I remember my boyfriend has one of these machines when my hair was waist length I got a section caught in a reel table at full wind ripped a nice chunk of skin out of my scalp but the session went on! :)greetings from New York!
There are some 1 inch 2 track heads out there but they cost a fortune!!! I recently picked up a lovely 1/2 inch 2 track and a bargain price, must make a video soon :-) Keep up the good work, always enjoy your videos :-D
There very good. I use them in 2", 1/2" and 1/4" format. Very good in consistency. I had a bad experience with rmgi, I'm pretty sure they fixed the bug, but I love how music hits on ATR. Btw great vid.
I know ATR service has those 1" 2 track kits plus you can use a stampex ampex mm1100 audio card expansion rack that they make. Best of studer and ampex
Yes, only 2 of 4, but I've planned to mount special and very expensive 1" stereo heads on it. I love thinking to drive loudspeakers directly from the playback head! :-)))
Great looking machine! though the heads look like 4 track rather than 2 track, I had seen this on some recorders from Poly records, does it use 2 of thoes 4 tracks?
I know too ;-) I've already contacted Greg O. for price and availability of the heads. I prefer to keep Studer electronics basis and, at least, upgrade/slightly modify it.
Hi, thanks for your inquiry. I own all the representatives of the Studer 820 family, A820 1/4”, A820 1”, A820MCH 2” and D820X, but none is for sale, sorry. I will keep in mind your request, should I ever decide to sell any or find a unit which is surplus to me.

Ouch!
You poor thing. They fly at dangerious speeds should anything go wrong. But what a machine!
Thanks for sharing your opinion about ATR tape. I'll try them for sure in the future.
Another recommendation for ATR tape. Audio perfection.

❤ amazing
I'm using Pyral (ex RMGI) tapes. I've never used ATR tapes, so can't figure out which one I prefer.

Are you using ATR master tapes or rmgi? I love ATR tapes
Yes, very expensive! Nice the 1/2" version, especially if... at bargain price :-)
Thanks for your comments.
Does it make sense to have 1” version? I always see only few meters of tape on 1” reels ))) It seems that it’s absurdly expensive

Maybe give BASF Studiomaster 911 a try?
