      Update. Cant say enough how much I love this guitar! Great fingerpicker and a great strummer! The size is so comfortable to play and the sound is awesome. Chose this guitar over the Martin 00015m. Another awesome guitar but glad I chose the Taylor!

    AD=American Dream 2=hardwood top. The last number is the body shape.

    The 22 is much more mid-forward. The 21 sounds a little deeper, so this a bit confusing😊. Great review as always dudes!

    I have an AD12e. It is one of the nicest, most playable guitars that I have! It’s not the loudest but it is a wonderful size for sofa noodling!

    Below is an excellent video on Taylor’s numbering scheme. Unfortunately, Paul just got it wrong.
    1st - AD = American Dream, 2nd - 2 = 6 string Hardwood top, 3rd - 1 = Grand Theater, 2 = Grant Concert, 4th - e = Electric.

    Why does the slightly smaller guitar (AD21e) have a deeper bass response? I know, and I can now reveal it to the world though those in the know seem to want to keep it a secret. The AD21e uses medium strings and the AD22e uses light strings.

      It might also be because of the different bracing. The AD21e has C bracing (no idea what this looks like, but maybe it's an X bracing variant?), and the AD22e has V bracing which is known for being quieter, more balanced across the frequency spectrum (less scooped, so more mids, less bass) and with more sustain compared to X bracing.

    Nice review! The 21 has a deeper Mahogany tone. I like it better.

    AD 22e has a wider neck (1"24/32 or 4,445 mm)) than AD 21e (1" 23/32 or 4, 366 mm) ; that would be a reason to prefer one over the other (together with the larger scale maybe) according to your taste...

    AD-21for strumming AD-22 for fingerpicking. Most of the time ya need two on hand!

    I favor the larger Taylor models (618 & 818) for their greater bass. These instruments, in the right hands for the right styling would be quite nice.

    No gloss finish? How is this an upgrade from the full mahogany gte?

    • @rob1261a
      @rob1261a Před dnem +1

      It’s not supposed to be an upgrade. It’s a Replacement. All GT guitars were rolled into other Series (AD, 811…) or discontinued. Personally I don’t like Glossy.
