    My money says you may be able to hook your magnetizer up to a rheostat to vary the strength of your magnets. You won't be able to make them stronger but weaker should be an option for making specialized pickups.
    I've got a very old watch demagnetizer that was in my father's jewelry store. It's designed to demagnetize but if you pull the object out of the field while the button is still energizing the coil it has the opposite effect.
    We used to use this feature to magnetize and demagnetize screw drivers to hold screws for placement and find them on the floor. And then demagnetize them so the screwdriver wouldn't accidentally magnetize a balance wheel in a clock or watch.

      LoL that’s because it’s actively degaussing a field somewhere. Check your wallet and phone at the door! I’ve got a larger tape head degausser for VHS and it’s the size of an iron. Respect the tool!

    Hey man, found your videos recently and have been lost in the world of wiring. But I know nothing about wiring and I have a 95-96 washburn dimeslime that has gone to the shop 3 times and still won't work. So I'm just buying all my components and doing it myself. I was hoping you could make a video on wiring two humbuckers, a 3 way switch, two volume knobs, a master tone knob and the jack. I will still keep looking for a video specific to that. I still have more of yours to go through but I appreciate how well you explain.

    Can you make a video explaining the sonic difference between different magnets. Alnico 2-3-4-5 vs ceramic. Some pickups have pole piece alnico 2 for strings 1-2 alnico 3 or 4 for middle strings and Alnico 5 for bass strings 5-6. Thank you! Really enjoy your videos!

    To undercharge a magnet, put wood or plastic spacers between the
    neodymium and the alnico in the vice. The thicker the spacers, the less the charge. This works because it keeps the alnico farther away from the
    neodymium, not because the spacers offer any sort of magnetic resistance.

    DYLAN, can the Magnetron Electromagnetic control unit set how much Gauss you want? like if you want 500 gauss or 1000 gauss how would you be able to do this so that all your A5 magnetics or A5 pole pieces will have the same gauss?

    This was very interesting and informative. I have a question though. Do pickup magnets wear out? I use a screwdriver a lot for my job and I have a magnetizer for it that I slide the screw driver back and forth to magnetize, very similar to how you slid the magnets back and forth in the Mojotone. But the magnetism wears out on my screwdriver and I have to remagnitize it pretty often. So can a pickup become less magnetized over time?

    • @qddk9545

      I think that is the difference between a real magnet and tooling steel. Magnets have the ability to keep magnetized.

    Great video Dylan, thanx for all that info.
    The polepieces ina single coil are the magnets, right?
    What would be the effect IF the pole pieces were opposite to each other?
    For example: E = North up, A = South up, D = North up, G= South up, B = North up, E = South up?

  • @SpencerPhreak

    I have a question: when using your electromagnetic machine, it only takes 1 second. Does it make a difference if you go longer? Will the magnet become stronger, possibly leading to inconsistent strengths across multiple magnets? Or does it just charge the magnet up to 100% capacity of strength?
    I’m looking to magnetize some pickup magnets, and I’m wondering about charging them “too much” to lead to inconsistent strengths. Thanks for your time Dylan !!

    • @qddk9545
      @qddk9545 Před 5 měsíci

      Different magnet types have different ´capacities´ and many people charge them to full charge, but that might not be the best thing to do.

    !!!! H E L P !!!! hi, I cleaned my pickups with a magnet... because it had ferrous dust all around.., result: 3 strings no longer play.. the magnets no longer have a charge. they are single coils from a fender signature artist David Gilmour.... I'm very desperate.., this video has given me hope again, but I have a question: does remagnetizing a pickup change its specs? there is no value of reference that characterizes a pick-up? doing a magnetic charging... does the original performance change? do the factory values change?!, thank you for your time

    • @qddk9545
      @qddk9545 Před 5 měsíci

      Contact a pickup repair guy, he will be able to ´recharge´ the magnets. You can charge a PU material to a certain level, almost like a battery, but maybe they don´t have to be fully charged.
      Hopefully the repair guy will know. My believe is that vintage sounding PU´s don´t need full charge, but that is IP for the manufacturer.

    In this video you claim that 5,000 single coil pole magnets and 2,000 humbucker magnets last you a couple months... By that math you are selling and making about 45 pickups every single day. And you are potting all these pickups in a little crock pot that holds a few at a time?? Forgive me but I'm calling bullshit. With that level of sales, you would upgrade that crock pot inside of a week and you wouldn't have time to make videos. I'm sure you sell a lot of pickups but why make silly claims like this? It doesn't advance the point of your video. Just be you. You don't need to exaggerate.
