This performance cleared my skin, fixed my grades, and made my dad come home
Period
@Maggie Rogers This comment is mad sus dude
You are too funny and I totally relate🥰
Facts💯
No bitch. The reality is that your skin still looks nasty as hell, your grades suck & your dad is of cheating with another man 🤣😂
Me : “I wonder how she sounds live”
* Clicks on first video *
...Jaw drops
live she is transforming, tochs deep inside your being where your basic goodness and intrinsic nature is, compassion, empathy, love, and more reside, that at times we may forget is there, maggies voice connects to that and we no longer question whether we are loved or deserve to be or are of value...of course we are, we is we are divine!!
EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED WITH ME
This completely opens up this song for me-- plus her dress is an extension of her hair and this is a quality look.
Definitely got me too
I know right
Just saw an interview where Maggie said this performance is what made her realize she could SING. And ...yeah. blown away.
Everyone is talking about her first note (and rightfully so), but those last notes, without the music, were a spiritual experience. She didn't even know she was on SNL, lost in another world. Pure beauty.
Daaaaang that first note was gold! You sing gorgeously Maggie! ❤️❤️❤️
emir canlas first note blew me out of the water
people were saying her first line of Light On was bad so she was like "I gotta do it to em"
so much more emotional than the video version
@@christianbales4321 she said in an interview her inner ear monitors weren't working up until the chorus, if you watch it back she suddenly pulls in tune as she can finally hear
Kryptonite I come back to listen to this performance. It is so much more powerful than the album version.
if this was how church was, i'd be there every sunday
Music like this is my church without question
In an age of fake everything, she radiates authenticity.
Agreed.
Amen 🙏
I agree. I just don't think she looks 100% comfortable yet as to who she is when performing, like she hasn't grown into herself yet. I mean, musically, she is already there, but I'm looking forward to seeing her performance style evolve and develop.

Surrender Tour out now IF you can still get tix. And that started about two months ago (same as your comment).
She somehow sounds BETTER live than on the album and she already sounds incredible on the recording. It's insane.
Ikr??? My thoughts exactly. Incredible

The pain knowing only a million people have seen this… Maggie’s voice has the potential to solve global conflict
Anyone else just get super emotional listening to her music? Like.... without fail
i feel like myself when i listen to her.
Yes ugh
She makes me so emotional when I listen to her. I’ve never experienced this with an artist.
I purposely avoid the relationship songs that make me the most emotional. Bob Dylan, Beyonce, CSNY, Adele... I hit skip so I don't cry. Maggie is the first to make just sit in it and not hit skip even tho I cry every time. Amazing. Thank you, Maggie.
Every time.
This may be one of the (if not THE) best live performances ever on SNL.
Watch Florence and the Machine "Shake it out" PLEASE!! BUT YES, this is up there!! 🙌
WOW !! I didn't expect that strong opening .. this is her best live performance yet
hope you saw the Light On killer one in Paris
@@mannonKG I watched it. It's amazing
She's got a hint of Jennifer Warnes in her voice. That's a good thing.
Her concerts are flawless, energetic and so much fun...
Yes
She has the aura of our generations Stevie Nicks.
Yessss I see it!!!
She reminds me a bit more of Janis Joplin, but I love the Stevie Nicks comparison too.
She’s better than that shiksa
She reminds me of Joss Stone.
She looked like she had forgotten where she was in the end when they started clapping. That's the way real raw performances should be. 4:37
exactly so - listen to her interview with Tom Powers on Q last week !
You're exactly right. She talked about this around the 19:00 minute mark in this interview: czcams.com/video/aV-btiXsA6w/video.html
She was definitely in another place, consumed by the reverie of the music. I also saw her interview when she explained as if the song just left her in that moment to make its way in world. She floats back to the here and now, and it’s like, holy shit, I’m on Saturday Night Live!
100% she like snapped back to reality and remembered other people were watching when the applause started.
This is “flow state”. I know it from taking landscape photos. When I come to I often find myself freezing and covered in bugs but before I snapped to I had no idea. I was too “in the zone” to notice. Maggie was definitely “in the zone” here.
This is my favorite SNL performance of all time.
It’s good…Sia and Gaga rank up there too…Brandi Carlile.
I had to look up the lyrics to her various songs. Oh my God. She is just incredible. We have some really talented young ladies and they're making beautiful music now that is so raw and so real. It is such a joy to hear. I'm just a 70-year-old broad who is just totally delighted...
Gail Remp the lyrics to split stones just like cleansed my soul
You're a cool broad, Gail. Hope you're doing okay. xx
Gail you may not be a Spring Chicken no more but you sound like a Badass to me😉
You sound real cool, Gail.
How wonderful! What other female artists are you into?
Did not expect that opening, my lord!
Jake Howden didn’t ya?
@@dekleyn noi
Didn't expect to see your name here J but DAMN SHE IS PERFECTION
This just has to be on the list of best SNL musical performances ever. I had a craving for this, 4 years later, because its just so impactful. Absolutely stunning
This live version gives me a reason not to die, so I could go back to this video everyday. Thanks Maggie you saved a life.

Hahaha the best comment by far.
nearly 3 years and i still come back monthly. this performance is my favorite maggie rogers album. got everything i need in 12 tracks in less than 4 mins
Such a beautiful woman and song. I am convinced she is not performing the song, but rather "inside" the song. You can almost see at 4:45 when she pops back out and realizes where she is.
There’s performers, then there’s Maggie Rogers. She’s something special.
This is how cults start, with a performance like this (sign me up plz).
2021 - still goes hard. I'm a 42 year old hip hop head, but I love me some Maggie Rogers. This song is a banger. I don't watch SNL but this has to be a top performance.
Are we related lol, 43 Tomorrow 6/26. Mos Def and just about anything Rawkus Records is how I came up in hip hop. This performance makes my hair stand up
@@jt4165 It's a banger. Give me some Masta Ace/Outkast and I'm happy.
07/17...cancers
35 y/o hip hop head and I feel the same way
One of those iconic SNL performances.
A forest fairy, dancing with abandon and all the feels.
Still coming back to this performance years later. Maggie is so authentic and a true throwback. Absolutely love her vibes. Saw her at ACL this year and her look has certainly changed but her vibes are still immaculate
She opens her mouth and ANGELS FLY OUT
If Florence Welch and Joni Mitchell had a love child. Love this song ❤💖
With a bit of Lana Del Rey?
That opening line had so much energy!
I love everything about this Woman. Maggie Rogers is like the Earth coming alive and embracing everyone to love each other, She's an Omen from Mother Nature telling us all to quit fighting so much, We are all here together..and for only a short time.
kramercapriati AMEN
You been at the shrooms again?
That look at the end. Damn. I don’t want to say she looked possessed because of the negative connotation, but maybe more like the music consumed all of her and took over. Idk. But that look of sudden realization at the end, that was something probably pretty indescribable even to her. She’s going to write great things in her life, I just know it.
I would say she looks overwhelmed at how people respond to her, and that comes through in a lot of her live performances. She seems incredibly humble.
Yes! She was in the zone a tad longer than most artists when the song ended
Bly greatest performance ever on SNL
I did not know she had vocals like this. SHOOOOKKKK
this performance brought john mayer to tears
Story?
Durf McAllister so John was watching, and he liked it so much he started to tear up.
Jose Martinez
I more mean, like, how do we know that but sure.
@@DurfMcAllister he wrote that in his insta story

Whenever she starts singing she opens a conduit to somewhere else and gets out of the way. Everything between she and each of us dissappears-all the struggles, all the pain, all the baggage, all the anxiety- and we commune for a moment as souls above our fleshly existence.
You out every Maggie Roger’s song into the perfect perspective. She is an experience. A trip. A journey.
I looove people who gets high on their own work. She's just so pure
At the end of the song, she's deep into it and comes out of her reverie and it's like, 'Oh yeah. I'm on Saturday Night Live"... With a little smile.
i think about this performance a lot. one of snl's beeeeest!
After the chorus when she slams the mic down when the cymbal hits... Oh muh gush... You know she's into it.
I cried idk Maggie personally but I’m soo proud of her omg
Right??? She made it on pure talent and artistry
Logan Adams me too I’m so goddamned proud of this beautiful woman
Man up.
Narcist I Lmao who knew that affirming women’s progress would emasculate me
Logan Adams perfect response lmfao
She is so present during her performances and it really shows that she is actually in the moment
Lorne Michaels: Maggie what type of shoes are you gonna wear for the performance?
Maggie: Nah.
Is she barefoot?!
What about the drummer? He is so into this song, all of his emotions he just let them go through those sticks. So powerful
I watched this on tv and this brought me BACK
Her spontanious wacky dancing is electrifying
One of the greatest live performances by anyone ever.
Agreed. And so many of hers are on any list.
I hope ~this~ is the performance her bout on SNL is remembered for. So much energy, style, power, warmth and technical prowess. And this fucking song. Goddammit she's a superstar.
Chill out mate!😂😂 omg i am in love with her too!!!!!
her miming the crash at 1:55 is magnificent lol
What a talent. She feels every note she sings. I'm so impressed.
I came across this artist last week after a mention in a New Yorker article . I was just blown away. This song and Don't Forget about me. Just beautiful music and an angelic voice. Thank you Maggie.
Definitely in the very top tier of all SNL performances…
I love how it takes a few seconds after the applause begins for her to come out of the song and acknowledge the audience. She really embodies this song deeply.
the last time i was this excited discovering an artist was when i heard Dog Days are Over by Florence and the Machine. Maggie thank you for sharing your light with us!
the opening and ending is perfect, the ending looks like as if she didn't even realize being on stage
You know your music is great when you give your own self an out of body experience, we all felt it and witnessed it together!
well Hello. a star is born. anyone with half an ear for music should REALLY appreciate this performance.
Jason Combs well her father is Paul Rogers “The Voice” from Bad Company and Free. she is rock n roll legacy.
@@BossHossStudios That explains a lot.

She’s so great! I saw her open for HAIM at Redrocks and again here a few weeks ago in Phoenix. She’s SO TALENTED. More people need to be aware of her.
Waiting for that album Maggie!!
There is already an album. Have a look on Amazon.
I was at that Red Rocks show too!! I’m a fan for life now. What a performer!! ❤️
i can hear haim in her newer stuff for sure
No need for Haim to enter the stage. They can’t follow Maggie
@@johnratcliffe6438 I think he means the album Heard it in the past life that will come out on January
Fucking shit hot from start to finish sounds and visuals 😮❤
She’s incredible live. Most musicians aren’t this good live
Loved this Song and the 1st one as well. And I wont pretend as though I knew who this young lady was before watching last night. But I DO NOW. 👏👍
What a Kick A#! VOICE. I love it. And as a 50 yr old Black Woman. Im gonna say , from my love of music. I heard, Aaron Neville and Ron Isley aka Mr Bigs. In her High Notes. Again. Thats what "I" heard. And it was AMAZING! This young lady has a new Fan to add to her list. I absolutely LOVED her Performances.
HOLY SMOKES that first note sounded a lil bit like Florence Welch or is it just me?
100%
Me too
I’m trying to figure out of that’s a bad thing?
yeah!
Not just you. When I first heard her on the radio I thought she was Florence.
The tempo change section of this song gives me LIFE.
The moment she came out of her own trace/channel and opened her eyes, sighing and blinking in amazement but also with perplexity as if realizing/remembering that she was in front of a crowd.
That opening, wow! This live version is so much better than the studio recording.
The ending of that song gets me every time.
Goddess.
This has to be one of the best SNL's live performances.
When someone breathes their song out...
I'm a hip hop head at heart, but Ms Rogers just lives this song from the inside out and it bangs. Love her energy so much.
The bridge onward is just fantastic. Not only is Maggie just beyond perfect, but all of the background vocals are amazing as well, and this song is just brilliant love
Alllllllll of The Band for sure!❤
Absolutely one of this generations greatest vocalist and performer
Still get goosebumps when she sings "I'm like falling water"
I have to watch this monthly at least!
Oh My Yah..........................Holy Rolling Stone.....my stomach hurts from memories & emotions so intense.....my Spirit is fighting so hard to jump out of this body again.....LOL.....breathe son.....breathe.......Thanx Maggie, you're the bestest Sis-Star!!!!!
This is pure incantation. Gestalt therapy. The voice. Dance in perfect step with the rythmn. Watch her face at the end. She is pure. No artifice, instinct, talent, inspiration.
she's like "i did that?" she's amazing
Goosebumps! My 13 month old daughter LOVES dancing to your music! You are a rare gem and an incredible role model for young girls! Authentic and talented, making real music. Thank you for absolutely everything you are doing.
-Dad/Musician
this makes me believe in humanity.
I know. The relief, right? That your kid can watch someone on TV that is actually an addition... Great sigh of relief.
The writing chops of Carole King the passion of Janis Joplin and the voice to make magic!
I like The Peaceful Falsetto runs at the end.
This performance/experience 🎭 made love dancing like a hippie carefree spirit😫😭
I was supposed to see Maggie Nov 1st in Toronto but it was postponed to March because of this performance and tbh... seeing this, ya girl ain't mad anymore LOL
gabisteg enjoy the show!
Did you get to see her live before we all went into lockdown mode? She’s awesome!
Maggie seems to come from a place than anyone who is attracted to better, healing, honesty, vulnerability can admire.
I love everything about her efforts to express herself threw this art.
Singed a 48 year old lover of 70s hard rock!
To have a real singer/song artist like Maggie Rogers is very much a blessing. Plus, she rocks red pleats like no body else
You can tell at 4:39 that she's still in the song: the audience is clapping and cheering but she's still looking concerned and vulnerable. 4:43? Still in the song. 4:46 she laughs a little to reassure herself and starts to emerge, tentatively.
IDK for sure, but that feels like a pretty good indicator of someone REALLY feeling every word they just sang. That's the Maggie Rogers I listen for. Keep at it!
This is such a powerful performance- her vocals, expressions, body movements everything! I literally got chills!!
I haven’t seen one bad comment on here so that goes to show just how incredible she is!
This woman is solid gold.
Just discovered her this week and I feel like a proud mom! She is amazing. Such raw talent.
Best performance of this
Probably the greatest performance ever recorded live. Unmatched.
One of the few times I was so glad that CZcams put suggested music in my autoplay was a few months back when I heard "Dog Years" for the first time. I have really enjoyed all of your music so far and this one is no exception. Great job on your performance on SNL!!
the change in time signature on this song is everything.
So emotional, this is making me cry.
She hits that first not with so much confidence! Incredible performance

Hold on, I thought that I could take it from here
Oh, I thought that I was gone and I'm cleared
Now it's getting harder (ooh)
Hold on, I thought that I was doing so well
Oh, like everything was under a spell
Now it's getting harder
I never loved you fully in the way I could
I fought the current running just the way you would
But now I'm in the creek
And it's getting harder
I'm like falling water
Go on and tell me just what I'm supposed to say
As if it could be any other way
Oh, it's getting louder
Go on and tell me just how I could allow
All that's light to end up somehow
Where it's getting darker
I never loved you fully in the way I could
I fought the current running just the way you would
And now I'm stuck upstream
And it's getting harder
I'm like falling water, falling water, falling water
Mmm mmm
And I'm like falling water, set me free
You were like falling water coming down on me
I never loved you fully in the way I could
I fought the current running just the way you would
But now I'm in the creek
I never gave you everything, I wish I could
I should've seen it coming from where you stood
But now I'm in the creek
And it was coming down on me
When i was standing in the creek
Oooh oooh ooooh oooh oooooh
Absolutely incredible! It’s even better than her actual recording! Not many people can sound better than their recordings
I love you Maggie Rogers❤🎵💞
Somebody give this kid a Grammy!!! DAMN!!!!!! Talk about innovative!
Why does Maggie make us all cry !?!?
That opening though😳😳😳🔥🔥!! She killed it!! Maggie you're on your way to infinity and beyond!! I'm so glad a random recommended video showed me your masterclass vid 'Alaska' raw... This is what raw talent and vulnerability is in its purest form. Can't wait for the album!!! 😍😍😍
She looks like possessed by her own music, and that is actually awesome!
SAYING I LOVE HER IS NOT ENOUGH 💘
