautiful. And since it has what I now know as the typical Taylor brightness, I bought it. Then about a year ago I was sitting across a song circle from a 000-15 and was instantly impressed with how good it sounded, it's punch easily picked out among several spruce tops. It was truly a wow moment. Long story short, I now have a 000-15 Streetmaster that's a lot of fun to play. However, now I am really looking forward to playing this AD22e, because it's a Taylor and a mahogany top. Can't wait for one to show up in the local shop. Hope my wife doesn't see this. 🙂

    It's gorgeous.. some people have no taste. I like the darker woods and stains, the utilitarian decor without unnecessary inlays. I think I'm getting one, it's the perfect companion to my Larrivee LV-O3 when I want a more mellow and intimate sound. I still think I'm picking up a Martin 000-18M too but not until I can afford a custom with an ebony fingerboard and Adirondack top. The Taylor AD22e would suit me perfectly and its welcoming like a warm cup of hot chocolate.

    Not sure if you will respond because this is an older video, but would this truly be a better option than the Martin 000-15m? I have gone to so many guitar shops multiple times over the last few months to try almost every guitar and I avoided the mahogany because of its simple looks. I picked up the 15m and immediately bonded with the sound over every other guitar. I haven’t played this Taylor yet though and I’m going to go find it in a local store. My purpose for the new guitar is sort of an all purpose, worship on Sundays as well as a personal singer/songwriter guitar. Everyday playing would be just practice, learning new worship and writing. I would put the L.R. Baggs Anthem in the Martin. Is the ES2 better? Which do you enjoy most!?

    • @AKdon68
      @AKdon68 Před 2 lety

      It may be due to low humidity.. You have to keep Martin in proper humidity of 40-60 RM.. Expensive instruments have to be taken care of.. A very small investment in a humidifier would have saved your Martin..

    • @nellatrab
      @nellatrab Před rokem

      Martin does not use bolts these day, just a simple dovetail joint...also they would warranty something like that! Taylor tone will not compete with a Martin, they've been doing it for 90 years making all mahogany guitar with one piece neck, unlike Taylors which have tone damping 3 piece designs with bolts and shims!

    Taylor missed the two things that makes a gig bag better - light weight and lots of storage. The Aerocase is basically a hardcase with a nylon shell. It's way too heavy and there is no useful storage in my opinon. There is no interior storage box under the neck (which it easily could and would greatly benefit from), and the outer pocket is great to carry a cable and some music, but can't handle pedals or thicker items well. They needed to build in more storage and/or make it a lot lighter like the good aftermarket hard bags have done well.

      with the prices of all guitars increasing dramatically, these AD series have gone from 1200 new to nearly 2000 new in a SHORT amount of time. Thanks to inflation (we won't disucss why here ;) ), these will soon be the mid-level giutar the 4-500's used to be. I expect Taylor to come out iwth yet ANOTHER stripped down all solid to make it more affordable to the masses.

This is the one that haunts me still, and the only guitar with the new bracing configuration that works to my old ears. As a fan of mahogany topped guitars, I love how the V-Class really adds to the clarity of this smallish box. It sounds lush and sultry at the same time; wonderful mellow, mahogany whine. I'm saving for a OOO-28 for its sound, but if I'd just buy a guitar for its looks and for the fact that it does have its own sound (a sound I still miss), I would buy a OOO-15M or even a OO-15 today. I love the looks, I love the playability and I love the mellow sound and softness and sweetness.
      The only reason why I still go for that OOO-28 is that I feel this is the last time I'll be able to buy a top instrument (one I always dreamed of having) within 6 to 12 months of needing to put everything aside, basically living like a freaking monk. If I don't go for it, if I'd buy the 15 instead, it'll never happen. Not at an age when it still matters (I hope).
      But if I manage to save enough and buy the 28...., with a little luck I might be able one day to buy a 15 as well.
