From the enginerdin’ side you pick your median operating range and double it for spec sheets which go directly to Wika with an $arm+leg and then some fitter with butterfingers smashes it on the ground. I was working for a manufacturer of that made, among other things, electric power washers. The company got sued because a man electrocuted himself to death using the product.
The building next door has a security camera. We got the footage. He was using the sprayer in waist deep water.
So the engineers, who were some of the best in the US (no kidding) came up with a safety sensor that would detect if you were holding the spray nozzle while standing in water. Brilliant stuff.
They prepared the patent paperwork and the attorneys came parachuting in and shut it down.
Apparently, the presence of non-mandated safety equipment shifts the liability from “their fault” to “our fault”.
Ask yourself why so much consumer and prosumer lawn tractors don’t come with roll over protection: there’s your answer.

Heard the same argument and similar conclusions about Charles Dalziel's invention, the ground fault interrupter commonly called a GFI or GFCI when it'll supply additional receptacles. The talk was about whether GFI's would become added internally to plug in power tools for outdoor work and who would be at fault if a detection circuit failed and injured someone. That was the mid 70's and GFI's have been so reliable they're here to stay but they didn't become common within many devices. The design you've mentioned could use the same leaking current detection. Weighing the benefit of a safety device against who would be at fault seems to show safety can't escape the laws of relativity either. An interesting comment you left there.

I may or may not, have performed a similar adjustment on my still under warranty Kubota (I'll admit to nothing officer.) in order to haul some over sized logs out of the woods. Grinning ear to ear at my easy success until a little rock no bigger than a corn nubbin lifted my rear wheels clear of the ground whilst I was at the top of a grassy knoll. Why when I realised I was decending said hill on the brakeless front axle I thought to myself, "Self, you are about to die." When I fell forward on the hydraulic levers dumping the load and digging the bucket into the topsoil bringing the tractor and not I to an abrupt halt. I, no I continued on the journey down into the depths of the pucker brush with my wranglers full of something akin to beef gravy. Yep,,,,,,changed that setting back soon after.

Watching you bounce the rear tire reminds me of being a kid and watching my dad lift a full tidy tank of diesel off the flatbed with the lil kubota tractor. Had the plow on the back with sandbags ratchet strapped on. And of course, as all fathers are known to do, use child labor. Or in my case. Child weight. I was worth at least two sandbags damnit. So I was sitting on the plow with the sandbags too.

AvE, When you need for parts to be held together temporarily, so they can be installed in a hydraulic system, use Vaseline instead of grease, because grease has soap components, which will cause bubbles in your hydraulic fluid to form, which can cause a drop in performance, vibration, unexpected sudden drop in pressure causing a "sudden drop", and other issues associated with having bubbles in a hydraulic system. Vaseline (petroleum jelly/petrolatum), is not grease. It's paraffin, so it doesn't contain the soap but is sticky enough to hold small hydraulic components together for installation and harmlessly dissolve into the hydraulic fluid, without causing bubbles to form..
I was once told, a good mechanic always keeps Vaseline, silicon spray and a flashlight on hand, even on the bedside stand!! Lol.

Question, the stainless steel washers he had to use. We’re they just acting as spacers or do they seal as well?
We only ever used the front loader on our older JD tractor for forking hay rolls. I don't think it has the umph for serious lifting. It is perfect for loading rolls on a wagon, though.
Unrelated: I like their equipment, but nothing is easy to replace. Their engineers had some sort of fascination with bolting parts on behind other parts. If John Deere made a car, you'd have to remove the radiator to change a flat tire.
It's awesome when safety equipment makes things harder. Like gas cans that require 3 hands to get fuel into a lawn mower.😁

I'm usually big on safety equipment but there is no way these new gas cans are actually safer. They straight-up shoot pressurized gasoline with substantial force when you try to gently vent them if you dare to have any temperature fluctuations. (Heaven forbid change of seasons....)

My sisters car had a fuel tank without cap, behind the door is the port with some mechanical flap that locks closed if you don't tickle it just right. Was awful fun jamming a pocket knife and a drinking straw itn there in the freezing cold propping the half tank of gas that I *didn't* pour on the gravel up with my knee.
Whole thing was a circus.

What I found most amusing while I was watching, was when the chain snapped, just how quickly all those people who were so eager to help out disappeared leaving the poor operator alone scratching his head wondering how he is going to explain this to management!

He'll find the seat sucked up into the pump because it fell in the tank and the screen was taken off the pick up tube for just a little extra flow.

I got more gas leaked on the ground than in the tank. The can is designed to prevent spills.
The problem with most gas cans currently available, apparently, is that they're not designed to keep the end user safe. They're designed to keep the manufacturer safe. From the lawyers.

As a forklift driver, I'd guess the biggest reason your forklift sucks is that it's actually a tractor but I might be barking up the wrong tree here.
As a fellow farklift operator, I wholefartedly agree. On a more sneerious note, I do hope that we won`t be reading about farm tractor disASSters any time in the future. This only days after a farm tractor accident in La Poubelle Province, where (details not provided by media) it seems that an adult giving rides to other adults and children in the bucket of a front-end loader on a tractor, somehow managed to dump the bucket while in motion, and ended up with ( it`s now up to) 4 dead. The darn things are not toys.

The up side? At least when you need to replace the spark plugs on that machina of yours it comes with a complementary engine swap. Shame the lightning stick swap costs an arm and a dick at 10,000 pesos.

I recently found out that Caterpillar makes power tools. They have some kind of unique graphene battery that charges in 20 minutes and seems to be their main bragging point. You should tear one down if you can get a hold of it.

I removed the seat safety switch on my LS tractor. It's a lot easier doing frontend loader work now because I can stand up without it shutting off.
I'm used to my old IH cub cadet, which hasn't seen a safety switch in many years, and I've used an old John Deere tractor that didn't know about safety, so now when I use something new the switch drives me crazy. You can't so much as stretch without setting the darn thing off. New skid steers were particularly a pain because it locks everything when you get out of the seat, but at least they thought ahead and gave a few seconds of empty seat time before that happens.

Heh I just had the dealer at my house to service my 2038r, it would pick up 1600lbs when it was new but at a year old it wouldn't pick up 1200lbs at all.
They pressure checked everything, checked for bleed off of the cylinders etc etc and determined that the jam nut didn't jam and the adjustment screw was not where it was supposed to be, guy told me the psi should be 2500-2990 and mine was sitting at 2330. Told him if he was gonna bump it up....BUMP IT ALL THE WAY
Now I'm at 2800 at idle and 2990 at 1500 rippems and I'm able to unload a full ton of pellets off the trailer. Amazing how a little extra pissers give you so much more lifting power.

My best lucky laying-on-the-road find was that exact same Snap-On ratchet, with bonus thumb wheel spinner. A quick rebuild kit and she's now as good as new!
In the early days of Turbo cars, I had a friend who mounted an adjustable wastegate, and adjusted it according to factory boost, but then he cranked the boost up one turn to race, and after the race he turned it back half a turn. the next race, up one turn, back a half.
After a coupe of races he blew the engine, rebuilt it and then measured the boost, he was waaay over what anyone would think a stock engine could take, so he turned it down a full turn...
So I pulled into a Shell station; they said I'd blown a seal.
I said, "Fix the damn thing and leave my private life out of it, okay, pal?

When I was a wee lad of 17 or 18 I was employed as a sod tosser making rich folks homes have pretty lawns and such. We had a Kabota 45HP tractor snap right half in two at the transmission because we used the three point to pick up pallets of rain soaked sod here in the Pacific Northwest. Overstepping the weight limits is always possible, but not always advisable.

Getting the swarf bin onto the truck was a little interesting.
5 blokes on the back of the fork, and the truck driver was pushing the back around to steer it, because it was only skipping on the rears.
This maneuver was performed every 6 weeks, but the number of blokes hanging off the fork was usually one, or none.
Next video how to split a JD tractor to find that part you dropped and has chewed up in the gear box!!

This is exactly what I have been doing this year with two tractors, one my MF35x which can now lift death weight size stuff over 1000kg and what that "John Deere" is like which is a 2006 chinese 3cyl 30hp 4x4 tractor which struggled to lift a fork of horse poo but now can do 900kg which I thought was enough for saying less than competent drivers will be operating it! NIce video Ave nice.
